So you want a car that's monstrously quick in a straight line for £25k? Any other must haves/have nots?

Anyone can go fast in a straight line, it's being quick in the corners that's the real challenge.

Unless you really like modifying your car yourself, or have a ton of money you want to throw away, I'd just get a faster car. Hell, for the money you're talking you could get a Caterfield and use that for fun quick thrills.

The key is the prep. Use a decent pad (I like the Lake Country ones) with a light cutting agent like a Lime Prime, and then wipe off using a good microfibre. Apply your favourite wax by hand, then wipe off again. That'll give you a pretty decent start, at least. Buffing after a waxing isn't needed really, at that point you're just removing excess wax. All you need is a decent MF and you'll be sorted.

Stock for stock, I'd say the DC5 sounds better. A few tweaks though, and the V6 sounds better than any four pot ever could.

I'm now in the process of building my retro collection PS1 turned up today, ordered a few games from ebay to go with (GT1, Tekken, Destruction Derby, RR1 & Tenchu), and hopefully picking up a 32" CRT next week too. Still got the SNES, GC, Saturn and DCs as well, will probably grab a NES too. I may get a MS and a MD too, hopefully with M-CD and 32X just for giggles if I can get them cheap enough.

RIght, bit more work on this today. Finally. Swapped out the ABS unit for the spare, however that was not without issues. All the mounting bolts came undone easy enough, however the lower three brake pipes were a bit more awkward, which meant that as you're struggling with them all your brake fluid is p*ssing out all over the floor And of course, being super-sensible I didn't bother emptying the reservoir beforehand (thinking it wouldn't take that long) so all my nice new blue brake fluid ended up over the floor. Then came the really fun job of trying to get a large box with larger brackets out from a tiny gap full of cables. Yeah, that went as well as you can imagine... Anyways, all I needed to do was to top the fluid back up and test, so I just grabbed the spare bottle of fluid I had handy. OH NO WAIT I DIDN'T BECAUSE I DON'T CHUFFING HAVE ANY :rant: So I can't even test it, as I've had to order some from Driftworks. Arse. Oh, and whoever said a little while ago that ATE Super Blue was now impossible to get as it was illegal, Driftworks have loads in stock if you need some
