Best brake pads ?

On the road when I had them on last year, pretty much the only drive I had that was 'spirited' (me with 2 mates in GT3's), they were quickly fading after about 20 mins.

Believe it or not but the Yellow Stuff I had on prior to that didn't do that.

(same set up, fresh fluid etc and even discs skimmed by Marcus)

Make of that what you will.

My vote goes for Ferodo DS2500 pads, EBC Turbo Groove discs with Goodridge s/s braided brake lines & Motul RBF600 brake fluid.

Was a great fast road set up imo.

Worked well from cold, worked fine for me on a track day with my 436Bhp Zed and wasn't noisy or too dusty either. ;)

The Ferodos are very popular and a good choice, if you are looking for an alternative the Hawk HPS are a bit cheaper and excellent for fast road use and produce a bit less dust than the DS2500

EBC yellow stuff in combo with EBC GD rotors, for me excellent for fast road driving. I still haven't manage to push them to limit on the road. Cold bite also very very good. No squealing only bit dusty

Once I am back on my feet I've got a list including the pads to sort.

The yellow stuff pads were a world of difference when I had them fitted over the stocks and would have them back in a heart beat for fast road use. I have not tried the others listed but just looking into the price comparison:

Pad, Price for all 4 corners, Operating Temperature (degrees C)

  • Yellow Stuff
  • £136
  • 150 - 1000

  • Ferodo DS2500
  • £180
  • 20 - 500

  • HAWK- HP 5.0
  • £208
  • 37 - 650

So on paper the yellow stuff should be pretty bleak when cold but they appear to bite more than stock, has anyone experience between y.s to the ferodo & even Hawk?

Tim
