Is this an early DE or a later Rev Up or HR ? Ignore that, just noticed early DE. Okay, check that the ECV is not jammed. If the valve is okay, no point in messing about with further diagnoses. If there are no external leaks then I am afraid it is engine build jobby.

Pull out the spring loaded part of the pump as far as it will go and clip the jet and cover back on.

Pull out the jet covers by hand and release the 2 clips with a small flat blade. The jet is screwed to the cover so it comes off as one.

I don't think that Haynes do a UK version for the 350Z, however the USA one is very similar albeit LHD.
