sand it all smooth with a 1500 grade wet and dry, wipe down the surface with a degreaseing agent like meths or white spirits. leave to dry thoughouly. then when spraying use a plastic primer, hold the can about 30 cm away from the unit, start moving and spraying just off from the item and move across slowly left to right. stopping spraying as you are off the other side of the item and on the paper. this stops dribbles from the nozzle landing on the paint. move down a bit and continue again with the same process. slowly working down the item still working left to right etc. once first coat is on, it might not have full coverage of the item and could be patchy don't worry as you'll get it second time round. leave to dry for 1 hour then rub down gently with a 2500 grade wet and dry, and then repeat as above. you can easily put on 3 or 4 coats of primer. if they are nice and light they will dry quickly and be easy to sand between coats. and should leave a glass like finish if you use the wet and dry right. i would then leave over night to fully harden before starting on the colour. and as before repeat as above with the colour. and then leave to harden over night. sand between each coat and you should still have a good glassy finish. laquer is slightly harder, the process is roughly the same, but you need to move the can at just the right speed. to slow and you will get runs as it builds up to quickly. to fast and not enough will go down and it will leave an orange peel effect. then i'd leave it a week to harden fully, preferably after 2 days stick it in your airing cupboard to harden. as said before, slow and steady is the key, if you rush it it will look rubbish hope that helps.

new zed owner soon.. roadster or coupe?
rtbiscuit replied to faz10's topic in Introductions & Welcome Messages
i've had roadsters before and love them, best advantage of the roadster version is that with the roof down the car sounds awesome to drive, much better than the coupe. i have the coupe partly because my wife wasn't keen on passengering with the roof down, and there are still days when the suns out where i wish i could drop the top. both are good cars, it just comes down to personal preference and taste. each to their own etc. i think that it looks a little like a butch version of the ford KA in roadster version, a spoiler might help but i like it coupe style. -
more pictures please, i might be interested

Ok people got this back on friday from the body shop and they have done an excellent job, they said the fix is now stronger than the original bumper and there should be no issues with breaking. they did a 2 part plastic weld to join the 2 parts and then bonded and sealed the rear. the unit has retained its flexibility as i have been able to twist and bend it with easy. have put it on my car to give people an idea of looks, but the painted version would be better guide above. the marks you see on it are remants of parcel tape and glue which both come off really easy. you can see the repair and where its be sanded down. the bumper will need the usual sand and prep doing to it to smooth it out ready for painting, which any good bodyshop should do. this item is as good as new, and if any one wants piece of mind i will make sure the reciept for the repair from the bodyshop goes with it. but that should be an issue as it is an extremely good shop with an excellent reputation.

Sure thing, but why you not taking yours? I have to warn you in advance tho, I'll prolly leave off at about 5pm, to hopefully avoid most commuter traffic on the M25. Oh and bring earplugs, in case the K1 makes too much noise on a long drive, hehe. it was more to get an idea of what the k1 is like to live with it keeps tempting me its the price dammit, just a friggin steal

welcome to suffolk mate, just noticed this thread as well, as bullet said, i have found a good bodyshop in ipswich, they are doing some stuff for me at the moment and i think they are very good. well priced and good work. as for meets, bullet and i get together occasionally...well twice...and it was at my house... and we didn't go anywhere but there are also members up in cambridge, so we might have to get together sometime. i konw a few of us are hoping to go down to brands hatch this month if the big meet down there is still on. we're guessing around the 9th

i think air brushing is a bit like tatooing, only go for something you really like cos wants its done its expensive to remove. personally i'd keep the air brushing to small parts, i'd get the rear strut cover done the engine cover, the brake fluid and battery covers, and have them as little pieces of art. and because its such small sections you should be able to go quite wild with what goes on there.

"i'm sorry michael but that jump is impossible and if i ever find the person who fitted the zoomy red lights in my mouth i'm gunna kill them!!!!" eek i can't believe someone would do that, leave it in the 80's

Run that past me again i thought a reflash on an ecu was wiping the old map and installing a new one. my guess was that if a reflash allowed your mods to be taken into account then it must have an affect on the air and fuel ratios. currently if you add a breathing mod the ecu reduces the amount of throttle needed (does it not also change the air fule mix) maybe i just answered my own question. the reflash must do something to stop the throttle being reduced? does it?

if your repainting the engine cover, if you sand off the lettering so its flush i can supply you with new decals to replace them so you don't have to try and mask them off. ican do them in silver, or in chrome or brushed aluminium i'm doing mine in red. but the white works well not seen it done before

new twist to the story, i still haven't got round to checking all the connections but found out on a drive home the other afternoon that the problem only arises once i have turned my light s on fully. had been driving around all day no probs, then starts to get dark lights on and with in 1 minute the horn is going off over bumps. turn lights off and it stops. sounds electrical to me, so hopefully with 2 weeks off as of next week i shall get some jobs done

Mine was registered 1st August 2007 and has done 12,500 miles. Currently fitted with RE040s all round with 34psi. Have tried reducing to 32psi all round but not noticed much difference. It is only lively when the road is bumpy, quite common in Gloucestershire, but on smooth roads it is fine, so I assumed that alignment was therefore OK. Thanks for help from you all. Mike i wouldn't reduce, i'd pump them up, should be 35 psi all round. does help. ican tell when mine are dropping by just 1 or 2 psi as it handles differently. also if there is no heat in the tyres then the stones are slippery. another tyre worth looking at is the vredestein ssantas, very good UHP tyre
