A common issue if you upgrade the clutch. You have the choice of OEM or upgraded pivot balls . The Chromoly pivot ball is much stronger than the OEM carbon steel. Best to replace the washer and the retaining spring as well.

It is one continuous piece and is a pain to remove and fit. It should not effect the MOT so I would leave it alone.

Cold, thick, water pump grease is best as it compresses much better that thin warm stuff.
