  1. Thanks mate. Its only 1 of 2 registered here in the UK as SSS. Saw the WD episode too.
  2. Small update. All my light clusters and pillar badges are almost ready for collection. The triple SSS pillar badges have been completely redone. The SSS and the chequered flags have been syringe injected with enamel and look fantastic. You cannot find originals of these and the replicas are around $800 a pair. He's done a very impressive job. Full photo library and pics to follow next week. UPDATE. ALL DONE. Just the bumpers to go.
  3. don't let it put you off, great cars...
  4. As stated previously this is a common weakness. My car had light use under my ownership and I am not a big person. The leather still got worn on the side bolster where your thigh rises over it getting in and out. I found using Auto Glym leather balm on a weekly basis helped keep the leather soft and from wearing. Not ideal but you could put a towel over it as you get in and out if you are fanatical.
  5. All I have spoken to ACE CAFE today and secured our annual date with them for Sat June 5th 2021. This has been a popular event in previous years so hope to see a good turn out again next year. Something positive for us all to look forward too. Keep Safe Martin
  6. All ok mate. Hope to see you soon.

    Chrome

PM sent, see my build thread. My guy can do that for you no problem with proper chrome.
  8. Hope you are keeping well Andy and we can meet up before the winter months descend.
  9. Thanks I negotiated a great deal. £300 for the light clusters, badges etc and £450 for the pair of bumpers which included removing some minor dents, welding the holes from the over riders I am removing. Drove over to see the progress yesterday. Here's some photos. Next stage is for him to re enamel the SSS badges in red and cream and to satin black some areas of the light clusters. Collecting next Friday. Bumpers will be another few weeks.
  10. Just a small update. Shes pretty naked right now as the rear and front light clusters, c pillar badges and bumpers are all away being re chromed. I wont post all the little jobs as there have been too many. I have purchased a new pillar antenna and re located it from the front wing (shouldn't have been there at all) and fibre glassed the hole. Whilst the rear bumper is away for chroming I have removed some self adhesive reflectors they fitted to cover some holes in the rear with and fibre glassed and flattened them. All will be made good when she gets her full bare metal respray in 18 months time. Oh, and fitted the exclusive SSS steering wheel I sourced from overseas, Last photo is her with her lights in before she went away. Decided to remove the rubber over riders on the bumpers to provide a cleaner look.
  11. You are doing an amazing job on this Andy and I have enjoyed our phone chats along the way exchanging project stories. Keep up the good work mate.
  12. Probably old news now but this offence was on the stretch of the M23 just north of Crawley and before Gatwick. Those of us who live in Sussex know the stretch well, its the stretch that passes over the railway line and alongside Tilgate golf club.
  13. Hope the dick gets caught and loses his license at least.
  14. if you are still having trouble please message one of the moderators who will help you.
  15. So next up is refurbishing the rear light clusters. They will be repainted and re chromed but as always with older cars it isn't that simple. Removed the units and opened them up to clean but 50 years of being on this planet has meant the rubber internal gaskets are all dried out and rotten. Have ordered some self adhesive 2mm/5mm draft excluder rubber to make my own replacements. Lights are now out ready to drop off Saturday along with my rear quarter badges and front light surrounds. Replacing current rear bulbs with plug and play LEDs.
  16. Plug leads you mean Col ?. Will be getting black in good time mate.
  17. Hi all. A lot has happened in the short time she has been back with me having been locked down having her suspension fitted since 18th March. She now sits much better on her coilovers. First up was to give her a good clean, polish the original and rare watanabe rims and dress the tyres. Next was to polish the wing mirrors mounted on her bonnet. Followed this little job with a refurb of the grill and then fitted my SSS badge. Swapped out the standard airbox for some conical filters and added the required breather filter. Removed the tatty petrol tank cover in the trunk and carpeted it. Next job was to template a new back plate to the trunk which I will also cover along with making a new boot floor plan and carpeting that too. Will let you follow the photos in order of the above. More to follow over the coming days and weeks. Hope everyone remains safe and well.
  18. Why don't you plasti dip paint it first in white and if you don't like it just peel it off and plasti dip it black. Plasti dip is great for experimenting. Once you are happy then PAINT it.
  19. Don't have a full size z anymore as have my Datsun 510. I do still have this though,
  20. Why are you selling Steve ? and whats the next move ?
  21. Gloss black mate. Needs to be seen not 'NOT SEEN'. Will also work better with your other mods. IMHO.
  22. Thanks Andy. Don't worry all in hand and in good time. Hope we can catch up later this year. Martin
  23. the restoration project is now resumed. Currently the carbs and associated hardware is being rebuilt as on inspection there are a few signs of wear in her 49 years of being in this world. Gaskets were shot so new ones have been made from gasket corking as originals are near impossible to source. Also had to put a new copper float in the rear carb as she had become porous. They are all refreshed and going back on with new fuel pipes and clips. Lastly, added a new fuel filter.
  24. Perfectly articulated. PS We all want to "get back to the future" asap admist these troubled times.
  25. At least it wont rust.. I brought my SSS as a project and future investment to enjoy along the way. Check Haggerty out for future classics and good investments.
