  1. Daft question time, please don't take these to heart as I'm genuinely interested and think I may have been a bit harsh in the first place after your last post OP! 1. Is this your first car? 2. Is this your first petrol car? 3. How many years have you been driving for? 4. Do you drive any other vehicles regularly?
  2. With no spring yes, the piston should be as free as anything. Sounds like the whole thing has corroded itself shut, you'll definitely need a new one.
  3. Alonso wants titles, not money. Realistically that means Merc or RB, unless Ferrari show some massive improvement in which case he'll stay put. McLaren are not the team to drive for right now. Button would be better off trying to find a different team, unless he's happy just pulling in a wage.
  4. It will be when you get it sideways
  5. Why would he? RB are still better than Ferrari despite a crap engine, and McLaren are bloody awful despite having an amazing engine. If he was going to move anywhere, it would be to MB but that's very unlikely given how Rosberg has just signed a new deal and Lewis is the joint best driver on the grid. Maybe Alonso will fancy a move to RB, but I can't see Seb going the other way.
  6. Too young, IMHO. No doubt he's talented (RB/TR don't sign crap drivers), but he hasn't even begun to learn his race craft yet. Where does this leave people like Carlos Sainz Jr? Too old already? Left on the scrapheap at 19? This time last year it was a toss up between JEV and Ricciardo for the seat at RB. Now JEV is out on his ear without a seat as yet. Tough sport, this.
  7. It's a much better car by all accounts, so I think you've probably made the right choice for you. I'll have to get a go in one soon, I think.
  8. Okay, so you don't want something that stands out then! Good choice sir, and huge man points for not messing around just getting one bought.
  9. Actually, it could be an issue with the guffinsprocket on the crank end.
  10. Given there is no engine brake in the Zed, then what else could he be talking about? Off the gas, no power being applied, downhill, same speed. Engine braking, 100%.
  11. I've never used WinBackup, although I do have it set up. In short though, what you really want is something that will copy an image of your drive: WinBackup likely just protects your files. That's my assumption anyway.
  12. What planet are you from? Engine location and driven wheels has nothing to do with engine braking: Please don't confuse the OP anymore than he already is! GMballistic explains it best, although diesels do engine brake as well just nowhere near as much due to them working via compression rather than spark.
  13. I was only half joking. If you want it for the look, just buy a gauge and connect a short bit of hose to it, then run that hose down to somewhere no one will ever see and leave it there. Saves the cost and the hassle.
  14. Dollar specifically asked for my parent's licences AND IDP when they went out in a March before they would rent them a car. Not a problem anymore as they bought the Camero, but done companies do ask.
  15. Just stick a gauge there anywhere then, don't connect it to anything.
  16. Actually, that's a good point: Does the budget allow for PCP as well as HP? Because that's going to open up a whole new world if so... Or hell, go leased and do it that way.
  17. Great cars, not for the OPs budget though.
  18. M135i, or the M235i if you want a boot. I discounted those as he said he wanted something that stands out.
  19. Can't be more than 4 years old, in the first post. Shame, but I can see the logic.
  20. That's a fuel pressure gauge, if I'm not very much mistaken. *EDIT* In the pics, not your adaptor tee Alex!
  21. If you don't lock the brakes, you're not braking hard enough. Make sure you lock them on the first lap, at least that way you'll have a measure of them. Not sure how much experience you have with MR cars, but it's a hell of a lot different than FR so plenty of judgement on balance is needed.
  22. :scare: Hand your man card in now! Never seen an Evora, I'm so disappointed.
  23. They look like fly eyes. They're bloody disgusting.
  24. For me, it was between two clear cars, which are Neil's and Bizz's. The amount of custom fab work on Bizz's car is astounding, and goes far beyond the realms of anything that should be achievable in a car without spending a fortune. As a competition car it needs accurate knowledge of the rules of that, as well as being tailored to what the driver wants. Oh, and V8 of course. As far as Zeds go, it's just about the most exciting one I've ever seen. And yet, I voted for Neil. I've long admired his car, and the way he set about choosing the mods for it that are sympathetic to each other, as well as keeping it fairly subtle for what is a very high-spec and highly modified car is to be commended. If I was building a Zed, it might well have come out like that too. I don't know enough about Csmith's car to pass comment but it's a nice colour, Delboy's and AMT's cars are good clean examples of a (nearly) standard car and I'm just not a fan of Amy's bodykit. On another day I might well have gone for Bizz's, but my long time admiration for Neil's car meant he got my vote. Definitely group of death though!
  25. Okay, so in that case no, a 2007 HR exhaust would not fit a 2003 DE car. A good exhaust place should be able to weld you a new flange on easily enough. However, I'd be tempted to use it as an excuse for an entire new exhaust anyway, but that's just me
