  1. How did you adjust the pedal? When I tried I got the clevis pin out OK, slackened off the locknut but couldn't get the clearance (between pedal arm and clevis) to screw the clevis down. (I removed the stop bolt and switch). http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Clutch_Adjustment Did you manage to do this? I really need to lower my biting point! Cheers.
  2. I wouldn't pay it! - Check / post on pepipoo first but: Only council / police parking charges are enforced through the courts etc. Courses of action I've read about on pepipoo before: a) bin it and anything else they send you, don't respond write back saying their dispute is with the driver of the vehicle, not the registered keeper, please halt all correspondence - they can't make you tell them who was driving. ------- EDIT: they are well known: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q= ... CBwQrQIwAA No need to pay up.
  3. Just stick another litre in if it needs it. Who the hell is going to steal one litre of oil?!
  4. Thats the perception, however: They are lower, seats are lower and further back so they have lower centre of gravity and better balance than a golf. They have a lot more power and the haldex does a very good job of getting it down. They are higher spec than a golf. As a result they are leagues better to drive than any Golf mk4 (the GTI is not worthy of the name) Parts are very cheap because they share so much with golfs! Its a great point and squirt car, not as much fun or as involving as a Z but still good fun and very comfortable.
  5. I'd agree with this. I had a 1999 225 coupe for a year at 100k miles. Interior was better than the Z Climate control was better than the Z's I fixed my dashpod issues (swapped for a 2nd hand unit and used my laptop VAGTACHO & VAGCOM to code immob/set mileage) for under £50, nowhere near the £700 dealers quote. Was a great car, but it isn't a sports car like the Z is. More like a good all round small GT car I suppose. Practical too as I had roof bars for a bike rack.
  6. I did mine the other month 55k mile P3 service: I've accumulated all the bits needed for a full P3(+) spec service for my Z: -Gearbox oil (opie oils Motul) -Diff Oil (opie oils Gulf) -Brake Fluid (opie oils silkolene) -Full set of brake pads (euro car parts Pagid) -Engine Oil (euro car parts 5w30 semi synth - most on here go fully syn) -Sump plug washer (crush washers - I got a load off ebay) -Oil filter (euro car parts Mikayo) -Air Filter (euro car parts Mikayo) -Spark plugs (opie oils Denso) -Coolant (already had this in Fuchs) -Both aux drive belts (mine were cracked, sourced from ZmanAlex) 350Z is dead easy to work on
  7. A P3 service is the most expensive and spark plugs need replacing at 50k miles IIRC. So if you are that bother about service costs then look for one with those recently done, and perhaps evidence of a recent clutch as they seem to get a hard life from 350Z owners. MPG wise I get mid twenties average. Motorway at 70-80 mid to late twenties, motorway trips with the cruise set to 65 will get nearly 30mpg and round town low twenties. I don't bother with V power as it doesn't seem to make a perceptible difference on the road for me. Plus one of my regular V Power filling stations got done some time back by trading standards for selling boggo unleaded out of V power pumps, I never bothered since then as I couldn't tell the difference anyway.
  8. Autohotkey is what you want. http://www.autohotkey.com/ I / a savvy person could write a script for it to send the refresh command (the F5 key) to your browser every 19 minutes pretty easily. I used it to give an application the keyboard focus every 10ms to prevent anything taking the focus.
  9. I'd say its depends totally on your confidence / ability. 1) Do a few laps to get over the nerves and "wow amazing, I'm on a track" feeling getting used to passng / being passed) 2) Have an instructor go out with you (worth every penny), showing the lines and braking points and teaching you how to drive (this will make a massive difference) 3) Start to push it a bit with the TCS on to get a feel for where it would start to let go. If you light it up then you aren't smooth enough! 4) Have a bit of a play with the TCS off to get an idea for how the car behaves at the limit. I got to 3) on a track afternoon in the Z in Anglesey. The track was too busy for me to go to 4) really. Most TDO's have a rule 3 spins and you are banned. Bear this in mind before attempting any heroics. The idea generally is to get round a track as quickly as possible (rather than as sideways as possible) so smoothness is the key. If you want to go sideways a lot go on a drift day. Oh and don't bat an eyelid at letting "crap" cars past, lots are driven by very experienced drivers.
  10. No they aren't. I bought my Z without a service book. I rang all the dealers close to the the place the first owners had it MOTed (iinfo from motinfo.gov.uk) and eventually got lucky and tracked down 3x services and they posted a stamped book out to me for £9. If you know the names of the garages just call them up. Bear in mind your car may have had private plates on so get a list of those first (a decent HPI check will give them).
