I think that you are grasping at straws mate. Run it without the stat and report back.

If the thermostat does not open at the correct temperature then you have a faulty thermostat. Just because your gauge is hitting the red does not necessarily mean that you have a faulty stat. I would start with bleeding the system and getting ALL the air out. Also, check that your fans are kicking in.

The only thing that you cannot adjust on a stock set up is the front camber and castor.

This is a very difficult repair and not something I would undertake and I am a good welder. I have a pair of these, however, one is also cracked. Looks like we have a good pair between us. How does £100.00 sound? Alex.
