I'm keen to see the outcome of this. I've been considering EBC's BSD Blade discs as an upgrade. I have HEL lines, 660 fluid and yellowstuff currently, and I consider my brakes to be excellent. The HEL lines, if nothing else, simplify and reduce weight of the large amount of tackle in the OEM system - all those pipes, unions and corroded fittings now gone. In your instance, IMHO as other said before, it sounds like air in the pipe or bad fluid, causing expansion on heavy use leading to binding and overheating. Just my 2p's worth.

On mine, the automatic fold feature only works if the manual rocker is set to 'open' - ie over to the right. In rocker centre or close position, the power via the locking system is not routed to/from the mirror controls. (this gotcha got me too once)

+1 I commute over 300 Z miles a week and have a spare set of OEM wheels. Seems like a no-brainer to use winters for preservation of nice summer wheels as well as enhanced low temperature grip. Only choice for me is Kumho (etc) from camskill (etc) or Michelin Alpin from Costco. Winters are stored away from from UV and wear during the summer, so should be good for years.

I have! There's a GM who has been floating around the well known base in the area (which I live near) which looks like the same one to me. Sir Jimmy's campain in the 70's was pretty effective: Clunk Click - every trip. Maybe a reminder of that rather than more interlocks could be used.

I was gutted when the garage slightly marked (and on one wheel - pin pricked the inner rim) my brand new Rotas, including using enough force to make some of them slightly out of round... They scraped the old set too I had used a previously trusted mechanic for fitment - their machine was old too - but he'd done a good job before on OEM rims. Unfortunately, the boss was away, and it was his last weekend working at the garage ..equals slack. But when 8 wheels and 6 tyres switcharoo and a car on the hoist are involved, theres not much to do but see it through. At least they pulled the plug on your first wheel though The damage inflicted on your wheel is way worse than mine by a long way - but I sympathise how you must be feeling! Tarmac is a fine fellow for offering to help out

Your motor internals probably look like this You can refurb them easily enough But brushes eventually wear out - and they are not a standard size (according to the US 350z site). I might look into modding a set of close but no banana replacements from RS if the refurb to mine fail down the line. Easiest thing is to buy Alex or Tarmac's cheaper than Nissan replacement items.

I'm on Brembo, Yellowstuff, HEL lines, Motul 660 and OEM discs... and I think my brakes are looovvveelly for road use - positive, bite and stop are great IMHO. Never noticed any sign of fade either. I am tempted by Alex's T3 and Ferrodos next time - but since I dont track, I wonder if they are overkill for my purposes. Cheaper Black Diamond appear to be regarded well (coldel), so may be a good combi with yellowstuff.

I shared a flash/wave with a GM at about that time at exactly that spot by the sounds of it (b4009 wendover turning to the hill upto tring?). Mine is a blade but could look like a GM when under the trees I was stuffed to the gunnels with costco shopping and beer boxes, so taking it nice and gently. I had also previously passed a red 240Z on the way to MK then saw it again on the way back on the same road Then I saw a similar looking GM tentatively driving the backroads around Burnham and Taplow on Saturday - I was driving the wife's civic (full of bikes) back from the olympics then (so didn't wave) - we're everywhere at the moment

I do have an easy fix for this: park with the nose down hill. Mine collects water but only when parked nose up. Water gets in and gets trapped below the back of the door, but seems to drain ok from the front of the door. I suppose if you are parking on a flat you maybe stuffed however.

I'll gladly field trial any free samples No? ....Oh well

Looks fine to me. No tax so SORNd, meaning probably the guy got something cheaper/shed-like to run and this car has been sitting around doing nothing. Now he wants rid. Good miles, upgrade interior - subject to usual checks could be a possible bargain for someone!

Yup, the GTR-D (dish) is on the back. Both types of wheel without tyres in these different 18" sizes come in at 10.1kg (by my bathroom scales) so a good bit less than OEM but a bit more than Rays. Only worry I have is I put a pair of Ventus V12 (245x45x18 partworns) on the 9.5" D's so they are ever so slightly stretch. Fronts are fine but I'll be revisiting tyre choice on replacement next spring.

I've just put on Rota GTR and GTR-D in 18x8.5 ET30 front and 18x9.5 ET25 rear, with stock sized tyres. I decided I didn't want too much fitment agression. My suspension is also standard - and so it looks like this (please excuse the un-staged nature of the photos ) Personally, I like the 18" look over 19 - I like a bit of arch room as the tight or over cambered look makes me cringe a bit. I'm really happy with these wheels - just what I wanted. Big thanks to Tarmac for the supply. Great idea of his to go for a GTR/GTR-D combo instead of same both ends.

Do what we do - both cars on the road/drive (as said above lower insurance) and fill the garage to bursting point with tools, spare wheels, tyres, lawnmowers, bikes, kayaks and other cr@p. Everybody is happy that way

I owned two Alfas in the dark days of 80's and 90's. They were an Alfasud 1.5Ti and a Alfa GTV6 2.5. Both were fine cars IMHO, and not entirely rubbish in terms of reliability. Yes there were some issues - I broke 3rd gear and prop shaft donuts on the GTV6 - a common problem, and odd electrical solenoid fails (and an electrical FIRE on the M1) with the Alfasud, but engines in both were mechanically great. Bodywork on the otherhand was entirely as expected reputation - both cars decayed far worse than any car I've ever seen or owned. I believe the Romans when they came to Britain had the same issues with armour and mental health - they prefered a sunny climate So it was with my Alfas. However, Alfa after being acquired by Fiat made great strides in body protection, and apparently they are as good as any other car now. As Clarkson said: Every petrol head has to own at least one Alfa in their life

I was hoping someone would spark up and say a nice set of Rota GTRs would be perfect I currently have my eye on a set of very pretty silver ones.... well I like 'em but then I'm not tracking (yet) I used to like OEM wheels, but now they look like wagon wheels a bit.. Sorry, thread invasion I'll get me coat..

I'm still ploughing through 4 tins of Simoniz original (costco impulse buy). Nice and shiney, but a complete git to polish off too if the temperature is less than about 20C.

That was well and truely stamped on a few years ago wrt Oz - only one private car every 5 years... also ownership in source country for 1year or tax is applied, and the person must be or become resident in Oz. This means private property is allowed, but business exports are subject to rules and costs. (sorry)

+1 with that. If we ever relocate to Oz, we're taking our cars with us (1 private car allowed per person) as its cheaper to RORO them for a grand than sell and buy again. An equivalent 03 zed like mine is AU$25k compared to the £6.2k I paid 18months ago. Second hand cars are cheap here - just petrol and running cost is tragic in comparison.
