  1. Sorry I can’t be more help as it was so long ago. I seem to recall just wiring into the reversing wire to trigger/power it, earthing it, and running the video cables to the front to the head unit. Maybe I was just lucky??
  2. Not sure about a kit, but I installed one when I had my 370z roadster. Just got a cheap number plate style one off eBay and it worked perfect. Have had a look back on my original build, but unfortunately there’s no real info and being 8 years ago I can’t remember much about it.
  3. Merry Christmas to you to George, and to all the other great members on the wonderful forum! All the best for 2023
  4. Don’t know what happened there, why it’s posted 4 times 🙈
  5. That would be me Pete. Ive still got the R8 and I have to say that despite all the scaremongering about running costs it is definitely as described - a supercar you can drive every day (if you want to). I’ve had mine 2 1/2years now and it doesn’t cost any more than my Zed did. Tax is the same, insurance about the same (if not a bit less 😳, but I am old ha ha). Servicing is not too bad, I use independent garage as Audi are feckin useless and charge R8 tax! Would I recommend one - definitely. I know mine is a Gen 2 V10 and the guy is looking at possibly a V8. The dampers can be replaced at quite a reasonable cost nowadays, there’s a guy on the forums (in Europe) who can provide them on a swap or buy basis. The big issue with the V8 is the aircon motor - this is an engine out job! Make sure it’s working. On the V10 it can be sorted in situ (difficult but doable). The Perfomance of the V8 isn’t great by modern day standards, but the handling is sublime, and the manual ones are becoming quite sought after. @tomato I see you’re in West Yorkshire, not too far from me (North Yorkshire), you’re more than welcome to come and have a go in mine
  6. Water filters are great if you want to just wash your car and leave it to dry, even in direct sunlight. The only issue I’ve found is if you put the car back into the garage still wet it still leaves watermarks, if left outside they’re perfect
  7. Was at a car event with the missus the other week and she saw a VW Camper style bar for sale in the cafe for a ridiculous price. I told her I’d make her one for a fraction of the cost 😄 (tight git). Anyway, two tv cabinets (one free and one £10) a bit of stainless sheet and a few accessories later -
  8. Ok no worries. I wouldn’t use it to try and dry the whole car, but I’ve used it to blow the majority of the water off then used a drying towel to finish off. It is however great for drying wheels and getting into all the little nooks and crannies like behind wing mirror glass, vents and stuff
  9. @Andy_Muxlow I don’t, but I could do one for you. Is there anything specific about it you’d like to see?
  10. I use this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07HYVZFH8?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details A lot cheaper (yes I’m tight 😂) but just as effective
  11. Someone’s getting a good well looked after car 👍. What are you replacing it with?
  12. Nice little run out in the sunshine to NY500
  13. @Sim Thanks very much. They were done by Si at hide’n’seat. He was a member on here, not sure if he still is. Great guy and did a fantastic job, he’s done quite a few cars on here
  14. Anyone want this before I bin it. Can have it for free if you collect. It’s not in too bad condition, however the joins between the carbon and the leather are not great (hence the reason I replaced it). I’d rather let someone on here have it than scrap it. Collection only, from TS14
  15. Think I’ve changed the wheels on every car I’ve had. . . . . . Except this one, think they suit the car so much
  16. Hello and welcome. Nice looking car, won’t be long before the modding starts
  17. Yeah bigger turbos and all the ancillary’s. If your talking R8’s they’re on a whole different level! I wanted one for years, but didn’t think it would be worth the extra cost as it wouldn’t be much (if any) faster than my TT - oh how wrong I was! I bought a V10+ and it’s way better than my TT. The handling is unreal, and the whole driving experience is in another league
  18. I ran a modified mk2 TTrs for 7 years, 5 of those alongside my 370z roadster and I can definitely say the TT was cheaper to run. Despite being stage 3 (~575bhp) it was roughly the same cost to insure, the tax was less than half that of the Zed, and servicing was about the same (done at an independent). Mpg was better in the TT - unless I was booting it, which, actually come to think of it was most of the time In all those years it was ultra reliable, never had a single fault. I would say the build quality was significantly better than the Zed (not that there was anything wrong with the Zed). Performance wise even a standard TTrs would be quicker than a nismo, but before I get shot down, it’s not RWD and that would be the clincher for a lot of people. Depends what you ultimately want the car for. If you’re considering a mk3 they’re a big leap forward again over the mk2. Better performance, more modern tech, easily tunable to around 500bhp with just a remap
  19. Ok, except yours . But yours isn’t ‘really’ a Vauxhall is it
  20. Just offshore from near where I live is a huge wind farm, which, you would think, would provide a big (environmentally friendly) contribution to the national grid . Well, these were often seen to be not spinning (I.e. generating electricity). When asked why the answer was they can’t operate if it isn’t windy enough, fair enough you may think, but also they can’t operate if it’s too windy! WTF! Surely in this day and age there is technology out there to allow these to operate at variable speeds?
  21. Vauxhall’s are for people who’ve given up on life Thats all I’m saying
  22. And that’s when it’s time to quit driving and use public transport! It’s thoughts like this that make me glad I’m getting old, by the time all this happens I’ll only need a car to pick up my prescriptions . Also glad I live nowhere near a big city, so will have freedom of the open road a little longer
  23. My daily is a diesel Evoque, but a few times lately I’ve had a hybrid hire car (for work) and even though it’s not been a car I would normally even take a second glance at, for round town and chauffeuring the grandkids I’m considering the possibility of one next to replace the Evoque. Don’t think I’d ever (well certainly not in the near future) go for a full electric car
  24. Managed to get in a late afternoon run across the spectacular North Yorkshire moors. These roads are amazing, and literally 5mins from my house! Just have to keep a keen eye out for sheep as for some reason the exhaust noise seems to scare the @*!# out of them
