  2. I bought a Sony Trinitron 32" CRT for 99p from eBay I do run them via scart, but the TV allows you to change the screen display from 16:9 to 4:3, so I get the best of both worlds. I'd forgotten just how good TV speakers can be though: We're so used to LCD tellies having crap speakers, but back then they had the space to put something decent in and the Sony ones are utterly superb. The music on RIdge Racer and Soul Caliber comes through in perfect clarity. I've ordered a Megadrive as well now, and although I really wanted an original one I discovered that they only output sound in mono. It wasn't until the Megadrive II that the scart output carried sound in stereo, so I reluctantly bought one of those instead.
  3. They'll probable be £2500 to buy used by this time next year Took her out for a blat today, and discovered that it's got a two-stage traction control system. One push disables the stability, holding it disables everything. Very handy when you want the car to move around a bit, but still with a safety net.
  4. Today I have been mostly playing SF2T on SNES, Tenchu and MGS on PS1, and Soul Caliber and RE:CV on DC I've also spent a small fortune trolling eBay for games from all my systems, buying from the UK, Cloggyland and the USA
  5. Why on earth do you need that many speakers? Just get some quality ones over quantity.
  6. True. Although it won't make as much difference as you think, so don't worry about it.
  7. I expected to have to do the clutch and brakes during my ownership, so whether I did it now or on 6mths made no odds to me. I bought from a dealer so in theory could go back and argue the toss on some of the bits, but then I wouldn't consider that morally right as I'd already haggled on the cost of the car and tbh anyone buying a ten year old car with 100k on the clock shouldn't expect perfection. Now if the engine blew up that would be different...! Nope, if I'd waited and got an inspection I'd have lost the car to someone else, and these things are like hens teeth. Take a chance, some you win and some you lose. I now have a perfect car for pretty much peanuts, so I'm still happy enough
  8. but then it would've come with a price tag in 5 digits not 4, and no manual, and I'd have been terrified to put any miles on it. Nah, cars are for driving, and this was such a bargain that I had spare cash left over.
  9. Exactly why the basic Zed cars are so much fun, as you can use 100% of the power without too much worry On a track car then sure, more power is usually better, but for a road car once you get to around 200bhp/ton then there's not really anything that's going to hold you up.
  10. Hopefully we'll never get to find out, but I'd like to think I'm right and you're not capable of that. I could understand someone going mental, wading in with fists until exhausted, but cold blooded torture? No, I think it takes a particular kind of person to do that.
  11. We had a similar conversation on here many years ago, and I maintain that although we all say "Oh yeah, skin him up, cut his knackers off, bathe him in vinegar", I don't think anyone one here is vicious enough to actually do that in person, nor witness it. Do I personally feel he should suffer? Yes. Do I think we should sink to torture? No. Prosecute, then execute swiftly and as humanely as possible.
  12. He signed off most of his tweets with that though. But yeah, you'd hope his doctors told him and he knew.
  13. I wonder if he knew when he posted that? I hope so. I hope he knew the end was near, and said what he needed to say to his loved ones.
  14. Disagree. The reason we're 'better' is that we wouldn't sink to those levels.
  15. Hanging up in my lounge... I have others by Marina Sirtis, Michael Dorn, Avery Brooks, and the entire cast of DS9. Not forgetting talking badges, mugs, signed comics, statues, plastic toys, posters etc... Full on Trekker here
  16. Again, I sound like a broken record but this is just so impressive. I hate rear mount turbos with a passion, but massive kudos for this project my friend
  17. Don't make me show you pics of my collection!
  18. Nope, fans of Star Trek refer to themselves as Trekkers, we always have done. Outsiders used Trekkies as an insult, so we never adopted it.
  19. Trekkers, actually. Genuine sad face about this, he was a decent guy who kept working with the brand that made him famous right up until the end. Live long and prosper, Mr Nimoy.
  20. I suspect the TTS was sold in fewer numbers than the 370 was If you want to drive then stick with the 370. If you want more of a cruiser with the ability to be tuned up to silly BHP but with a much better interior, get the TTS. Personally I'd pick up an older V6 TT with your gearbox of choice, as they sound absolutely glorious on full chat and won't be any slower in the real world than a 370, and probably quicker if the S Tronic 'box is there.
  21. Well, you can try any of the following: Braintree Motor Works Harrison Drive, 01376 327577 BMW, Mini and US car specialists, but they're VERY competent mechanics and I'd use them for any vehicle. They did my recent work on the BMW. CL PanelCraft Harrison Drive, 01376 320590 Jag specialists, but again they work to the highest standards. They've worked on both my MR2 and MX-5. CJ Eley Coggeshall Road, 01376 322515 General mechanics, we've known the owners for 20+ years and they've worked on practically every car I've ever had, including the Zed. I'd be happy to recommend any of those, I really would.
  22. I can give you the details of a couple of garages in Braintree that would be happy to do this for you if you like?
