I'm not so sure, it's not like it was loved when it came out. A stock green mk2 RS would be a better shout as a classic to make money on.

Anything with an internal combustion engine will be a future classic,

...I know so because gangzoom told me and we are all going to be driving electric vehicles within the next decade eradicating all these nasty noisy ICE vehicles. It will also lead to the end of poverty, world hunger and stop all wars apparently. :teeth::lol:;)

Don't forget the Nissan Leaf. Once Tesla take over the world, the Leaf will be revered as the groundbreaking, game changing, forward thinking pioneer that we have all been told it is. ;)

Mk1 RS Focus are climbing in value all the time, gone up around 10-20% in the last year (every time I change car I always have a cheeky look)

Of course the Gen 6 Celica GT-Four will be a future classic :teeth:

I guess it depends on your definition of "classic", something thats affordable and will hold its money or maybe rise very gradually or something which is sort after and collectable and an appreciating asset. I think there are quite a few mentioned that may be considered classic but dont think they will be sort after and exchanged for large sums of money.

S2000, already shooting up. Nobody wants a 300ZX despite being much rarer than the 350. Supra and RX7 should be worth something if you have one that hasn't been Barry'd. I personally love the fiat coupe and 916 Alfa GTV.

I think the Z32 Twin Turbo will start to increase in value over the next 5-10 years. Prices are low at the moment, I cant see them dropping much lower. They are still fast, rare and look great. Wouldn't be surprised to see the 944 Turbo fetch crazy money in the future.

That's when cars rotted away just looking at them. They don't do that any more.

They might not rot as easily but every accident over about 5 mph results in a write off so they disappear just as quick

Lets be honest basic escorts are fetching silly money because they get rodded. Nobody wanted an 1100 MK1 then and they dont now but they want it as a donor vehicle.

So much good engineering and idea`s about today you just never know what might become attractive as a shell.

+1 to that, ST185 have been slowly going up in value, I sold mine a year ago and made 3k on what I bought it for :teeth:

And actually the VX220 is going up in price. Two years ago you could buy a rare VXR version for £16k now standard turbo versions are going for that price. Found one similar to my NA going for just under £10k, sold mine two years back for £8k. Can only see these going up in value and viewed as a classic.

Both the TVR T350 and Sagaris have jumped about 50% in the last few years. when I looked a while ago you could pick them up for about £20k & £40k respectively, now they're more like £30k & £60k. I would love a Sag... kinda wish I'd got one instead of the 350...

If I had an extra garage and I know they have already increased in price over the last few years. The mk 1 golf GTI 1.6 in black would be the one for me!

I've seen a couple of Mk1 Golf GTI's up for sale recently and been very very tempted. Trouble is I do have a bit of spare garage space at the mo. So trying to resist as much as possible.

I think there are plenty of classics out there at the moment to buy and enjoy, which aren't too stupidly expensive.

There is that subtle difference between what's an affordable classic, which will increase in value over time. And those cars which will over the next few years, become seen as 'investments' and in ten years, become quickly unaffordable.

All I need is more money and more garage space
