  1. i'm guessing he'd have to be cheaper than £650 as thats the cost of the cheapest piggy back ECU i've come across so far. but thats before tuning time on a rolling road. a reflash should be a prepared map which requires no tuning and allows the car to learn from its mods. i'm guessing it would have to lock the air fuel ratios to a point to stop the cancelling out. so that it would make use of the mods. most peoples reasons that i've heard on the forum so far is the cost of the equipment and software thats initially needed to do it. The yanks have been doing it for ages. so it must be possible and there can't be that much difference between uk and US ECUs
  2. photobucket will help with the pic uploading. as for thirst i don't think she's that bad. on long drives can average 32 mpg. round town i normally get 22 mpg, day to day 24 mpg and hooning 16 mpg.
  3. yep just round the corner from tesco's. they are going to help me with the nismo kit
  4. fixed it sorry about the spelling
  5. This has been an awesome find, i was looking for a bodyshop to spray up my nismo body kit and i popped into ipsiwich accident and repair. mentioned body kit and the bloke in reception said "you'll need to speak to the blokes in the office next door; go on through". i happended to walk into the offices of team AFM racing who happen to be a BTCC team who built and anre racing one of the first diesel touring cars in this years british touring car championship. had a really good chat with them there a great bunch, was chatting with there driver and head mechanic, and they really know there stuff. not only are they linked to ipswich accident and repair (voted best body shop in 2008) but they also offer a whole load of other services. They will do pretty much anything you want. including: Custom body kit fabrication body repairs spray painting full race car setup servicing and mot fit any mods and body kits order any performance parts you want have a rollong road to tune cars will fit and tune turbos and super chargers. you name it they'll do it. they happen to be the guys who are fixing the greddy front lip i have, when iwas speaking to them i explained i didn't know they existed tried google searches and everything to find a specialist garage to work on my car. they kind laughed and explained that there rubbish at advertising properly. but they did give me there web address. http://www.teamafmracing.com its not the easiest website to access it won't load on my home computer, and i can only access it through an old version of explorer, won;t seem to load on firefox or safari or opera, so i might need to update my software, but they are worth checking out. i'm not trying to take business away from people like dixcel or CS, but they may offer some services closer to home for people in the suffolk area.
  6. would go nicely with the Greddy front lip i have, then someone only needs to source some side skirts and they have a full kit
  7. to be honest i have faith in the abilites of the mods, if they've done something its in the benefits of the forum and the people involved. if we're meant to know i'm sure we'll be told in due time. ... i too am a nosey person ... spill the beans
  8. you need to come and visit and take me out so i can here your exhaust in the cabin. you might be able to persuade me yet. just out of interest, do you think if i got the K1 that H&S would be able to change the tips for me to inward rolled ones?
  9. Your only saying that because I got one And you don't want us both to have the same... i like the noise of the K1, but i had an image of what i was looking for and H&S will hopefully fulfill that.
  10. just to let people know took it down to my very good Touring car bodyshop and they said fixing it was no problem. should be ready for thursday 02 april. it won't be primed but will be ready for painting. i won't get it primed as i'm sure people would prefer there bodyshop to do all the work. if you don't have a good bodyshop near you i can get my place to do it for you. they are very good and won bodyshop of the year 2008. let me know if you want me to get you a quote and i can get it for you. if you wanted painted and you get to me i'll even fit it for you free of charge, or you can collect in person and take it home and fit it yourself. the item should be as good as new by thursday and a bargain for some one usual price for this item is around £270. PM me with an offer if your interested
  11. cheers guys, i really liked there sytem on my last car, so i think i might keep the loyalty. i would get a K1 but i don't like the rear cans, not a fan of slash cut jap style exhausts. prefer a bit of jag esque refinement.
  12. if you want to increase the shine you need to start with an abrasive wet and dry paper, and slowly work down through the grades. each one will leave smaller and smaller scratches to the point that you can actually polish it up.
