  1. Nowt wrong with Nissan Micra spec oil
  2. Denso Iridium worked out cheaper than NGK platinum for me. Sign up with opieoils.co.uk as a member (to get reduced prices) and use the code APRILFREESHIP to get free delivery. A full set of 6 denso iridium is about £42 delivered. Even cheaper is the NGK copper alternative at around £25, but then you have to replace them after around 15k and some say they don't produce as good a spark leading to a very slight reduction in fuel economy and performance. IIRC iridium are changed after 40-50k miles.
  3. I stand corrected! I've never noticed on my Z to be honest, might have a squiz under the bonnet tonight!
  4. This! If it is - do you have a pattern for it as I'm about to cut one out too and a pattern will save making a cardboard template first!

    Diff oil

For diff oil, I just bought: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60318-clear ... l-oil.aspx "Gulf Gear LS 80w-90 limited slip differential oil" GL5 In clearance at £4.75 a litre (2 bottles needed). Sign up for an account for cheaper prices and use the code: APRILFREESHIP to get free delivery I also bought 3x http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60349-clear ... x-oil.aspx GL4/GL5 for gearbox oil. Waaaay cheaper than anywhere else. Gearbox oil is slightly different grade to original - its not going to make any difference.
  6. Sounds like they are putting it back to standard to get it working as it should. Ask them, if you can keep "the old cats" - someone on here / ebay will buy a set of milltek high flow cats off you, be worth a few quid!
  7. Should be painted same as the top! Maybe they have just not bothered to lacquer the underside?
  8. Nice choice! I made the same move myself from TT 225C. As good as it was, it was no sports car. I'm suffering a bit from lack of practicality (had a roof bike rack for the TT and liked the big boot), but loving the noise and handling! Airbag light may be the connector under one of the seats,
  9. Well the Pagids have arrived from Euro car parts, and look the same shape as the EBC Brembo images above. Not fitted yet, will be doing so soon. £45 for a full set front and rear of OE quality Pagid brake pads May not perform so well on the track as posh pads but for road use (and my nervous track use) they should be fine. ECP are pretty cheap for oil and air and oil filters too. If you are ordering from euro car parts then the code catoffer05 will save you 5% off over £50 and catoffer10 saves 10% off over £100
  10. It did with me - I had a Corrado VR6 at the time and lots of insurance co's wouldn't quote on under 25s. The ones that would insure over 25s beat the others. I've used virgin car insurance, then cancelled within 2 weeks and got a full refund. Just make sure you don't crash! Check the T&Cs.
  11. I've been getting 27MPG (and rising) on my 8 mile daily commute. This can't be right! Computer says close to 30mpg on motorway runs with the cruise at 77mph! Thought these were supposed to be thirsty cars!? I guess I'd better start using it properly - are there any forum organised track days in the North?
  12. I'd be interested to hear the justification for such frequent changes! Do these cars see a lot of track time? Or are they modified? As far as I understand, they don't have a reputation for being particularly sensitive or prone to oil issues. Is it just piece of mind? - If so can I have your old oil to put in my partners golf PS I'm not tight - I'll happily spend the cash if its required. I have a mate with an intergalactic mileage diesel Peugeot at the other end of the scale who changes the oil with supermarket oil every 20k, and then puts the old engine oil in the fuel tank! The engine still runs sweetly (although the rest of the car is falling apart).
  13. Opieoils (i've used them a lot in the past) recommend either: Millers 5w30 semi synth or a variety of 5w30 fully synth for the 350Z. Now I understand the main advantage of fully synth is that it is longer lasting - higher shear strength. This has allowed manufacturers to get longer and longer drain intervals (up to 30k on some cars). Also won't break down as quickly at high temps. If its going to get binned after only 9k miles, then it may as well be a cheaper semi synth (still using high quality brand oil). Opie are happy to recommend semi synth and the 350Z handbook specifically states "mineral oil" is recommended. Seems the forum consensus is to use fully synth - but I'm now thinking its money down the drain for me so I will use semi synth and drain every 6k. Perhaps If I was aggressive with the revs on track days etc and 9k intervals then it would be worth me using fully synth. Thanks for the input though everyone!
  14. This has probably been done to death but: Manual states 5w30 oil to be used. Manual also states "Mineral oil" so not synthetics. I would have thought a modern car like this would run on fully synth (although I suppose it is not a turbo engine). I'm planning to go for 5w30 semi synth (less than 1/2 price of fully synth) and change it myself every 6k miles. What is the forum consensus on oil? If you were buying a used car would you rather see fully synth changes every 12k or semi every 6k?!
  15. Hmm these product catalogues are a little confusing. Euro Car parts list Pagid for a 2004 350Z, no mention of Brembo except in the rear details. ECP Pagid Front: Dimensions H:73.6mm;L:119.8mm;Th:14.3mm Standard EBC front pads: Brembo EBC front: ECP Pagid Rear: Diemnsion H:65.5mm;Th:14.4mm;W:76.7mm Standard EBC rear: Brembo EBC rear: So the ECP pads most closely fit the dimensions of Brembo pads. I'll order them and fingers crossed they will be right. At £45 delivered for a full car set they are very cheap.
  16. Thanks for the heads up. I'm not going to skimp on pads and buy compressed horses**t (doubt you even buy such nasties for brembos). The ones I was looking at at Mintex / Pagid OE spec ones.
  17. Cool! thanks. I was wondering if it was a bar like the front or not and why it is so big!
  18. I have a 350z GT with the Brembo brakes. Looking on a few sites for pads (brakes international and euro car parts) and they only list 1 set of pads for the 350Z. Are the pads therefore the same for brembo and non brembo cars? Thanks.
  19. Just pondering what the rear stut brace looks like when stripped of its plastic..... There is a lot of plastic covering it - has anyone stripped an interior and taken a picture?
  20. Euro Car Parts do standard Pagid pads for ~£23 for fronts or rear and free delivery. Are the pads the same for Brembo and non-Brembo cars? I can't see alternatives listed anywhere!

    Single rear Rays

I'm after a single rear Rays Alloy ASAP. Going to get some new tyres fitted and one rear has a fair dent. All my others have some curbing and corrosion so I'm not fused about a mint one, just not dented! Let me know if you have one
  22. Thanks for the warm welcome! Seems a high clutch is normal for this age of Z: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=29297
  23. I take it they are all like this then? I did what you are not supposed to and bought the first car I tried (so I don't know!). Oh and I viewed it in the dark and the rain..... Also I will be servicing the car myself. Is there a breakdown of what exactly is involved in the P1 P2 and P3 services anywhere? also fluid types and capacities I need to buy to give it a full service? Thanks.
  24. First off I'm a new owner of a 2004 Blue 350Z GT! Had great fun picking it up and on the drive home. Have a few questions: The clutch bite point is kinda "immediate" at the top of the pedal travel not "gradual" over the last half of travel like most cars. the clutch doesn't slip (as far as I can tell). Makes it a little tough to drive smoothly. 1) Can the clutch be adjusted in some way? 2) Next up, what is s decent diagnostics fault code rear to use? Had VAG-COM on my old Audi which was great. Look forward to becoming a regular on here!
  25. Just to add to this thread: I'm picking my car up on Thursday. I managed to convince the previous owner to get the key sorted himself before I pick it up. He was taking it to a dealer to sort. If he has had no luck I will try the procedure posted above. Thanks.
