  1. Bloody hell, BF4 is very pretty I couldn't care less about 720/900/1080 whatevers, all I know is that in isolation on my setup it's stunning to look at.
  2. I think you're getting a bit muddled, but not necessarily your fault as some products offer a combination of effects. A polish adds shine by removing defects. This what makes your paint look pretty. A wax protects this shine. This can add depth to a finish as well. Not sure what product it is you're using for those instructions, but they're wrong. What they should say is BUFF to a high gloss shine, not polish. Whatever it is, those instructions make it sound like a wax/sealant rather than a polish, especially as it says to put it over the plastics & trim: No (decent) polish should ever be put on those, as it'll stain and mark it.
  3. DON'T FORGET TOMORROW FOLKS I'll be there in the black 911 with the Martini-esque stickers over the car. I'm friendly enough, come say hi
  4. Come and do my fleet, will you? I can't be arsed right now. Looks lovely mate
  5. Used a free sample on the Impreza bonnet when we had it. Glad it was free. Wouldn't bother again, but then it's better than no protection at all.
  6. In other news, I caved and got my bro to buy me BF4 today instead of Lego Marvel like I originally wanted. Gonna go play it in a bit, and hopefully it'll be better than I remember generic FPS modern war games being. Mainly the 64 player online stuff sounds like it could be a hoot, if not full of mindless cretins.
  7. It is USB, yes. I'm in two minds. In principle yes, I would like them to support legacy devices so I could go out and purchase a Fanatec setup, but then part of me wants them to move forward and not hold back. There's a good reason that they can't just release drivers, and it's to do with the signals that the Xbone uses to control the feedback to different motors within the controllers (pads, wheels, whatever). Don't ask me the ins and outs, I'm no software engineer, but you would think that there simply has to be a very real technological reason why it's not just a case of drivers.
  8. I felt the same, but I'm starting to gel a bit more with the controller now. The rumble triggers help massively to give you the feedback, and whilst the assisted steering is ace for bumble-thumbed nincompoops like myself, if you set it to simulation and are very very very very gentle with the inputs then it's a pretty good approximation. It'll never be as good as a wheel, which is why I'm desperate to get my hands on one, but it's not half bad if you give it a fair go.
  9. No, we haven't. There is zero excuse for doing 50 in a 30, end of. 9PM. Pitch black. School disco near by, so very real likelihood of lots of kids around. Conditions not great. That kind of driving falls well short of what would be expected by a competent driver. I'm not having a go at the OP for being honest (in fact he should be applauded, too many people try to make excuses) and yeah, the kid aspect is quite humorous, but I personally cannot look at that set of circumstances and just laugh it off. If people want to do 100mph on the motorways or similar speeds on well sighted roads, then that's their prerogative. Not something I'd do, but I don't see a massive amount of harm in it at all. However, 50 in a 30 is almost never acceptable, and certainly not in a built up area on a winter night when there's kids around.
  10. Don't judge us all by your standards, please.
  11. Monaco is dull as anything these days, we only really watch it for the famous posh totty that goes there. Spa for me.
  12. Yeah, in case it's no obvious my GT is Ekona, so all feel free to add me. Have I been defensive about the console? Genuine question, don't mean to sound arsey bud. I know I defended showing it off, but I apply that to if I'd bought a PS4 as well. I don't think it's perfect, but it's definitely perfect for me. Some more games would be nice, but I'm happy to wait for them.
  13. Because you can then go faster as well, which is the whole reason for upgrading the brakes
  14. Side lights should never have been called side lights. If they'd called them parking lights, which is pretty much all they should be used for, people might have a clue when to use them.
  15. I always found them okay for wear on track, but then I don't tend to slide the car a lot. Unless there's someone in front of me doing the same then I feel compelled to join in
  16. I used to get that of the VXR, but thinking about it you'd probably do worse in the Zed as it weighs twice as much...
  17. Good to see Perez sticking around, he had a rough time at McLaren and deserved better from them. IMHO they should've kept him and ditched Button. So, stupidly early predictions then: 1. Vettel 2. Rosberg 3. Ricciardo 1. RB 2. Merc 3. Ferrari
  18. Doesn't mean that it's not an MOT fail
  19. You'd be fine to drive on them in those conditions. My first ever drive in the VXR was in horrendous weather and this was back when I gave very little thought about the tyres, and they held up without a care in the world. Wear will be horrendous, expect to see around 5-7k miles out of them depending on driving style. That's on the GG (medium) compound, which is the most common one.
  20. If the wipers touch it, then it's an MOT fail. Solution: Remove strip or fit smaller wipers for the test I like them in general (I used to run one on mine at LM time), but that one looks a little odd to my eyes. I can't figure out why. Might be because it's a big slab of black just down from more black, or the logo is too small and too high, or it might just be one of those things you need to see in the flesh. Good on you for trying it though
  21. Looks good It's wash, polish then wax though
  22. At risk of repeating myself for a third time, it all depends on the insurer (!). Some will charge an admin fee. Some will not. Some will charge a standard "modified now" fee of £100 + the admin, but then you'll only pay the admin fee for further mods. Some will charge you a small fortune for anything and everything as they don't want that kind of risk for their business. You'll have to ring them and ask them.
  23. Good as gold. I've used them on the Zed and the VXR in the past across all weathers and they were fine, as long as you drive to the conditions. In the same way that if there was a torrential downpour and you had tyres with half their tread on you'd be a bit careful, the same applies to these. What I think some people do (not you, in general) is see the words "semi-slick" then just assume they'll be awful on anything other than a dry track. The truth is that they are E-marked road legal tyres, and as such had to pass strict tests to get that marking. If they were terrible in the wet, then they wouldn't be able to sell them in the EU. If you can generate a bit of heat into them, then they stick like anything.
