Grundy Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) Here's a collective post. If you had £20k to spend on a car, how would you spend it? http://www.teamtarmac.com/20k-budget/ edit** Edited February 12, 2016 by grundy225 Quote

BulletMagnet Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 And Steves paragraph had a swap, put the engine mod bit up one paragraph. 1 Quote
Ekona Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Good spot BM. For the record, I didn't do that bit of editing Quote
brillomaster Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 hmmm interesting! importing a car from 'murica may be a bit ambitious, but the other two look like a solid way of spending £20k! ps a couple of paragraphs in the MX5 build are the wrong way round. Quote
mouthwash Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 You guys just suck at reading comprehension...... Try again, looks fine to me................ Quote
BobbyZ Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Steve's choices get my vote. The MX-5 sounds like what I might choose for a track car if I had the cash for one, and I've always liked the E92 beemers. I could never live with a 996 911 - they just made such a mess of a fundamentally decent shape, I'd cringe every time I looked at it 2 Quote

Ekona Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Grundy, I think I know who we have to sack. Bye bye Mouthwash 1 Quote
Stutopia Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Another fun read lads It's not as easy as I initially thought it would be, there's a lot of decent stock stuff for that money (especially if you suspend servicing & maintenance costs). Quote
brillomaster Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 agreed the turbo'd MX5 sounds the best path to follow, but i'd go slightly different, and spend my £6 on an S2000, then 6k on a TTS Supersport Supercharger kit and have 400+bhp on tap 1 Quote

Ekona Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I did, and I even wanted an E92 M3 as well as my second choice by Steve beat me to it! Still, I genuinely would like to have a 996 and modify the pants off it. It's got more than enough power, and with just a few mods you can make it a real weapon. It may not look as good as a 993, but the chassis is a massive leap forward. Certainly a better drive than either the MX5 or the Chevvy. Quote
GeorgeW Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 didnt know about these articles, just went back and read through them, really enjoyed them. The one regarding people bad mouthing other peoples builds is very in tune right now, I have noticed it myself. 2 Quote
BulletMagnet Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) I'd prolly get a Toyota Aristo and go full VIP/Bippu style on it Edited February 12, 2016 by BulletMagnet Quote
AliveBoy Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 There's a million cars I'd buy, but I decided to try and "build" something epic that you wouldn't see every day. If I succeeded or not is up to you all 1 Quote
Paddy78 Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Another nice article guys. Funnily enough I've been looking at e92 M3's today following reading another thread... now looking at 996's! Quote
Ekona Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) A wise man doth post above me EDIT: Or on the previous page, even. Stupid forum page breaks! Edited February 12, 2016 by Ekona Quote
Deano94 Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Another interesting read guys. Me and my mates had a similar idea of if you 10k to buy and build your own track car what would it be? Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk Quote
grahamc Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) Interesting..... oddly always had a soft spot for the 996. Looked great when it first came out! For the MX5 I prefer the idea of a supercharger (instead of a turbo), but thats just me. Mine should be finished in a few weeks time And since its a mk2.5 I think its all in e for 10k Edited February 17, 2016 by grahamc Quote
Grundy Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 Our 10th Article is out! and it's a good'en. Our very own MrsNiki asked if she could write up an article for us. Was more than happy to accept. This piece is 10/10 and pretty much speaks for all of us on this forum. 'The modifying bug' http://www.teamtarmac.com/the-modifying-bug/ So huge thank you Niki 3 Quote
