  1. Brilliant thanks for the responses, kept finding info about Altima gearboxes on my search so clearly you both have better googling skills than me! Should be able to get cracking with a fix at the weekend, hopefully just not plugged in properly rather than broken...
  2. Hi, recently had my engine light come on and after diagnostic at cougar store the code is P0850 - park/neutral switch input circuit. Cougar store couldn't offer any other advice as they said this is normally for cars with auto gearboxes, my car is manual. Does anyone have any ideas? The light came on soon after having the box out so wondering if it's likely to be a switch damaged during the process - any relevant part numbers would be very much appreciated. Cheers Matt
  3. The xtreme clutch kit that clark motorsport sell is absolutely brilliant and was the cheapest option that i could find for my HR - the kit i got included concentric slave cylinder too so all clutch related things shouldn't need looking at again for a long time! Feels exactly like OEM to me but much stronger - slight rattle at low revs from the lightweight flywheel but nothing too dramatic and seems to have quietened down over time...
  4. Fair do's - any recommendations for specialists in the west midlands?
  5. Hi i am extremely interested in getting this done - any chance you could reveal the mystery workshop so i can get in touch??
  6. Yeah please do! That's the alternative i guess - i was just worried that the cost might exceed the price of a replacement box but i'd rather get it rebuilt if feasible. How much did it cost? Everyone seems reluctant to give an idea of price of gearbox internals and likely cost of rebuild. Where did you get yours done? I'm in Sutton Coldfield (Birmingham)
  7. Hi all, I'm after a low mileage good condition or refurbed CD009 gearbox since the previous owner(s) have managed to ruin mine after 45000 miles! Cheers Matt
  8. that's great thanks for the tip - ill give them a shout
  9. Yeah that makes sense, i think all 350's have relatively noisy transmissions anyway. No this is the only one i have ever driven but def doesn't feel the same as when i bought it and i now know the gearbox is buggered having had it looked at, cougar store also previously told me mine is unusually noisy in 1st and 2nd. Maybe the diff is having issues too - ill change the diff oil this week and see if it makes a difference. Anyway back to the original question does anyone know how much a reconditioned CD009 would cost or know the availability and cost of replacement internals at a transmission specialist?
  10. Looks like you have a DE? I think the earlier gearboxes are prone to synchros wearing out which might be the crunching issue, and this should not be so much of a problem on the later HR 350's. That's why its annoying because mine is a relatively low mileage (50k) 2008 HR so i wasn't expecting anything like this when i bought it... Problem is i can feel the resistance through the whole drive-train and it just doesnt feel efficient - like the engine is having to work harder against the gearbox issues - so its ruining the driving experience at the moment otherwise i'd just live with it too
  11. Hi, After having my gearbox removed and looked at i've been told in no uncertain terms that i need a new gearbox due to wear on the cogs particularly 1st and 2nd. This was manifesting as whining noises and crunchy changes, which i initially assumed to be the bearings, but apparently they are all ok, its the gears themselves that are not doing so well. Does anyone know of the cost involved and where to get a reconditioned unit, or how much replacement internals typically cost at a gearbox specialist (and how available are they)? Not too keen on chancing a 2nd hand one and having the same issues so would need either the existing gearbox refurbing or buying an already refurbished CD009 gearbox. I had a new clutch and flywheel fitted whilst the box was out but the garage wasnt too keen on refurbing the box. I live in the west midlands (sutton coldfield) if it makes a difference. Cheers
  12. Ah right I see cheers bud. Yeah chatted to them yesterday as it happens - erring towards their extreme clutch kit as its much cheaper than standard and supposedly quite a bit better. Also good that it comes with csc and everything else that might go pop at some point so can sort all potential problems in one fell swoop...
  13. Hi chaps/chapesses, I'm after any knowledge people have on cutch and flywheel replacement on an 08 HR 350z. The car is up on ramps at the moment and I just wanted to know if anyone knows somewhere I can get them cheaper as I saw a post from ZMANALEX in 2012 quoting around £750 for both but I believe he is no longer trading? Cougar store have quoted around £1300 for aftermarket option. Definitely not up for paying close to £2000 for OEM replacement - seems ridiculous! Cheers Matt
  14. Got my 350z back :-)
