First road trip in the zed - Scottish Highlands

Went away for the weekend there up past Inverness with a couple mates. Thought I'd share some of the roads/scenery

I had a friend who lived up in Inverness - hated it! Obviously he didn't drive enough / go very far because that looks incredible. Whereabouts did you stay?

We went from Edinburgh through breamar up to nair, then the back roads across to strathcarron. Spent a night there then came down the twisties to fortwilliam and down passed glencoe back home. The Wee alpine pass looking road is the bealach Na ba. It's a single track that goes to applecross through the mountain whole trip was just shy of 500miles.

I can be more specific with the road names if you boys are gonna be up that way. Get them into the satnav. The kinloch level loop road round the loch is first class

Eilean donan castle is always a nice stopping point

Inverness is a lovely part of the country. Some of the routes over the mountains are stunning. Shame that the weather is almost always rubbish

We were lucky. Both days were nice and sunny

Great pics, was up that way earlier this month and enjoyed those same roads through the Cairngorms!

Wow I absolutely love up that way. I go a little further to Dornoch for a break sometimes however I've yet to take the zed! These pics are putting me in mind for a break away now.

Next time will be a two or three day effort. Head up north of Ullapool. Couldn't get leave from work so time was against up. Decided we might try down south soon... head to the Isle of Man maybe

It's going to be part of the route on our trip this weekend, nice stop just before reaching Kyle of Lochalsh. The drive up on Friday will be taking in some of Scotlands most famous land marks and scenery, just hope MN looks kindly on us all and the forecasted rain misses us !
