  1. Well, i'm sure I speak for everyone when I say what a great day and a big thank you to Colin and the team. 2 pictures below from the end of the day of the cars and our group. Well done to mouthwash for winning driver of the day and getting to like his R32 a little more. Somehow I managed to win the gymkhana shootout although I may have lost a few thousand miles off my rear tyres
  2. Nice idea Mik. Should hopefully spot you around soon. I saw a silver 05 the other day very close to me as well. To the moderators: could the members profiles be tweaked so we can add in Car details, just something simple like for mine: 350HR Black 08 It would help the spotted section as well if members could click on the map and see who was close and what car it was.

    To those with Cobras

Just from the usual e of bay. Search for suprapro clamp and its the pack of 4 at 63-68mm

When i said gone, i meant i had already removed it, its on a shelf. Just contemplating stripping out the interior plastics/carpet etc but then you go from OEM+ look to stripped out racecar look. Not sure i am ready for that yet but would like to know the rough weight saving you would see.

Yeah, the boot weight had already gone, the spare wheel you can see in the corner of the garage, thats gone. People say dont lose weight from rear end as its needed for traction but i have a mechanical LSD and wide tyres so never had an issue.
  6. Quick little mod done today if you can call it that. As there are many of us with cobra exhausts this may be a common problem. Last time i had a nosey around underneath i noticed the exhaust clamps that secure the tips to the tubing and tubing to the backbox were rusting. I took them off and found the threads were almost rusted solid, the brackets had started to corrode/stain the St./steel exhaust and they looked a mess, all this after just a year on the car. The solution, suprapro st/steel exhaust clamps. You can get them in W2 or W4 grade, the W4 grade are better and cost around £5 each. Its a quick 5 minute job to change them and you can polish the staining off while your under there. I am assuming everyone with a cobra should be same size diameter so I got the 63-68mm option which is the perfect size and fit. See pics below, they look much neater, blend in great with exhaust and you will save a kg or so in weight. Just to note: i have no affiliation with the product, other similar products are available but I think for £20 its a no brainer.

Done. Looks much slicker and only a 5 minute job to put back anyway if needed. Plus its another kilo or 2 off the hips.
  8. Me too, heading down from Pontefract tomorrow evening. Stopping at masden mortaine so i can be nice and fresh for the day.
  9. So putting the mamma jokes aside, am i right in summing this up for the layman as "interstellar wifi?"
  10. The tyre situation will definitely be a factor as one manufacturers 245x40 will be a slightly different width/height/circumference to anothers. Couple that with the difference between "new" tyres and "bald" tyres and you could have say 4mm top and bottom manufactor variance, 5mm top and bottom wear variance multiply by pie to get circumference and you have 56mm of difference for a single wheel rotation, i'm sure thats more than enough to mess with TCS.

Yep, would be amusing to turn the jet 90deg and point it sideways and outwards towards the kerbs. Or point it up, link it to the trottle and do a jetski impression. Or maybe not...

Thinking about doing this myself. Do you need to pull a fuse at all. As in what happens when you try to use the wiper from the cabin after its removed? Also not looked but is the rear washer jet on same system or is that completely independent?
  13. I have the RC6. Fine from cold, still better than most other pads and as said they get even better with heat. Only downside is the squeel so either you slam on a few times to get them warm or put up with it. As i understand it the RC5+ are great for lighter cars, the RC6 for heavier cars and the RC6E are somewhere in the middle performance wise but last much longer than either and aimed at endurance racing. I think they do an 8 compound as well but suppose that will be track only and not suitable for road use.
  14. I dread to think what products some of these places use if they are happy to use a sponge. Even the local £5 hand car wash near me use "woolen" mitts although i still only take the daily there. Just a thought occurred to me. How in the technicolor world we live in have sponges remained yellow?
  15. Seems about right to me on the face of it. You would prob get 5.5 to 6k private sale but a dealer is never gonna give you that as we know.

    EML light

Well i went for a drive out today, around 50 miles and no EML light so cleaning the throttle sensors may have done the trick. Thanks 88zed. Another save from the forum.
  17. What kyle said. Don't underestimate the road camber. If you have only been on b roads the zed being relatively heavy with wide tyres will always pull to the left. Get on a flat piece of tarmac, even motorways can have camber and test then. Or better still find a quiet road and drive down the wrong side, (rhs) if it pulls to right your ok, if it goes straight or still pulls left you have an issue
  18. Mine are eibach and no the camber arms dont adjust the toe (well they may as everything is connected but it would be uncontrolable) the adj toe bolts in the kits are needed to get back to factory specs when lowered.
  19. I have had this done. Adjustable camber arms are a doddle. They just replace the standard arm but have an adjustable thread and nuts to lengthen/shorten the arm to increase or decrease the camber. The adjustable toe bolts replace the standard toe bolts but the hole they fit into needs ro be elongated to allow the extra adjustment of the new bolts. This requires shaving/grinding/filing the alloy in an area with not great accesabillity. It can be done at home but allow more time than you think. I had them fitted at same place that did the slignment/geo setup for obvious reasons and the guy used his air tool (dremel type machine) and went through about 6/7 bits making the holes bigger and took him about an hour just for that. For reference i got the eibach set as all my other suspension stuff is eibach, cost is in region of £150-£200 for the camber arms and toe bolts. You can see in pic below. The camber arms are centre right (black) and the toe bolts top left (shiny)
  20. Yep, same here, would love a proper garage, But tell me keyser, has the biggest spanner ever been used?
  21. Probably because back in the day they did a similar job and needed to buy the same tool. Then its been sat there for 20 years rusting away until their son gives them a call one day and pops over to rumage through tbe box/chest and hey presto, it gets a second use and sees the light of day for a second brief time before returning back to the dark oblivion of rusty things always willing and waiting patiently for the call to arms.

    EML light

Thats what i need, will get one ordered. Thanks for that. Do you know if they work on most cars ie universal or do you need a specific type per make/country/age of car I have an oldish BMW that has a load of lights on the dash. Cougar store read it as a faulty speed sensor on rear left wheel but now got a couple of more warning lights.
  23. Read my door handle thread. Took me a week to sort out, took me 2 weeks to fit an oil cooler, 3 weeks to sort faulty washer pumps, there are threads on those somewhere as well. Its all part of the fun (and frustration) I love learning to do mechanics myself but every time i start with zero preparation like an idiot. Back to yours above, is there no friends/family that have any tools? If i need anything i can usualy rely on my dad to have it in his antiques roadshow toolbox
