  1. Well touch wood it's fixed. Took the Cold Air Filter box off and the light now works OK without blowing fuses. The box was bolted through to earth on the inner wing, the other side on a bolt on the front of the engine. It was obviously acting as an earth for the engine perhaps a not very good one. My theory is that on revving the engine, the block rocks with torque and the cold air box mounting screw on the engine moves within the boxe's bracket hole creating some sort of electrical interference. Sounds far fetched to me but I can't think of any other explanation. If the fuse lasts I may be writing to K&N and reporting this problem. In our attempts to fix this, we bought a new Ballast/igniter unit so now have one spare if anyone want to contact me by p.m. Cheers Paul
  2. Hi All, Got a strange problem with the LH side dipped beam on my son's 350. Car is UK spec with Xenon. a. 15 amp fuse for the LH dipped beam blew, replaced it and it blew again. b. Removed bulb and tested it in the RH unit and it worked so not the bulb. c. Next most likely problem was ballast/ignition module. Replaced this tonight with a 'new' one bought from HIDS Direct and tested the light. It was fine without the engine running, started the engine and at tickover the dipped beam was OK. Blipped the throttle and the fuse blew. d. Checked Voltmeter and it is steady at 14V all revs. Not sure that it has anything to do with anything but we installed a K&N Tornado cold air system. After a few weeks we could smell burning and saw that the Carbon Fibre Lid of the Cold Air box was burning at the mounting screw points, it was about this time that the first headlamp fuse blew. We insulated the mounting screws and lips of the box but the same thing happened and shortly after the second headlamp fuse blew. Checked the Cold air box mounting and no trapped wires and the earth is good on the box. Lid has been removed and the car run for a few months with all ok. The fuse blew again a couple of days ago and now will not work when you rev the engine. I know there's a relay involved somewhere, we can hear that clicking when the lights are switched on......... What the H*ll do I do next?
  3. Hi all, What yah got that would make interesting metaphorical 'My Other Car is.......' Bumper Stickers on the back of your 350Z. I'll start with the following: My Other Car's ...... a '43 Willys (Ford) Jeep: How not to Park a Jeep - doesn't look like you'de need to but it was necessary to cut two trees down to extricate it! Son (Tim) and his mates. On the set Omaha Beach June 6th 2004 Speed Trap Can you spot it Ooooooops 2003 1943 Automotive Engineering - 60 BHP Weather Proof? Cheers For Now Paul
  4. Please don't ban me, I promise to post more photo's of the Green Machine Now if I can just find this 'other cars' thread I'll happily oblige. Point me in the right direction please. p.s. Always makes me laugh when I take the Jeep round for it's MOT, they more or less count the wheels, check the steering and do a brake test for the first 10 minutes of the mandatory 40 mins the DVLA say they must spend testing each vehicle. The remaining 30 mins are normally spent taking turns at photographing themselves playing with the .50 Cal on the back...... Cheers Paul and Tim

Me too, Wife's MR2, Daughters Civic Type R, Son's 350 Z, My own Vauxhall and my 1943 Willys Jeep is the willys jeep still in it's wartime colours if so BTW Dooooh, course it's in Olive Drab, what self respecting '43 Willys would be seen in any other colour. 9. Hi to all. My son has an '04 plate 350z and seeing as I seem to end up doing quite a lot of the maintenance/servicing on the car, I now consider myself as a part owner Great car, typical solid Japanese engineering and great fun to drive. Anyway, from time to time, I’d like to tap in on the collective expertise that contributors bring to this forum. Cheers, Paul and son Tim.