  13. I thought brillo pads were made of steel wool? i don't think it is, for some strnage reason i think its an aluminium wool. but i'm not sure. i just got told by my dad who trained as an aerospace engineer with the fleet air arms. and there training was never to use steel brushes on aluminium and to use brilo pads. it has a special term as the steel reacts with the aluminium and the oxygen and i think the reaction creates a new chemical that then eats through the aluminium. to be honest if your then rubbing the ally down with loads of grades of wet and dry and then autosol i'm guessing any steel residue would be almost non existant. you should be fine.
  14. i have been in contact with hayward and scott after browsing there website i saw an exhaust i liked on one of there other cars; it was a jag V8 but the exhaust looked great and it was a true dual. they quoted me £650 fitted ex vat for a true dual system going from the cat's back. i also checked out the price for just a standard backbox with twin exit and oval inward rolled tips and that was £350 fitted ex vat. the downside is i'll have to leave the car with them for 4 days as they have no patterns for either system for the 350Z. the question is do you think the true dual is going to be insanly loud and which one do you think would sound better? iknow its a slightly odd question as they haven't been made. but people must have an idea of the difference a true dual makes over a custom back box. what do people think of the look of it?
  15. i'd be careful using a steel wire wool on an aluminium plenum, i was always taught in engineering never to use steel on aluminium. as the steel can leave flecks in the aluminium which can cause corrosion. and that its better to use an extremely course brilo pad.
  16. where abouts did you get them from, must admit, the standard horns are a bit meek. are the z sports ones like boat fog horns?
  17. thats good to know must admit i didn't have to thrash it to keep up
  18. It's a lot slower then a stock Evo, no where near the sheer acceleration. Trust me ive owned a few, but there diffrent horses for diffrent courses. Ones a GT Cruiser with a nice chasis imo and the other is a road going rally car. Evo's are faster but ive had more honest driving fun in a 350z on the wales run then i have had with any Evo. reminded me of my drive to work this morning. had an older scooby in front going on to the dual carriageway off the roundabout, he saw me behind him and gunned it down the fast lane, i think he was quite suprised to see me still in his rear view mirror. wasn't really a struggle to keep up. would never have over taken him, but he would never have gained anything on me. and i backed off somewhere around the speed limit and let him go as i won't risk my licence on the public road. but was quite happy with the zeds performance.
  19. cheers guys, i may just pull the fuse for now, as i never use the horn
  20. i have a 42" sony bravia, and its excellent, bought it a couple of years ago, it ws the left over of the previous years stock so got a good bargain, think it set me back £725 and that was 2 years ago. watching movies is great excellent colour quality. when we were in the show room they had loads playinng and must admit the bravia had the best pic and price.
  21. just at in appropriate times
  22. its happened twice now, but i leave work in the evening and as i drive away the horn keeps blipping, normally as i go over a bump or slow down, but this time it was worse i had to stop the car as the horn went off continuosly, very embarrising as i was leaving from parents evening, it settled down, but i had to turn on and off the engine, and even with the ignition off it was still going. i tried hitting the horn push on the steering wheel and nothing would stop it. the vibrations of starting seemed to have an impact and it stopped. the only mods i've done recently is the grounding kit and the K&N induction kit. my guess is it might be the induction kit where the cold intake from the bumper is might be hitting the horn. so has anyone else ever had this problem? where is the horn? is it near where the K&N gets its air? could it be someting else? if i can't find the proble, would the car still pass its MOT if i disconnected the horn?
  23. looks good, if you'd sanded the lettering off i could have given you a new set in vinyl i like the colour.
  24. have one fitted, mine was going cheap on the forum bought it in a moment of excitment at it being a deal without realluyu knowing exactly what it was but after fitting mine i have noticed that it idles better and my radio reception is better in known dead spots on the route to my parents in laws. for the money you can't really go wrong with it.
  25. look forward to this, was a big fan of the dwarf, even the later episodes, but glad to see rimmer back, may favourite is kryton
