  1. Have you driven it? People have z's on here that have done similar or higher mileages so dont be put off by that if it has a good history. Does the history show when the clutch has been done as that could be imminent. You could do the re-laquer yourself with a can. You need to be looking for oil smoke when driving, overheating issues, rust (rear and front arches) etc. Alloys being curbed are immaterial - you will probably do it yourself anyway at some time. Btw, I understand why you want to spend "so little" on a Z!!
  2. If I'm mot wrong (and it has been known) pinking is the sound you can hear when the fuel air mixture in the cylinders detonates (like a diesel), instead of burning rapidly and it can wreck your engine eg put a hole in the top of the piston! Its usually most noticable when the engine is under load eg when going up a hill in a highish gear, putting your foot down will make it pink badly if there is a problem. Common cause on older cars was ignition timing being out, with the Z I guess you could still get that but it may mean something was awry with sensor or the ecu (off the top of my head!!!) Pinkling now, is that still legal?
  3. Welcome, Buxton is a nice part of the world. I used to live in Wirksworth.

  9. Why is magnatec getting such a bad press here? - I confess to having used it in the past!
  10. My money is on the door seal - mine became dislodged slightly at the front and the water was pouring in. It must be coming from somewhere almost directly above the pond as its a pretty small area for it to get into
  11. Welcome - We get across to York reasonably often, so might see you. North Yorkshire moors have some great driving roads and the Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge is a good lunch stop.
  12. sorry if this has been posted already - i caught sight of it while investigating the VPL triangle! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2641834/Mr-Bean-saves-day-Rowan-Atkinson-helped-save-McLaren-F1-drivers-life-horror-crash-Tuscany.html
  13. Hi, got my turbo stripped and cleaned (it was seized solid with carbon) and have noticed that one of the vane stems is bent at the top - see photos. Anyone got any experience of these turbos? - the bent one does not look right at all! Thanks for looking.
  14. That noise! brought a silly grin to my face. Exhaust was glowing nicely too. Can they go round corners too?
  15. Nice to see three pedals and a stick in action for a change. Thanks for posting
  16. my galaxy ace S2 does not work - model no GT-18160
  17. glad you sorted it - i'm going to have a go when the time comes
  18. On mine it was very easy to see that the banana arm bush had failed, as the arm was sitting right down on the mounting bolt - you can see it if you look under the car behind the front wheel - you may be able to move it at the chassis mounting if its failed like mine - but your mechanic would surely have spotted this
  19. I found when bleeding mine recently that it helped to have the car revving to get the pump producing some pressure and the coolant circulating faster. I had the bleed valve completely unscrewed and just waited for a decent airless flow to emerge from it - just need some rubber gloves to put the valve cap back (wish I'd thought of the coke bottle trick!)
