  1. Great pics, was up that way earlier this month and enjoyed those same roads through the Cairngorms! Hope to get a bit further north later this year too
  2. Thanks! Yeah, Simon has done a few bits n bobs for me over the years so will go see him first. My other option was to go for the Ark Grip as Mrs fatrab really liked the sound of G-Man's rear end I've dealt with Chris @ Tarmac loads through another owners club and he's always been great to deal with, never used Dynamic but good to know there's a local garage who know the cars! Cheers - will get some more photo's up once we've picked it up!!
  3. Gutted for you, I'm assuming no neighbours have cctv?
  4. Agree with Ekona on this. I've currently got a completely unmodified 2005 STi 2.0 widetrack DCCD PPP. Although I've never driven a 350, the standard 370z's I've driven wouldn't come close I'm afraid.
  5. Bit of a thread revival and update…. After months of deliberation we finally bought a 370z! Picking it up this Saturday, it’s a 2010, red, 49000 miles with full history, unmodified, 2 owner, entry level model and a 1 year cared4 warranty. The story we got from the Nissan Dealer was that the previous owner had the car 4 years and had to trade, due to poor health, in favour of a Juke. Just wondered if that story sounds familiar to anyone or if the car is known on here? Southampton area… Nothing major planned for the car, it needs a set of Rays due to the current “standard†alloys and an exhaust, nothing too loud or showy, just needs to sound a bit more purposeful – will probably have a custom system done by Simon’s in East Kilbride. It’ll be my wife’s daily drive so needs to remain useable without annoying the neighbours at 7am. Looking forward to getting to know the car and I’m sure I’ll bump into some of you over the coming months. Cheers Rab https://www.dropbox.com/s/ybjmr9e54t99gpw/370z5.jpg?dl=0
  6. Shinfield kebab van, just outside Reading. To this day the best kebab I've ever tasted - trust me I've had a few in my time - mixed chicken and doner, on a wrap, with hot chilli and garlic sauce, salad (no tomatoes) Drooling at the thought....
  7. 2004 Bentley Continental GT - £125k+ new, now under £30k with low miles! 198mph 0-62 in 3.5! Cheaper than a Nismo!
  8. I use Gtechniq G1 on the windscreen and G5 on the rest of the glass. Excellent products but as stated earlier - not cheap. If anyone is going to look into the Gtechniq products off the back of this thread, the EXOv2 is a fantastic product.
  9. Pleeeeeease don't let Mrs fatrab see that clip! She already likes the 'stang. Rather nice indeed!
  10. Surely there's an element though that these tyre "experts" should be set up to deal with every (or most) common scenario(s)? Its not as if lowered cars and bodykits are few and far between. I've got a low entry trolley jack, why haven't they? I think it was £40 from machine mart! We don't all drive mondeos and astras! Personally I wouldn't take my car to any fast fit centre unless it was an absolute necessity. But I agree that it's decent and fair enough that they've stopped before they damaged anything with the equipment that they had available.
  11. I'm about to build a 2+ car garage so that'll do away with most of the current back garden thankfully - was 8 hours last sunday mowing and chopping!! Another great tip for a future owner - thanks for that!!
  12. I'll say it before anyone else does - WAAAAYYY off topic.......
  13. Agreed! We've got a guy who cuts the grass at one of our houses who charges £7.50/visit and visits once every 2-3 weeks. He does most of the houses in the street so hence the "group-buy" price! Plus there's a retired gardener in our street who still has his (green) finger in and does all sorts of work for £8/hour
  14. Thank you Maybe try Chris @ Tarmac Sports - he did a set for the BRZ which also has frameless doors, perhaps the manufacturer of those might do sets for the 350z & 370z? I was the guinea pig for his first set on the BRZ, they worked well but aesthetically they were a bit "marmite"
  15. **Team Note** Please be aware if this trip goes ahead with non zeds or non forum members then it will be considered to be a non forum event and as such cannot be backed or supported by the forum. I don't get the point of your posts here. Am I being dumb? The OP has asked if any members want to go on a road trip. Where does "non-forum meet" or "full forum meet" come into play? As mentioned elsewhere, I've looked at other meets on this forum and don't recall this been mentioned. I'm on other forums and I've never heard this terminology used either. It's a road trip. Not a meet. It might be a road trip with meets along the way. Who cares? IMO you've piped up about something irrelevant that's now going to deter the conversation away from the purpose of the thread. I know Wendy asked about the insurance but she asked for a PM. Now go back and look at the flow of the thread before and after your "TEAM NOTE". It's as if you're just trying to start an arguement.
