  1. I got fed up of my clutch pedal being unpredictable like this, so I totally flushed out the old, dirty fluid with new stuff - it took ages (at least an hour) and I flushed about 2 jam jars fo fluid. I used the "new" method I found on youtube and the clutch is much better now. heres my post - Having problems with my clutch - bled the slave, but the problem was soon back, then found this This guy seems to know what hes talking about - and from memory of the system on the z i think it may work
  2. It also keeps growing after you croak, along with your nails! How long has this question been bothering you? Cant wait for the next one!!
  3. Great I will give it a go. Just strange that theres been so many questions about how to do this but no ones pointed people in this direction. Just wish I'd thought of it myself!

  5. Is it not full of lumbering trucks on a sunday then? How does the Z compare with the Z4(M?)?
  6. On a construction or civil engineering project, the setting out engineers control the dimensional accuracy of the works - so any steel, concrete or earthworks is in the corrrect position (hence gps) and is the correct shape. To give a car analogy, the engineer creates the "jig" for the construction of the building (or whatever). On the cross rail project in London setting out engineers ensure that the tunnels thread accurately through the existing tube network and all the other stuff that buried beneath the streets.
  7. You could use it as a bargaining point and get a better deal
  8. Those two cars are pretty much poles apart! I had go in a cooper s a while ago and loved it - certainly felt faster than the z from a standstill and v good round corners. These early minis are definitley the prettiest too - they went downhill after this. Enjoy - looks like your z's gone to a sensible older driver anyway!
  9. I've been teaching maths for a number of years but I'm now looking to do setting out during school holidays/quiet periods. Its been about 20 years since I've done any, but I have got a reasonable amount of total station experience. I dont know anyone in the industry anymore and would like a clue as to whats changed. cheers
  10. ok, but the failure of a rocker cover gasket is of relative minor importance compared to the oilway gasket and its not going to result in your engine self destructing - I'm sure someone will correct me on this!
  11. Can anyone answer whether this an HR engine issue only? Or do us DE owners have to worry as well?
  12. That doesnt look bad. The best tip I picked up was to reduce the risk of blowing thru like that was to lean the welding tip in the direction youre going 45 deg or so - the opposite of what my old man told me!
  13. well done - i'd like to hear it running without headers, bet its like a merlin!
  14. they cant know there isnt a leak unless theyve checked for one - it sounds like a leak - can they tell you how much refrigerant they took out before they refilled it then compare that with whats left when you take it back in
  15. A massive thank you to Martin and Lexx for a great Saturday evening. Cars were great and it was good to meet some fellow zedders. Toyah was superb and the blues band were great too! Thanks again!
  16. Aside from the electronics, you've replaced two things that could have resulted in valve and ignition timing being out - is it worth checking the valve timing? and are you sure the flywheel has been put on correctly?
  17. Well impressed - almost inspired me to get on with the bathroom!!, almost
  18. This is weird - it ran constantly for about 20 mins today without a problem! Going to check fuses and relays still but things are looking up. Thanks for the suggestions
  19. Cheers, its clear that something is interrupting the current to the clutch, seems at pretty intervals as well - whether its a faulty sensor I dont know. I'm going to look at how the unit on the Z behaves. The vw/audi forum is pretty hopeless really, but I've posted on 2 galaxy forums cos its basically the same car. More research required I think
  20. Forgot about photobucket! http://i1349.photobucket.com/albums/p756/gareth291262/th_WP_20150620_15_41_12_Pro1_zpsipm9vtl7.mp4
