I always found them okay for wear on track, but then I don't tend to slide the car a lot. Unless there's someone in front of me doing the same then I feel compelled to join in
-
I used to get that of the VXR, but thinking about it you'd probably do worse in the Zed as it weighs twice as much...
-
Good to see Perez sticking around, he had a rough time at McLaren and deserved better from them. IMHO they should've kept him and ditched Button. So, stupidly early predictions then: 1. Vettel 2. Rosberg 3. Ricciardo 1. RB 2. Merc 3. Ferrari
-
Doesn't mean that it's not an MOT fail
-
You'd be fine to drive on them in those conditions. My first ever drive in the VXR was in horrendous weather and this was back when I gave very little thought about the tyres, and they held up without a care in the world. Wear will be horrendous, expect to see around 5-7k miles out of them depending on driving style. That's on the GG (medium) compound, which is the most common one.

If the wipers touch it, then it's an MOT fail. Solution: Remove strip or fit smaller wipers for the test I like them in general (I used to run one on mine at LM time), but that one looks a little odd to my eyes. I can't figure out why. Might be because it's a big slab of black just down from more black, or the logo is too small and too high, or it might just be one of those things you need to see in the flesh. Good on you for trying it though

Looks good It's wash, polish then wax though

At risk of repeating myself for a third time, it all depends on the insurer (!). Some will charge an admin fee. Some will not. Some will charge a standard "modified now" fee of £100 + the admin, but then you'll only pay the admin fee for further mods. Some will charge you a small fortune for anything and everything as they don't want that kind of risk for their business. You'll have to ring them and ask them.

Good as gold. I've used them on the Zed and the VXR in the past across all weathers and they were fine, as long as you drive to the conditions. In the same way that if there was a torrential downpour and you had tyres with half their tread on you'd be a bit careful, the same applies to these. What I think some people do (not you, in general) is see the words "semi-slick" then just assume they'll be awful on anything other than a dry track. The truth is that they are E-marked road legal tyres, and as such had to pass strict tests to get that marking. If they were terrible in the wet, then they wouldn't be able to sell them in the EU. If you can generate a bit of heat into them, then they stick like anything.
-
Nope, never going to be banned. There was talk that they wouldn't be able to be made when the EU brought in these regs that tyres must last for a certain amount of time, but they got that bit of legislation spot-on and all it did was to kill the seriously crappy chinese tyres and left us with the good stuff Give them a go, you'll love them.

Fixed It all depends on what your insurance policy says. If it's one of the Admiral group it will say something like "anything that alters the car from the specification from which a standard car would leave the factory, including any options or dealer-fit accessories" or words to that effect. Others are less strict. As I said, tell them everything and you can never be at fault. Including stubbies.
-
It's down to the insurer, end of. Some will not care about anything, as long as it does not increase power. Some will charge you if you so much as change the gear knob. The only safe answer is to tell them about absolutely everything, and let them make the call.

Got them delivered today (great service by DT), so had them fitted this afternoon. Now, I know they're brand new. I know the release agent is still to come off. I know the roads are cold and slippery. BUT HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP I HAVE SO MUCH GRIP I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT ALL!!! :D I really, really love these tyres. R888s FTW FTW!* *For the winter for the win

What car are you using then?
-
I've got three Dreamcasts
-
I'm currently doing the PH challenge, so it's Alps Festival in class C for me with this: Ekona BRZ 2:02.725 Clean We can do a Spa one as well if you like, I don't have any A700 cars though I don't think.

Wot no original MS??!! Nice setup, I like that you have them on display. Mine are all shoved in boxes in the loft. How small does the SNES look against the others though?!
-
Yeah but primarily you bought it for yourself didn't you ??? So you're not doing it for a 'look at me' effect, you didn't do it to show off, it just so happens that that item is considered by some to be desirable. Probably a better way of phrasing it than I used, fair play. I think there's a distinction between showing off and bragging though. Showing off would be when someone gets a set of wheels they like and puts pics up of them on their car after a full day working on cleaning it; bragging would be spending a small fortune on blingy parts and putting them on just because you can, with no effort done yourself other than writing the cheques.

My e-peen is huge, Xbone and a 911! I can't speak for others, but I enjoyed showing off the fact I've got an Xbone. I work bloody hard for my money, and I like buying new shiny things, and I'll be buggered if I'm going to be ashamed of that. I won't flaunt it like a twit, but I won't hide the fact either.
-
Scary. I will say though that people shouldn't assume that dealers = bad and indies = good: You can get some great main dealers (I used to use Glyn Hopkin in Stortford and they were excellent) as well as some pretty poor 'specialists' (I had a very poor experience at Everything MX5 in Romford). As always, evaluate as best you can but don't keep your tin foil hat or your rose-tinted spectacles on permanently

He had no legal comeback other than what was offered. That sucks, and I feel for him, but that's why he went public and told everyone the truth. If (and I know it's an if) he's now getting better treatment from EH but only if he deletes what was said on the internet then that's cowardly and selfish, and blights the community. Hushing something up is disgraceful after the truth has already been released.

Both consoles were rushed to market sadly, but then neither company wanted to miss this holiday period. You're right, they were getting paid, but with the bulging market that is the trade-in market along with the huge increase in dev costs, they had to do something to maintain a profitable business.
-
Yes. They've been ace with me with the MX5 and MR2, very helpful and amazingly competitive.

If that's the reason it's been deleted, then the OP is a coward and I hope karma rapes his face off.

Webber didn't take too many points from Vettel that I can remember, and Ricciardo will have a point to prove. I can see why double points is getting peoples' backs up, but tbh I don't mind that much. Could well make Abu Dhabi an interesting race for a change!
