  1. No, don't think so. It corresponds to road speed rather than engine RPM which is why I'm thinking its transmission related
  2. During cold weather I've noticed a whine on my 350z (51K) which I guess must be from either the gearbox or diff. It's worse directly after setting off, but gradually gets less noisy & clears completely after a few miles. If I let it idle & warm up for 5 or 10 mins before setting off, no whine. The colder the weather, the worse it is. All servicing carried out as per schedule by Nissan main dealer. Any ideas what it's likely to be and should I be getting it looked at??

    Interior valeting

Thanks for that, will give it a try......
  4. Does anyone know of products/techniques that will give a good result on the interior door trim panels of a zed?? I've tried autoglym rubber & vinyl cleaner (trigger bottle spray-on) on the panels, but with not much success. Have tried applying to the trim using a soft cloth, both direct & using the cloth to apply and have also tried using a soft brush, again applying directly and also on the brush itself, thinking this might give a better result on the bobbly plastic. Spent a bit of time on it, but neither method has worked very well, have got a very patchy finish. Ideally I'd like a low sheen finish. any ideas anyone???
  5. Check out this old tat spotted on Ebay, on the following link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... SS:GB:1123 I like the bit in the sales guff about 'adding that extra sporty look' (!!!). Pure class. Don't all rush at once!!
  6. Nice one!! Was going to ask if anyone HAS got a gearbox that shifts smoothly & cleanly through every gear and in all temperatures! Sounds like its entirely down to the luck of the draw, some good un's & some not-so-good un's. Has anyone had a total gearbox failure by the way, under normal driving conditions??
  7. Thanx for all the help & suggestions!! Have found the best solution, as advised, is to shift from 1st to 3rd for the first few miles until the gearbox oil has warmed up a bit. Get some funny looks though, when you're taking it very steady & accelerating slower than a micra! Meantime, will keep an eye on it & if it worsens or its still a problem when the weather warms up I'll take it back to the dealers & get it sorted under warranty. Cheers, H
  8. An old chestnut, I know! I have a 53 plate 350 with 10,000 miles on the clock, which I've had for just over a month. With the recent cold weather I've noticed that it's much harder to engage 2nd gear & sometimes requires a double-clutch. It will also sometimes grind slightly. Its also noticable in 3rd, but to a much lesser extent. Once driven 10-20 miles and everythings warmed up it's not nearly as bad and is generally smooth & crunch-free. Does this sound like worn synchro's or is this to be expected at low temperatures, even with such a low milage? I can live with it, but if it's a serious problem then I need to get something done about it sooner rather than later. The car has never been raced and appears to have been well looked after by the previous owner and is currently covered by a Nissan warranty. Any help & advice will be very gratefully recieved!
