you need to come and visit and take me out so i can here your exhaust in the cabin. you might be able to persuade me yet. just out of interest, do you think if i got the K1 that H&S would be able to change the tips for me to inward rolled ones?
-
Your only saying that because I got one And you don't want us both to have the same... i like the noise of the K1, but i had an image of what i was looking for and H&S will hopefully fulfill that.

just to let people know took it down to my very good Touring car bodyshop and they said fixing it was no problem. should be ready for thursday 02 april. it won't be primed but will be ready for painting. i won't get it primed as i'm sure people would prefer there bodyshop to do all the work. if you don't have a good bodyshop near you i can get my place to do it for you. they are very good and won bodyshop of the year 2008. let me know if you want me to get you a quote and i can get it for you. if you wanted painted and you get to me i'll even fit it for you free of charge, or you can collect in person and take it home and fit it yourself. the item should be as good as new by thursday and a bargain for some one usual price for this item is around £270. PM me with an offer if your interested

cheers guys, i really liked there sytem on my last car, so i think i might keep the loyalty. i would get a K1 but i don't like the rear cans, not a fan of slash cut jap style exhausts. prefer a bit of jag esque refinement.

if you want to increase the shine you need to start with an abrasive wet and dry paper, and slowly work down through the grades. each one will leave smaller and smaller scratches to the point that you can actually polish it up.

I thought brillo pads were made of steel wool? i don't think it is, for some strnage reason i think its an aluminium wool. but i'm not sure. i just got told by my dad who trained as an aerospace engineer with the fleet air arms. and there training was never to use steel brushes on aluminium and to use brilo pads. it has a special term as the steel reacts with the aluminium and the oxygen and i think the reaction creates a new chemical that then eats through the aluminium. to be honest if your then rubbing the ally down with loads of grades of wet and dry and then autosol i'm guessing any steel residue would be almost non existant. you should be fine.

i have been in contact with hayward and scott after browsing there website i saw an exhaust i liked on one of there other cars; it was a jag V8 but the exhaust looked great and it was a true dual. they quoted me £650 fitted ex vat for a true dual system going from the cat's back. i also checked out the price for just a standard backbox with twin exit and oval inward rolled tips and that was £350 fitted ex vat. the downside is i'll have to leave the car with them for 4 days as they have no patterns for either system for the 350Z. the question is do you think the true dual is going to be insanly loud and which one do you think would sound better? iknow its a slightly odd question as they haven't been made. but people must have an idea of the difference a true dual makes over a custom back box. what do people think of the look of it?

i'd be careful using a steel wire wool on an aluminium plenum, i was always taught in engineering never to use steel on aluminium. as the steel can leave flecks in the aluminium which can cause corrosion. and that its better to use an extremely course brilo pad.

where abouts did you get them from, must admit, the standard horns are a bit meek. are the z sports ones like boat fog horns?
-
thats good to know must admit i didn't have to thrash it to keep up

It's a lot slower then a stock Evo, no where near the sheer acceleration. Trust me ive owned a few, but there diffrent horses for diffrent courses. Ones a GT Cruiser with a nice chasis imo and the other is a road going rally car. Evo's are faster but ive had more honest driving fun in a 350z on the wales run then i have had with any Evo. reminded me of my drive to work this morning. had an older scooby in front going on to the dual carriageway off the roundabout, he saw me behind him and gunned it down the fast lane, i think he was quite suprised to see me still in his rear view mirror. wasn't really a struggle to keep up. would never have over taken him, but he would never have gained anything on me. and i backed off somewhere around the speed limit and let him go as i won't risk my licence on the public road. but was quite happy with the zeds performance.

cheers guys, i may just pull the fuse for now, as i never use the horn

i have a 42" sony bravia, and its excellent, bought it a couple of years ago, it ws the left over of the previous years stock so got a good bargain, think it set me back £725 and that was 2 years ago. watching movies is great excellent colour quality. when we were in the show room they had loads playinng and must admit the bravia had the best pic and price.

