There are of course exceptions, and something like yours proves that as the mileage alone ensures all gremlins should be well gone by now. 90k in 9 years is twice my personal 5K p/a limit (my maffs is awesoem innit), so I'd consider yours if I were in the market.

I'd be amazed if most of these failures were down to anything other than either wrong fuel or more likely lack of oil. The Zed has been around too long now and the DE lump even longer, so if there was an inherent fault then it would likely have shown its face by now.

I doubt it'll ever be finally sorted, EA's not that kind of company. It's still fun, even with the glitches. I bought Lego Marvel today. I did have it preordered for release date, and then found out it was half price if you bought it on the launch date, but then it got postponed a week. There could be all sorts of hidden gremlins hiding. Modern cars are designed to be used, when they're not you end up with bits seizing and snapping and breaking and electrical probs via condensation etc. Each to their own, of course, but I wouldn't consider a car that had done less than 5K a year average. Certainly wouldn't pay a premium of anything below that.

I don't think I'd want a car that old with that few miles on. Just over 2K miles a year, that's just asking for issues if you start using it more regularly! Take your time mate, no rush and there's plenty out there for choice, be well worth it when you do get one

I'd be more worried about incidental costs rather than general running costs. Fuel, tax, insurance, you can figure that out and budget for that easily enough. What about when you need a set of tyres all round at £800? Or brakes? Or the engine lunches itself and that's £1500 thank you sir? If you've got the slushfund all set then I say go for it, the Zed is an incredibly rewarding car, but if not then the price might be too high to pay.

Oil pressure should never be taken as oil level. That's not to say I didn't used to do it, but it's only because I was taking regular readings with the (crappy!) dipstick and I got to know the engine. That was on a Revup though. It's still a Very Bad Idea to do that! You're not alone mate, the dipstick is useless and sometimes it really is best guess. Best way to do it is to drain the oil, refill with exactly 4.7L (IIRC?) and then see what the stick says. At least that way you know what you're looking for when it's bang on top.

Let me put it this way: 95RON could break your engine if you've a DE or Revup car. That should help you justify it a bit.

Not a huge issue IMHO, these are test tyres and won't be used again. If they don't know where the failure point is, then they can't move forwards. Unlucky it was Rosberg and at 200mph, but that's what testing is for.

What's wrong with the yellow one? Sure, it's a bit 355 at the rear and a bit S2K at the front, but at least it's not full of sharp angles like that black thing. Green one is nice though, but def needs a bit of tarting up on the inside too.

Strangely, I'm not keen on that and I adore the G and Aventador. Looks a bit fat in the middle.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with running them. I've only limited experience with them myself, as I prefer to stick to summers throughout the year, I was only pointing out that winters =/= safe and winters =/= better in all conditions during the winter period. If people want to run them then that's great, I appreciate that some needs them more than others (especially the northern folk).

Tyres aren't exactly made of sandpaper though, are they? Flawed analogy. I'm sure winter tyres would stop better than summer tyres on the same sheet of ice, but if one takes 200m to stop and one takes 210m then it's two halves of naff all. Winter tyres won't make you invicible on stuff like that, is the point I'm trying to make. Same as 4WD doesn't automatically mean it's safe to do 70mph on slush when other sensible drivers are doing 50mph.