  11. Welcome - there's quite a few ex-TT owners on here! I had a 1999 225 TTC - and made the upgrade. The Z is so much more of a sports car than the TT ever was. The one thing I miss from the TT is the excellent climate control, the Z's isn't as good. In sports car terms, a Z is definitely 100% an upgrade. In practicality terms its a downgrade. The TT is a great "compromise" car.
  12. 50% worn means there's half left surely? I'd say your rear pads were worn out hence the metal on metal noise - change them ASAP before they damage the disc! On Brembos it takes like 15 mins to change the pads, easiest pad change I've ever done
  13. PM'd you - can you do a price for these as well as a drivers side B pillar trim? Cheers.
  14. You need to say "dial" again after the name is played back.. E.g. you : "Dial named" Zed : "The name please" you: "Home" Zed (in your recoded voice): "home" you: "Dial"
  15. This was coastal yeah - I did a VXR event on the full International circuit a few months back. I enjoyed the corkscrew, tried a few lines till I got the hang of it..... TBH my mate (Clio 182 cup) was more "on the pace" than me and suffered less from it being busy. I was taking it easy really so had to keep letting people past. It was the most crowded track day I've been on - felt like they should have had the full Intl circuit to give a bit more space. But then again it was only £80 (or £140 for the full day) open pitlane. A few people were doing "bad overtakes" i.e. not waiting until slower cars had indicated and pulled over - this could perhaps have been picked up on.
  16. I did a trackday (my first in the 350Z) yesterday at Anglesey with circuit-days.co.uk. Shared the driving with my dad (his first time on track). Just made it for the afternoon session - only £80 with free 20min instruction (which my dad took). I was a little apprehensive as its the first opportunity I've had to drive it properly (i.e. away from the road), and the first time I've tracked a RWD car. I won't claim to have got near the cars limits - it performed impeccably, it was out on track most of the afternoon and didn't bat an eyelid. I didn't have the confidence to switch the ESP off since the track was very busy most of the day, I tried to be smooth and push as much as I could without having the ESP intervene. I think a car limits / airfield day may be better for practising tail out moments before venturing on a busy track without ESP. I'm a very nervous passenger in my car especially when my dad (new to performance driving) dabbed the brakes in the middle of a fast corner I didn't bother with insurance as it was £80- with a grand excess, even a wreck of a 350Z goes for £5k on ebay so I gambled against it. If you get the chance - get your Z on track! Circuit-days was a bargain especially including the instruction (which I'd say was essential for newbies). Some pics - hope they show up: This Ginetta race car was amazing:
  17. The metal trim around the audio controls on my steering wheel is scratched from a PO's rings. Also the drivers side door interior pull is scratched up. Has anyone got these parts by any chance?! can the dealers supply?
  18. Call BS and go somewhere else or fit the plugs yourself in an hour. Plugs are less than £50. How much do you get paid? less than £150 an hour I'd wager.
  19. Great thanks! So the numbers are stored in the car kit, not the bluetooth? Interesting as I'm trying to track down the early history of my car. Maybe its worth a call to "dad home" to see if he knows where his son serviced the Z.
  20. Just got the bluetooth adapter and paired my iphone with it. I recieved a call OK. When i press the button on the wheel and say "list contacts" my car (in a previous owner's voice) lists "dad home, dad mobile, scouse, sarah" How do i delete these and get MY numbers into it? How do i make a call???

  22. Thanks guys Anyone else fancy Anglesey GP on the 29th July (next week)? £149 all day or £80 for the afternoon with free tuition and free extra drivers. Bargain! I'll be there
  23. Will my standard 2004 UK 350Z GT be OK at a 95dB limit day? I have no idea how loud it is or concept of how loud 95dB is....
  24. The car looks good. That low recent mileage would concern me - go on motinfo.gov.uk and carefully check the mileages of each MOT, see if it tallies with any other history you have. With regards oil changes, yes it would be better every year but at such a low mileage then I would gamble it will be fine.
  25. This was an issue for me when I first picked it up, I could hardly drive the thing! I soon got used to it, although when I switch from my girlfriends golf I can be a little jerky... I cannot get my clutch to slip using usual test of slow speed, high gear + a few revs + dump clutch so think it has life in it yet at 54k. However it is normal for a pre facelift Z to have a high clutch apparently. Drive another and see if its the same.
