  1. vinyl will withstand the heat, the decals i've done for brake calipers hold up fine to the heat. the issue you might have is if the heat soften the vinyl and makes it move/lift reshape etc. decals are fine as they are flat, but your going to be stretching it to fit.
  2. This parrot says it all really about this product
  3. You recruiting for a Jag forum somewhere? That is a heck of alot of car for the money. not recruiting, they are very different to the zed, my friends refer to it as my luxo barge but when you put the hammer down its like holding on for dear life as it charges to hell its addictive. the autobox makes long drives a breeze, but being an auto track work lacks, steering is also very light. i think the point i was trying to make is you'd be suprised what you can get for your money.
  4. £7k could get him this http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p 20" BBS split rims V8 Super charger 360 bhp weighs a little more than the zed 4 seats not saying its everyones taste, and i'm sure they'll be the old man and wippet jokes in a minute, but the point is you'd be suprised what you can get for your money
  5. I know teaching isn't being a police officer, but i do see alot of similarities between our jobs. we have to tell people off and enforce rules etc. the one advantage the cops have is they can beat you and spray you with pepper spray i on the other hand can do sweat FA. we got alot of training on behaviour management etc when we started which might not be too disimiliar to coppers. these are the kind of things i always use/have at the back of my head, and alot is often passed down from teacher to teacher. "i'm not he to be liked, i'm here to do a job" "i'm not here to be your mate, I'm your teacher" always say thank you, never say please. (please can sound like begging, thank you means that your expections are that they'll do it.) this is an old one and i'm not sure i fully agree with or use it "don't smile till christmas" basically be really strict, and by xmas they get the idea, you can then back off a little. (like dan said if you go in all nicey nicey, its very hard to ramp it up, but if you are strict, its easy to tone down for situations that require more emotion etc) for alot of minor issues i'll generally go for the telling off method but leave it at that, but if a students gets the hump about it and kicks off with me i start to scale up the consequences the more they go on. basically if they shut up and take their ticking off, i;ll drop it, if they are apologetic i'll drop it even quicker. be an arse about it and i'll amke their life hell and i'm pretty sure alot of police probably think the same way. feel free police people to correct me if i'm wrong
  6. its had many names under different governments originally it was Wood work, metal work etc then CDT (craft Design Technology) Design & Technology my subject is reffered to as Resistant materials but D&T is the broad spectrum covering RM, Graphics, Electronics, Systems and control, Food, Catering, Textiles etc
  7. This may seem an odd place to mention such a topic, but i thought it might interest people, one of the big drives at the moment is to increase the UK's engineering and practical skills workforce. but at the same time Design and Technology is being threatened with removal from the National curriculum down to the basic curriculum. This would mean that the subject would no longer be compulsory which could lead to schools dropping it as its expensive to run. This is the general view of why it shouldn't be removed http://www.data.org.uk/generaldocs/dt_response_expert_panel.pdf and if you would like to support the protection of the subject or voice your opinion http://www.believeindandt.org.uk/ also writing to your local MP would be beneficial as well. some may not see this as important but anyone who comes from an engineering backgroud should hopefully see the potential damage this could cause. feel free to discuss this as well, as i;d be interested in peoples opinions
  8. alot of people end up dating in professions, teachers are terrible for it as we never get out so its often other teachers we end up dating. My wife is a teacher. and like police officers i know of teachers in different schools i've worked in who like coppers are riding each other like blackpool donkeys (i love that phrase) I don't know the glasgow police force so can't comment, but 20 officers i've had dealings with over the last 15 years and the ones who i have as mates are all pretty normal. i wonder if glasgow has got a lot of unbiased cops round there? i do think though that it takes very few police officers to taint the reputation of the majority.

  10. i prefer 19's on a zed, but just not those ones, nowt wrong with them, but think the rays you have do the car more justice. if you were buying new wheels then i'd say go for 19's
  11. forgot to add, with regards to the OP he could try CAB (Citizens advise Bureau) they would be able to offer free legal advise on the situation
  12. Just watched the vid, now without seeing the situation its difficult to comment on what actually happened and the video, the drivers response and the coppers response could all be taken out of context. i wouldn't say the copper was particularly rude alright a bit short with the responses but personally i didn't find myself warming to the driver. it did feel like he had a bee in his bonnet with regards to the police, like this wasn't the first time, as its not most peoples first instinct to video the conversation. he may well have been correct, but it does make me wonder if he'd had a bit more manners he might have got on with/dealt with better the police man? this might be my naiveté towards the police as all the run ins I've ever had with them have been pretty straight forward, if you play nice they play nice. but i could just have been lucky i suppose. for me though if a student had been like that towards me if i was addressing a situation, they wouldn't be endearing themselves to me put it that way.
  13. am intrigued, always loved your wheels, what are they? also might be worth mentioning the ride on 20" will be a lot harder, stew will be able to tell you from experience what his ride is like. mine is not uncomfortable, but my suspension and ride comfort is softer than the zed as standard. the zed is a firm ride on stock springs.
  14. pick your wheels first, no point worry about tyres yet until you know what they're going on. I'd be more worried about getting the right offset, you don't want to have to stack wheels out on spacers to fill the arches and you don't want them sticking out miles madmax style. if i remember rightly you want wheels with offsets in the low 20's for offset. they also need to be able to clear your calipers. once you have picked your wheels just use a tyre calculator to work out the right tyre to fit with the rolling radius. i kind of feel your making more of an issue of picking tyres when its actually fairly straight forward and your not focusing on the slightly harder job of actually getting a wheel to fit. also with 20's the wheel is going to be a lot heavier i would actually say you don't want to buy cheap wheels as they are going to weigh a ton and that you actually want to buy decent wheels to keep the weight down. i think the ones stew has are axis pentas and they are lovely wheels. B2 autodesign does axis wheels as well as others, and they'll know what fits the zed.
  15. don't ask me why, but it reminds me of the xmen? like seats you'd find in their plane? they look well made
  16. My Jag run's 20" BBS split rims, before you think about tyres you need to know your wheel widths mine are 9" front and 10" rear, so i run 285 30 20 on the rear and 255 35 20 on the front. but you won't know if thats right with you as the zeds rolling radius is possibly different from the jag. and as for if they look too big then they are right isn't always the best rule of thumb. i saw 20" on an MR2 and it looked like a rollerskate. think you might be alright on the zed though
  17. but i do like the concept of no more door dings
  18. i use paisley freight for most of my courier needs
  19. i wouldn't worry, for once this is a tyre question thats not really come up before. so i haven't minded helping
  20. this any good? http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to- ... 22208.html
  21. i think it should be now that we point out how expensive it is to manufacture in ABS, the machine i had at my old place took ABS cartridges, they were very expensive, we had a student mock up a kids toy train at 1 foot long and 7" high it cost about £60 in materials. these new powder based resin printers are cheaper to maintain but costs are still high.
  22. yes they actually exist we have something smiliar to this just on a smaller scale http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=OiN8wNyLdTI#! it uses an ABS wire fed into basically a heat gun that melts the ABS and distributes it in layers and builds it up. its like reverse of CNC milling
  23. these have been around for a while, been using different versions of those for the last 5 years. i currnetly have a 3D ABS printer that extrudes layers of ABS and builds up the model in the same method. we use it for prototyping. the powder ones are kind of the latest versions. the one at my current school we actually bought as a kit and built the machine ourself from scratch.
