Clocked you today in Cambridge down Hill Road, you let me in from a side road, I gave you the thumbs up from my grey/blue BMW. Zed looked good Stevo
-
Thankfully they have re-surfaced the roads in the area where I live as some of the pot holes were sink holes in my opinion, or something close to a meteor impact.
-
Happy b-day guys

it could be because one of the calliper's pistons may have been stuck or is sticking, which will result in unbalanced braking. Travelling at " not a recommended speed " will only amplify the effects and perhaps, give you the feeling of " tank slap " or snaking. But as jumping said, could be a number of related things.

If you replaced the main bearings, you should've got a new con rod/s at the same time. One of those bearings is going to wear out a lot quicker than the others. You'll end up forking out twice.
-
I imagine most people are going to say that it happened because you were driving at " not a recommended speed "

bloody hell. I feel for you codel, That's really unlucky, inconvenient but at least they're paying.

Merge in Turn - who was in the right?

If drivers used both lanes, it wouldn't be any quicker, still the same number of cars trying to get from A to B in the same place. I think it just boils down to common courtesy. if there is a long queue in single file I think it should be respected. If there isn't and both lanes are being used then go for broke. Of course, in this situation it is going to get someone's back up if you have been crawling for 20 minutes to get to the bottle neck and someone bombs down the inside to get in because they can't be bothered to wait patiently like everyone has, it just looks rude and inconsiderate. Having said that, it really wasn't a good idea for that Renault driver to bolt out and play silly buggers with the merc driver. -
Heard on the news this morning that Clarkson will be returning to BBC2 to do Top Gear. No ban

No, it doesn't really matter, English is full of French, German, Latin, Scandinavian, Indian and a smattering of Arabic words/names. Throwing a few Americanisms in the mix is hardly going to ruin the language but being British, it is a our god damn right to complain about it!
-
Jap-wise, i'd say definitely the GT-Four. I made a stonking profit on both ST185 and St205 models, they've appreciated recently. Probably the Nissan pulsar, especially the later models. I'd imagine the RX7 would be a future classic, any skyline (even the fugly R33 GTR). Toyota supra MK4, Mazda 323f GTR and perhaps the Glanza EP82 model.
-
"closure" another Americanism. Can't think of an equivalent/synonym for it. Anyone?
-
Clarkson is a ford junkie anyway, of course he'd be bias to the ford prostitute.
-
I've stated this before so forgive me for repeating myself but, "gotten" is not an Americanism. it's just the old form of "got".We (the Brits) have evolved since those days and have decided to drop the "ten" from got, the Americans have not as they speak a far older form than we do. It may also surprise you to know that the phrase "stiff upper lip" is not british but American. Who'd've thunk it eh? But I know what you mean twobears, I don't like Americanisms that bare no relation to our culture. Such as "ball park figure" what was wrong with the word "estimate"? "step up to the plate" what bloody plate? Apparently it comes from baseball... we don't play baseball.

Good to know you're o.k Chubster. That's one hell of a crash though. really hope it's plain sailing getting the beast back on the road.

" you say potato and I say patarto....."

I get your point. I just feel it's unnecessary to say spaghetti with an Italian accent or transferring the stress to a different syllable so it sounds like how a non-native might say it. Some words are acceptable such as "garage" i.e. for lack of phonemes, garidge ( as an brit might say it ) or gararsh ( like a French person might say it ) After all it is a French word that is used in English. But I wouldn't say i'm going to "Pari" for the weekend instead of Paris. That is hyper-foreignism and it's just not necessary. So in it goes to Room 101 ( rock_steady pokes it in with a long pointy stick ) get in there you! Of course, if you're learning Spanish and you are going to speak Spanish then the vowel sounds are different and some effort is required in order to pronounce it as a Spanish person would, but to mix and match your pronunciation when a word isn't native to the English language just sounds a bit silly IMO. so there !!
-
Hyper-foreignism is saying lasagne like an Italian, because if you didn't, I wouldn't understand what you were talking about The whole sentence is said with an English accent apart from the word "lasagne". Before laying the LAZAAAAAANIA on the bottom of the pan make sure that the LAZAAAAANIA is evenly spaced before pouring your cheese source over the LAZAAAAAANIA!

The Greddy-profec series EBCs are brilliant boost controllers. The CT26 waste-gate on the ST205 Gt-four starts to bleed off at 12 psi. Running it @ 1.2 bar (circa 17 psi) is pretty nippy to say the least. It's not out of breath by the red line either, it goes on and on and on......
-
Hyper-foreignism . Can't stand it. Just sound like a pretentious pillock. Or the incorrect use of certain words like " its quite unique " No, it's not. It's either unique or not unique. it can't be "quite unique"

if you want Anti-lag, you'll need a super strong turbo and a stand alone ECU. But it won't last long. The Anti-lag will kill the turbo in a year or so of 3k miles a year. I know, because I did it. Yes it's great but the turbo I had (hybrid) just wasn't up to it. Worth every penny Yeah it is!! Just need to spend that little extra on a better turbo, something with 360 thrust bearings and metal impellers should be good for a few years.

Yes, the imports had a different map for 101RON they use in Japan. The CT26 turbo (AKA CT20 but it's not as the CT20 is what you get on a Hilux) has a ceramic hot side impeller, so it's light to spool up. I did change mine for a steel impeller which of course is heavier but gives a bloody awesome whine when the party starts. They are quick off the mark as you say! 5.5 sec to 60 as standard with a good launch and gear change If you want coil-overs, I had 2 sets of Tiens. The second set gave up after four years! So I didn't buy them again so I went for a set of BC coil-overs instead which were just as good which a new poly bush kit and track rod ends. The GT-Four can corner like a house fly.

Anything else you can recommend? Its has had a full suspension replacement including fig 8s struts and springs, full caliper refurb, braided brake lines, all belts changed, rotor arm and dizzy cap, full silicone hose change, new exhaust, HKS dump valve, HID headlamps, new battery, water pump, thermo, ARB links. So he has done a fair bit of work...whiteline sway bar on the back I think as you mentioned, anything else a good must have? a lot of people refer to that water intercooler as " the failure box " as it suffers quite badly from heat soak. Whether that's true or not I don't know but I changed mine for a Front mount inter cooler from an EVO 8. Also put a sports CAT (200 cell I think) with a 3" stainless steel system. Helped it breathe a bit easier and made a nice worble.
