  1. Cheers Mate, That is so close it is worth going there just for a browse.
  2. Interesting, but not fast to evolve successfully, I got bored before it made it .
  3. Have tried the chinese cake now. Nice Dragon, eh? Ok, I could be persuaded to walk that far, cheers for the invite for a free meal (just kidding)
  4. I had a LPG conversion on my old Alfa V6. I got the same warnings about valve seats but if you use a bit of petrol now and then it's ok. I did save a lot of money but it was a PITA too as the tank only allowed you to do 200 miles. I was always in the shell garage! The 'old tank' did 250K miles, at least 200K on LPG, and was quite happy. Lost a little power though, but who cares when cruising on the motorway? Saved me a fortune, kept the engine clean and was kind(er) to the sparrows and squirrels
  5. Yes, they became illegal many years ago, except on forklifts etc. Ooh, real wood effect!!
  6. PM sent for a new order this morning Andrew
  7. Sounds like a sticky brake, mate. The calliper may need removing and cleaning up.
  8. yeah, I saw the conveyer had gone. The bread point, on the corner on the way down to Richer Sounds? Looks nice (smells great!) but haven't tried it yet. Sagawa I have heard good things about but never tried. After trying a few local 'chinese' restaurants I have pretty much given up on them - all the ones in chinatown seem to be minkin'. I had high hopes for Mangos but it was shite.
  9. Very nice! Good looking 5zigen on there too
  10. It's dead easy to do, I was surprised that I could have done it in about 2 hours including console out and back. Some tips I picked up when removing the console: a) you need a philips (X-head) screwdriver at least 15cm long to get to some of the screws use a magnetic screwdriver (or put a magnet on the shaft). It makes taking the screws out and feeding them back in easier and stops you dropping them (you will definitely drop one otherwise). disconnect the ribbon to the aircon controls - its easier c) you have to pull the control unit (what the aircon ribbon cable connects to) forwards a good few inches so you can get the bottom of the console fully out. d) when taking the plugs out of the back of the Bose, twist the entire console through 90 degrees and use a small screwdriver to poke the tabs that lock the plugs in place. Fingers can't push hard enough and the tabs are on the bottom so are fiddly to get to. When you take apart the Bose, there is an extra screw that holds the bottom on which goes through the heatsink - you will spot it. Good luck - it's a great mod!
  11. The cable you are using should be shielded audio cable so will be a core wire surrounded by coloured insulation, then this is covered by a wire sheath (made of lots of woven copper wires), then finally covered with the outer layer of insulation. You have one of these for the left channel and one for the right channel. When you strip the insulation back for each wire, twist the two wire sheaths together into one. That is your earth wire (A-GND). You need to use a sheilded cable to protect from RF interference (there is a lot of this in a car!). Use something like this and chop the phono plugs off the end. http://www.mkcables.com/35mm-stereo-plu ... p-623.html
  12. Do you mean St Sushi, that is just down the road from me and I love to go there
  13. The Independent has bumped the value up to 6M and says there were only 17 made. It's getting rarer by the day!
  14. I'd love to try out all of the trusted guys that frequent this forum, but obviously closer is better. I`ll investigate Envy, thanks chaps. BTW - do any forum members work there?
  15. Now that ESR have unhappily ceased trading, where do I take my Z for mods and servicing in the Newcastle area? I`ll need a P3 in a few months, my ancillary belt has some cracks in it and a new clutch can't be far off...
  16. Fuse number 6 had an invisible break. Thanks matey, you saved me from a mental meltdown Now my MP3 player plays perfectly thought the bose. Brilliant
  17. Success, sort of. Putting the block back together meant that some wires touched each other - it was unavoidable really. The result was a blown fuse which I located in a block by the battery and replaced. There is another fuse blown somewhere which controls the power to the radio and the power to the instrument panel and digital pod (or two fuses?). I have crawled all over the car with a torch but can't find them - only a fuse block near the drivers feet but they are all intact. I have seen a thread which talks of a fabled 3rd fuse, but where is it? Oh yes, and by the way, my tape button doesn't *click* like the CD and Radio buttons, is this normal or is it broken? It doesn't seem to be depressed any further than the other two?
  18. It's a helpful post, but I'm still not 100% confident. Fingers crossed!
  19. Thanks for the link :) Urm.. so it is an M40 connector, but is it the '350Z Wiring Harness Connector' that is the correct one? The other one (ISO connector) has different colours.
  20. That would be a life-saver! There is a long trip to the Lakes to visit the rellies tomorrow. I think it is the Audio Unit Connector, B53 according tot he manual. I daren't muck about with it as there is a live feed or two and if I get it wrong is is Bose toast time
  21. Need some help here guys... After an carefully engineered iRiver Xmas pressie I have used the holiday break to take out the console and add a MP3 cable to the Bose. I followed the excellent guide on my350z.com (shoudl be a sticky on here, maybe?) http://my350z.com/forum/4292171-post98.html I also do the trick with to prevent a tape needing to be inserted. http://my350z.com/forum/4764747-post103.html Everything went very well except the *BIG* problem! The main wiring plug (the largest of the three connectors) into the back of the Bose exploded apart on refitting. The Bose is a warranty replacement so I guess the monkey that fitted it broke the plug. Although I can put it back together again I don't know which wire goes in which hole! The colours of the wires is not clear in the guide and in any case seem to be different to mine. Has anyone got a good picture of the wires going into the back of a UK Bose (my Z is an 04 if it matters)? Failing that, can anyone tell me which colour wire goes in which hole in the plug!
  22. Yes, it does do that doesn't it. You need to keep out of cruising at the 2.5 tio 2.75K rev range - not always easy. Still, it's a good excuse to drop a cog and boot it a bit
  23. The 5zigen is definitely louder than the Nismo! Not a good choice if you want something quiet
  24. Um, apart from being shiny, what is it? Dur, the clue is in the thread title , although it looks like a real groin stabber of you put that in your pocket!
