  1. Yup plenty of 'if onlys' here. Just got to take it on the chin as a lesson learnt in driving on oily tracks. So, back to the Land Rover until I find a suitable Z replacement.
  2. Yup all ok here, thanks for the messages. Car is completely fubar'd though And davey_83 you don't know what you're talking about in my instance - I'm not sure you are referring to me though admittedly. I had no-one around me, was just a horrific surface, and a lack of experience on my behalf and some bad luck. It was hard enough standing on that part of the circuit when we got out of the car. Ekona - was good to meet you, although I confess my mind was in another place and I don't really recall it. I do remember your wife offering me the hot drinks and that was very kind.
  3. I'd go along with scrapping the area sub forums. You usually have to scan through 2 or 3 to find out what might be of interest to you in your area
  4. Preaching to the converted here Flex, I just didn't go into the depths of detail. As you say, currently still a lot better the ICE, but give it a few years and it's less appealing (BIK), but getting FYA is still a big plus for some people
  5. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/107419-japfest-2016-south-east-convoy-m4a34-sunday-24th-april/ Can hopefully work out timings and see if you can meet us along the way
  6. I'd throw the mat away and replace it and then do what you can with the carpet underneath.
  7. 100% tax relief innit. Unlike a supercar which would take forever to get all the tax relief
  8. I imagine they'd look for some sort of proof of sale, then see it was £1 and see straight through it. Plus insurance companies wouldn't be too happy if he was driving as a named driver, but essentially being the only driver - somewhat against the insurance contract. Plus the whole thing is fraudulent
  9. Insurance co (very rough figures) New bumper: £500 New bonnet £500 plastics £400 odd clips etc: £100 2 new lights: £1000 labour: £1000 paint: £1000 undertray/arch liners: £500 total: ~£5k Dad's costs (again rough) bonnet, bumper, bits of plastic: £400 lights: £100 Weekend's work : £0 And a nice big cheque from the ins co. As docwra says, OEM parts are very dear and you're paying for someone to do the work too
  10. A new pipe makes no difference to what goes into it! (cats aside) I'd guess it's running rather lean.
  11. Dad's BMW - 2004 530d - was w/off following a slight bump. The bonnet was mildly bent, bumper cracked and one or two engine bay bits of plastic cracked. Was initially a Cat C, after a bit of persuasion managed to get it down to a D. Around £500 later the bonnet and the cracked plastic was replaced and back on the road. So I'd say it really depends on the car. Insurance cos will write off anything not worth their hassle - C is just generally that the work is more than the car's value, D is 'uneconomical'.
  12. I believe we are Rich, hence my comment was incorrect - oringally thought he had something aftermarket. Not familiar with the 370 setup (sounds like a pain) Russyb - my Pioneer is a year old and mine certainly doesn't have that 'feature' - just a simple cable to attach to the handbrake switch. Would be a bit stupid to make it require that cable to be earthed after switching on as generally the handbrake is on when parked!
  13. Nexus 7 from ebay? £50
  14. You don't always lose the lot. I'd guess you'll go down to 2 years
  15. Rather unlikely Although given that there are no photos, they may well have reversed it into a wall a few times to make sure that they get what they want
  16. She'll be trying it on as you're paying. Insurance co would send a chap out and tell her to get stuffed on the carpet.
  17. Take out the spare and leave it at home One there, then one in the boot. 3+4 in the passenger seat? Or one behind, one in front? Possibly one wedged on the centre bulkhead area - partly in the boot
