Le Mans 24 - Group Event 18-19th June 2016
GreenLandy replied to monkeybrain1234's topic in National Events & Shows
Honestly have no idea, other than fear of them falling apart on the way down. -
Test pipes are true decats - ie a tube with nothing in it. Will completely fail an MOT. HFCs should pass MOTs, but no guarantee. Regarding repair/replace - you can probably get the OEM bits second hand for under £100, or if you want a reasonable cat-back system you're looking at around £500 minimum, but this does vary hugely of course, depending on what you go for.

Enormous marquee and 2 catering tents eh.... And yes our mates are wimping out with their cars. Got to look after those 10 year old A3s and Golfs now haven't you (?!) -
Funnily enough, SGS.... They do an uprated one for the nismo spoiler too. Did mine last winter after my head had had enough

There is space for a baby seat in a Z. Just have to leave the other half behind! -

And pretty much every other main dealer. Trouble with the R8 is that they probably figure you don't know what you're on about, or care what it costs, so try and blag work out of you.

A new one is only £30 from Nissan. Ordered mine yesterday. Yes you can probably bodge it back together, but for £30 is it worth the hassle?

I still think the worst bit of Mercs these days is that stupid faux-tablet thing they have on the dash
-
There's a subwoofer behind the driver's seat? The nav stuff is originally in the locker behind the passenger seat. I ripped all of mine out as it was rubbish. Some people do a tablet install to replace the nav - something I'm looking into at the moment.

Do you not find it an issue that the OBD connector is permanently on? (ie no switch to turn it off)

Fair enough "dude". And you can always tell the unqualified/inexperienced ones from the very few who really know what they're doing, half my job is sorting out their mess. Plus your point is only really true from the industry side of things. A book keeper would rarely/never walk into practice straight away. But we digress. If Manners wants something that is a backup plan if everything hits the fan, then yes I guess book keeping could cover the bills and does allow for some tinkering. To be honest Manners, if you're really keen to be playing with numbers, maybe do a bit of a google on Sage and general basic book keeping. If you get competent you may find a small business whos books you could do a few evenings a month. Depends how much you want to spend your free time doing so.

I know a guy who never completed his AAT thats now taking £80K as a Management Accountant, Ive also trained myself and my staff to use Sage and they arent on a bad crack either. Not everyone wants to suffer 4 years of exams and reading boring ass tax legislation, it doesnt mean that they cant be accountants of some sort though. For balance I should also add that one of my best mates completed his ACCA and had his own practice by the time he was 26 and has been driving brand new M3's and Porsches while spending money like water ever since I wouldn't really count being able to use Sage as being an accountant though. Sure it's very useful, but not the sort of thing I would think that you would want to be stopping engineering for. And I'm sure your mate wasn't just doing odd bits of accounting in his spare time. And tbh, whilst 80k may seem like a lot, in the grand scheme of things, it's still fairly tame in the accounting world. All the lease/HP free BMWs and F type Jags in the car park tell me that!
-
ACCA and CIMA? Are you some sadistic, exam-loving being?
-
I'm ACCA qualified and qualified in Feb this year. If you're not going to do it properly, then why bother? ACCA is at least 3 years of commitment, not the odd evening here or there. You also need 3 years of experience to become qualified. A sage qualification isn't "proper" accountancy - that would be more of a book keeping role, although I personally wouldn't put much value on that qualification as again you won't have any experience. Not like it isn't something you can't pick up if things did turn bad tbh. Even if you went for more of a billy-basic qualification like AAT, you're still talking a few years to get through it, and again, anyone paying anything worth working for will want the experience to go with it.

Sounds like you may have shot yourself in the foot there!

That is beyond ridiculous. I'm sure he has made a f*ck up along the line somewhere, with planning permission, but should be a simple correction to sort it out? As Dan says, it's not like he's coming in hot off a national limit road. Although hasn't he heard of an angle grinder?
-
Sounds pretty awful and a pretty scary experience. Did you ring the police to report it? Would hope someone would to get the thing removed from the road