its happened twice now, but i leave work in the evening and as i drive away the horn keeps blipping, normally as i go over a bump or slow down, but this time it was worse i had to stop the car as the horn went off continuosly, very embarrising as i was leaving from parents evening, it settled down, but i had to turn on and off the engine, and even with the ignition off it was still going. i tried hitting the horn push on the steering wheel and nothing would stop it. the vibrations of starting seemed to have an impact and it stopped. the only mods i've done recently is the grounding kit and the K&N induction kit. my guess is it might be the induction kit where the cold intake from the bumper is might be hitting the horn. so has anyone else ever had this problem? where is the horn? is it near where the K&N gets its air? could it be someting else? if i can't find the proble, would the car still pass its MOT if i disconnected the horn?

have one fitted, mine was going cheap on the forum bought it in a moment of excitment at it being a deal without realluyu knowing exactly what it was but after fitting mine i have noticed that it idles better and my radio reception is better in known dead spots on the route to my parents in laws. for the money you can't really go wrong with it.

And on the radio yesterday Sir Alan was going on about how they have raised the bar with these contestants, also one guy on the show was going on about how marvellous he was and how he always made his voice heard etc etc and he was a science teacher... nothing against teachers but it just shows the amount of BS some people can talk, I want some of them to write my CV! admittedly the science teacher does come across as a complete egotistical tit. but i would say as a teacher there are some transferable skills in to business, like the ability to motivate and get peoplewho don't want to be there to work, you project manage between 20-30 people at a time and work with at least 10 different teams all on different porjects at the same time. you have to problem solve on the spot, have several tasks on at the same time, inspire people to think, meet deadlines, hit targets for acheivements etc. teaching is no walk in the park, when i did my training i was working a 60 -70 hour week with all hte work i had to do and all for £14,000 a year. as a profession its got the highest amount of people who leave early due to ill health and stress, up to 40% leave within there first 4 years in the job, and apparently teachers are the lartgest professional users of dating websites. .... even still that science teacher is a right tit

i'm a teacher, i'm not saying i'm a valid candidate, but i probably have more business sense than they do, my degree in engineer design had modules over 4 years that covered project management, competitive manufacturing, TQM amongst other things. i was the only person on my course and i'm fairly certain in my year, that actually sold there disitation, i'm one of the youngest teachers in the school and i drive if i don't mind saying so myself the nicest car in the car park... don't worry i wasn't offended i work with teachers and there can be a few doughnuts who work in schools and the majority wouldn't be suitable sugar material but i understand what you mean, the caliber of contestants is pityful. i wouldn't even employ some of them to teach my kids, let alone run a company. the only thing most of them have is over sized ego's and the ability to view themselves as better than they actually are. what makes me laugh is when most of them give there current job titles i wouldn't have a clue what they actually do, fancy titles for f all work. not in the show but an example: regional distribution manager for paper colation devices (stationary manager in charge of paper clips) which brings me to another rant. i can't stand people who have titles they haven't earnt or to glorify a mundane job. my main gripe is refuse engineers since when is a dustman a f**king engineer, i studied for 4 years for the privelege of being referred to as an engineer. there a sodding dustman i'm sorry rant over

+1, and the bitching of who is going has begun, great program, shocking, i wouldnt even let them do my zed for free at my last school students used to raise money for chairty events by offering to clean cars. i did it once, with my old civic and they just spred the dirt around. second time it came round i actually paid them not to clean it. now i have the zed they definatly aren't coming near it.

tell me about it, that ferrari is going to have a lovely swirl finish. and those muppets quoted the 3 hummers at £350 for 3 cars, i could understand if they were professional detailers but not a chance. i can't believe they never costed up and researched there service before blurting out a BS quote. this programme is great, it makes me rant something cronic though, am watching it with my wife and she's told me to shut up, so i'll rant on here instead

for me the noise is all fairly similar, have run both the jwt and the k&n and there is a slight pitch difference, but you really have to listen to notice. to be honest, if you just want noise then the JWT is a good bet at £110, if you want something fancy in your engine bay to show off like a polished pipe, then K&N, AEM, or numorous others will be just as good. there are loads of filters from apexi to hks. just depends on what you want, all do the same (bugger all) but make a nice noise.
