    Opie oils

Dunno about Motul but I just did an order with Opie - use the code "25PB" to get 25% off your order total. BTW I ordered the 5w30 Fuchs XTR synthetic for my Z as part of their "service pack" which includes a filter and 6l of oil.
  2. adding postage, then import duty and then VAT will bring it to more like £400. Still cheap but a bit of a risk - would be a massive faff to send back if anything was wrong / missing.
  3. Welcome from a serial ex-corrado owner! I've had 2x Corrado VR6s then went in search of something similar but newer and got a TT 225 coupe for a while. This didn't fill the VR6 boots (I yearned for a burbly six pot and the Corrado's angular good looks) so bought a 350z which ticks all the boxes (except seats and boot space, ah well).

    Brembo colour chart

Just a couple of quid from their ebay shop.
  5. Go for the whole weekend. Theres too much to see in one day - theres too much to see in the weekend! Don't bother with a grand stand either.

    Brembo colour chart

It'll be fine for small chip touch ups - I wouldn't paint my whole caliper with the stuff though! Wow I should have asked them for 5p commission on each referral I orders a bunch of fine paint paint brushes from them at the same time to do all my stone chips - just hold off paying and they combine the postage in checkout.

  8. This could be the bargain of the year or a pain in the arse. I've bought cars off rich gits in the past who don't seem to appreciate the cars. They either hand it to the dealer once a year with a blank cheque and say do what it needs... or they forget and and haggle and do the bare minimum. Best to ask him which dealers he has had it serviced at - press him for this as Nissan UK don't hold any central records unlike most German mfrs. Then ring the dealers who will tell you exactly what its had done themselves. If you're not confident about checking the car out properly yourself then get a garage or AA inspection! New MOT will have "yes" in the advisories box if it has any - if he loses the sheet then you can look it up online with the V5 ref. At £6.5k you are 1.5 grand or so under the normal asking price, so even if you have to spend a few quid on it to make it mint you have room to manouvre.
  9. Did you see this one from the RX8 OC: Glowing discs?! http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/vi ... fc1148c2f2
  10. Are these still available? Where are you in the country? Cheers.
  11. It was good to meet a few other 350z owners on Saturday- mine was the Blue 04 GT. I didn't get chance to chat much as the Z was being pasted around the circuit constantly by me or my dad and I had to get to Tesco to fill up again over lunchtime. This was easily the best trackday I've ever been on (its my 6th or so at a variety of tracks and organisers). Despite having done a few days before I'm no means an expert and my Dad was a novice. The number of cars on track was low enough to always have a bit of space and not being constantly over taken / overtaking, behaviour of all the drivers was very good (almost all waiting for indication before overtaking, no tailgating or cutting up. The instructor was great and we got his first slots. The best bit was all the cash going to charity even with donation the day was very well priced. I will defo be up for this type of event again. The only failure was my own - buying cheap Pagid pads from euro car parts - you could really feel them getting softer within a couple of laps (had to throw in the odd slow laps to let them cool) and they are now pretty much lunched. Previous Brembo pads stood up much better! The airfield surface has also munched my tyres....
  12. I have one of these to get the hose clips off - great for confined spaces! They use these spring clips rather than jubilee clips on cars these days as they are much faster to fit (with the correct tools) and give even pressure around the hose - a jubilee clip can pinch sometimes.
  13. Whats the visit about then on the Friday? I didn't have any info on this just the drivers day on Sat? Might not be able to make Friday but would be cool to know whats going on? Cheers.
  14. Hi Alex - if its not sold please can I buy it? Just PM me payment details and I'll send payment. Cheers.
  15. Don't forget Fuel duty will go up again in April so Zs will take another hit then. Annoying as I think they are pretty economical really. My Z is better on fuel than my old Corrado VR6s were.
  16. I've seen a few of interest on autoquake.com but I think you need to buy before you try, or at least that's the impression I got, which puts me off a bit. The prices look reasonable, what was your experience of them? I went with a mate to buy an 06 A4 estate from Autoquake Leeds. Prices are non-negotiable but they have lots of high res images on the site and they don't do any cheap prep (e.g. alloys scarred, car in need of a polish etc). He paid a deposit (which is 100% refundable if you don't like it on viewing) You can only see the car you have put the deposit on even if they have a few similar ones. We show up look round the car inside, then go out for a test drive in their massive car park. The car checked out so he paid the balance They offer a full refund within 14 days if you change you mind. As far as I can work out its a cheap way of punting on ex-lease cars that gets the companies a higher price than trade auctions. We had a positive experience - I don't see how it could be negative unless you drive for miles to get there to find theres damage you didn't spot in the high res pictures.
  17. Do your calculations carefully! I only do 7k per year but looked at swapping the Z for an e46 330cd. MPG figures I sourced from owners forums, not official figures. Total saving inc tax, insurance and fuel was £400 for the 330cd. Over 15k it would be £750. The Z is worth it
  18. Most cars a few years old will have had some repair work, either just paint or panels. The only way to be sure is to buy new.... even they they can be damaged between production line and you driveway. So long as the repair has been done well with OEM panels then surely there is little problem?
  19. Insist you want just the oil change not the extra checks - you can do those yourself/MOT. Always worth asking if they will price match. I got VW down from £160 (basic service) to £80 (just oil & filter change) then down to £35 (price match national tyres) for my GF's golf. National tyres http://www.national.co.uk will do an oil and filter change for £37.50 on a Z using Castrol Edge 0W-30 full synth - worth a try at a price match. I usually self service but if you can get them down to these prices its not worth getting your hands dirty, plus you get a stamp in the book.
  20. I'm up for this Thanks for the invite! I've emailed my address to them and told them The G Man sent me! 1. The G Man 2. Wasso 3. Neilp 4. Vik54 5. remould 6. GT4 Zed 7. Was8v (sent for pack)
  21. Akaik Rays were extra on top of gt spec in 2004, so not standard although most GT spec cars got them.
  22. Hi Alan, welcome to the self service 350Z club. I did a 50k P3-equivalent to mine earlier this year (oil, filters, coolant, spark plugs, diff and gearbox oils) and find the Z a joy to work on after years of 15-year old hatchbacks. I need to attend to a noisy front roll bar drop link and one of my axles has just started clicking so I will be regreasing and rotating it before it gets bad and needs replacing. Theres no way I'm pulling it apart in this weather though!
  23. Nowt wrong with part worn tyres - when you buy a 2nd hand car all the tyres are part worns! As said though, stick to decent brands - also if you can, check the date code on the tyre - I wouldn't fit anything more than a couple of years old (the rubber does start to harden and crack due to UV after 3/4 years).
