  1. Even if the weeded out all of the fake injuries, uninsured drivers, morons, unsafe drivers and idiotic chavs, the premiums would still be sky high as like the majority of businesses they're money grabbing ****s and won't lower their prices once they have seen people will pay the highest rates!
  2. Before I had the PlayOn I used to use my macbook -> PS3 via PSMS which worked great but some files struggled to get transcoded on the fly. If you have a PS3 then you won't need the PlayOn for majority of files, you can just use PSMS on your mac. You just have to set the network adaptor the correct one, add folders to PSMS and your PS3 should pick the folder up. I'd try that out first before buying the PlayOn as your PS3 might do everything you need
  3. Yeah it should work over your network then. Depends on the homeplugs, what make are they and 85mbps or 200mbps? I think the lower might struggle to stream 1080p. But yes, plug one of these into your TV, into your router which goes through homeplug to your laptop with external hard drive that is being shared and it should all work for under £100
  4. If you buy the standalone unit you connect it to your TV via HDMI and then you have two choices for getting the content onto the TV. 1. Plug in USB HDD to the PlayOn. 2. Connect the PlayOn to the same network your laptop is on, share the folder on your laptop then the PlayOn will find it. You can do this via ethernet or buy a wireless dongle for the PlayOn. if you want to stream HD stuff (720/1080p) you won't be able to do it over wireless. You will either have to have the media stored on a USB HDD or have the PlayOn and laptop connected to a router/switch via ethernet cable. One of the main reasons I went with the PlayOn over the Apple TV was the interface, ease of use, and the fact that out of the box it can play pretty much any file type(avi, mp4, wmv, mkv, iso). You can also go for the standard version which can house a 2TB HDD, I have the mini as my stored media is elsewhere.
  5. If you're looking to stream things from a mac/pc/NAS box then you can't beat this little bit of kit. I have it hooked up to my HP ProLiant server which is running FreeNAS with 4TB RAID1 so my data is backed up. http://www.playonhd.com/en/?upn=product ... playonhdm2 I contemplated an Apple TV before I bought the PlayOn Mini but to get what I wanted required hacking the Apple TV and putting custom firmware on it, the PlayOn just works out the box perfectly for me.
  6. 9 miles each way. 5 of those miles are on the East Lancs (A Road) which is 50mph but is a mixture of that and traffic. 4 of the miles are stop starting in traffic on a bad day, or 20-30mph in average traffic on a good day. Average between 22-24mpg depending on traffic.
  7. Great find! I'll be grabbing a pair from them if they're that price
  8. Bloody southerners It's a different type of **** on the road up North(from what I've seen), but nonetheless still a ****.
  9. I'll be upgrading my MBP to Lion as soon as it's out just for any performance increases. The "New Features" don't really interest me, can't see myself using any of them! iOS5 on the other hand looks awesome!
  10. If you've still got one when I get back from holiday (18th) I'll drop you a PM. Would love a pair but it depends how much I spend on holiday with the missus
  11. I didn't see a single zed in the first 3 weeks of owning one, and now they're like buses! Spotted **53 ZED near the MEN, love the plate!
  12. Nice spot! Any idea what they'd look like on a 350? Not seen any with them before.
  13. Think I'll give the DW guide a go, if it looks turd then I'll see about a respray or just someone to sort out the scratch. Cheers guys!
  14. I'll see if I can get a photo before the F1 starts. Parked downstairs in a mates garage so should be decent lighting! Found a mobile smart repairer literally just round the corner from me, http://www.kiwicolourmanchester.co.uk/ might give them a bell if it seems the best option. There are a fair few stone chips on the bumper and the odd one elsewhere but I was hoping to leave it until I decide what new front/rear bumper and skirts to get but driving round with a scratch on it just irritates me even though I can't see it! Thanks for the link RP, I'll have a read through.
  15. Driving down the East Lancs yesterday and looked like someone had absolutely smashed into the wall on the other side of the road. Next thing I know I've driven over a big piece of wirey metal, not happy I've had a look and the bumper has a scratch maybe 2 inches long on it and it's fairly deep, can catch your nail in it easily. Is there any DIY fix for this or is a trip to body shop? What would I be looking at to get it filled and full respray? The bumper has quite a few stone chips on it so I was thinking about doing it but not for a while as driving down the East Lands every day of the week will just ruin it again. I've got the touch up stuff from Nissan when I bought the car second hand, but if they're just for tiny light scratches I won't bother as I don't want it looking worse than it already is! Thanks!
  16. I like the roof but not sure on the bonnet!
  17. I just swapped over my girlfriends phone from Orange to giffgaff. Simple and much cheaper, I'd do the same if I wasn't in a Vodafone contract. But then again I'm paying £10pm for 600mins/unl text/unl data! The community based customer service from giffgaff is top notch though, very very helpful
  18. If it sounds like she's going to contest it being her fault why admit to flashing her? Surely you could have accidentally knocked it and she just pulled out. I would've thought it's her fault regardless of flashing or not. It's like pulling out of a junction because someone is indicating to turn, if they hit you it's not entirely their fault as you're only meant to pull out when its clear and safe to. Assume everyone on the road is an idiot, it helps.
  19. If the photographs are taken from a tripod in the exact same position then you could setup an action in Photoshop to add a filter to correct the background. You can get Photoshop Elements for about £50 or try using Pixelmator free trial. Not sure if you can do batch actions in this though: http://www.pixelmator.com/