  16. If anyone fancies it, the next Tartan Tarmac Breakfast Meet is Sunday 27th Sept at Eurocentral 9.30am. I'll be in the Mazda6 as I sold my Focus ST yesterday but I'm still going to attend as I won't be able to make the October one. Be good to see you all again and hopefully I'll get a better chance to speak with you all this time (was occupied with the GT86/BRZs last time too!) Cheers!! Rab
  17. Hi Wendy, Like G-Man I also have extensive knowledge of the North West coast (George - we need to catch up for a pint and a chat mate, I've been going to Durness since I was 6 months old - I don't remember that specific trip but my parents assure me I was there haha) One thing I would like to put out there for consideration - If you are lucky enough to be in Durness (Faraid Head) for the Summer Solstice (on Monday 20th June 2016) it can be a spectacular night, if the weather holds and the sky stays clear, it doesn't actually get dark! There are organised hikes, camps and lterally hundreds of folks who venture north just for this one night. Also, the hike to Sandwood Bay is a must. BUT!!! I wouldn't go up that road in a Zed. You can drive so far, but then it's a good 2-3 mile walk. If I've got the Mazda6 with me I'll happily take some ramblers and we can go exploring! Just incase I haven't found the perfect Nismo by then and therefor will be driving said Mazda6, I'll watch this thread and by shear coincidence I'll follow the same route as you all, meet you all in the same places and stay in the same hotels!! I'm sure my own insurance will cover me to do this. If you need any help this side of the border in the meantime Wendy just let me know, I'm an events organiser on another forum (about to retire from that role as I don't have the car or the passion for it any more) and I love getting involved and bringing enthusiasts together - that's what the forum is about - isn't it? Look forward to seeing this thread evolve. Well done for organising and including everyone. Rab
  18. If you do go to Durness, pop into Balnakeil Craft village, Cocoa Mountain do the best hot chocolate you'll ever taste. And drive along to the road end, Balnakeil Church and Beach are stunning.
  19. Yeah it's ullapool, there's a sign in the background on the gtr confirming it. I hope you guys are going all the way up to durness, balnakiel, smoo cave and back via loch erribol, tounge and altnahara/ben hope. I'm envious!
  20. I want to say ullapool but I'm not 100% sure!
  21. No, but I wouldnt put it up on the office notice board - rubbing everyones faces in the fact that they weren't invited.
  22. I haven't asked them to post their exact route, timetable and itinerary. I just thought it was strange, based on what I've seen on other forums, that they haven't planned some sort of "meet" with other oop-norf members to coincide with their trip. It was just an observation and it does come across very cliquey to an outsider. Like I said, each to their own; I just hope that the differences that exist between certain members doesn't continue to have a bearing on the involvement of others. I am, of course, looking forward to seeing the pics too!!
  23. Nice attitude to take towards a relative "newbie". How to put someone off the forum in one easy move.... You're clearly right, I should ignore a thread posted on the forum relating to a car that I'm considering buying, especially when they're coming to my home country! Jeezus.....
  24. Agreed re. the old millitary road! I occasionally drove that road when the construction traffic was able to use it. You had to drive at 30mph! Go too fast or too slow and people with guns would be very cross with you!!! Much more fun now it's open to the general public! And the rest-and-be-thankful!! What a great road! My uncle was from Lochgilphead, had the pleasure of driving that road many times! Must do it again sometime soon.. Shame about all the cloak & dagger stuff going on, I'm sure plenty of other current and prospective owners would like to catch up with you all on your route, see your cars and make new acquaintances. I'm not in Scotland this week unfortunately, I'm sure loads of us up norf would've appreciated the invitation to meet up though...
  25. Nice car mate! I passed you in a silver Mazda6 estate, I had a good stare but you didn't look over!
