    ABS light

Alright all, Need some brake info. ABS light is on again. Last time a year or two ago it was just one of the connectors under the seats that came slack when the seat was put fully back. However I have now forgotten which connector and can't find the post i was obviously reading last time! Anyone any idea? Also should I be disconnecting the battery or is the ignition off is sufficient to be messing with the connections. Cheers Roo
  4. I had the same problem, looks like it has cleared so update for future ref...... Got the car back to the old mans and the three light were still coming on so hooked up the code reader. Registered a diagnostic code for the abs (P1211 ABS/TCS Control Unit - at a guess)..... apologies lost the bit of paper i scribbled the code on. But sent me poking around the abs sensors and the unit in beside the brake reservoir.... but no luck. Then had to give my mum a lift to the shop and someone stopped me to tell me my brake lights were not working, seemed to get a very faint glow from the led’s. Checked fuses etc and the two 'micro' switches which are mounted onto the body of the brake pedal. Again could not find the source of the error but this time the lights remained off for an hour of driving. had another look at the brake pedal switches and looks like there are sticking. Pressed in break peddle with my foot and reached down and flicked the switches in and out a few times rapidly and the error has completely gone for 3 weeks now..... Nice easy cheap fix!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Alright, Some weird happenings lately so looking for some advice. Last week went through some water and the dash lights came on. Logged in via the ignition/accelerator and found the errors to be with temperature on one of the O2 sensors. Reset with no problems. (Just background info don’t think this is relevant) This week pottering home in rush hour traffic the ABS, TCS (OFF) and slip lights all came on and stayed on until I got home (10min). Tried to log in via the ignition to get codes but system would not let me in (5+ attempts including using watch). Eventually lights went off after messing around for 30 min. Pulled away and lights came on in the car park with light braking. Turned off and on again and lights stayed off for two days, checked during this time with light and hard braking but no issues (only short runs). Had a look underneath and everything looks ok. Pads have about 4 mm left all round on the outside. Fluid levels ok. So lights stayed off for two days light driving and then came on again yesterday (after a 20 min drive around town). Restart car and lights went off but light braking turned them on again. Left car for another 10 min and lights stayed off…… What do you think guys? Is it the pads? Weird that it seems to only come on once the car heats up… and stays off once the car cools down.
  7. just getting over a cold and seem to be a bit more spaced out than I realised. It is the airbag light that is flashing!!!!! I even sat and read the manual w.r.t the air bag light errors before posting the original message. What a space cadet!!!!!!! Whats worse is I even bothered to check the fluid level before I started the car again.... Time for a lie down I think. Found the reset procedure so will try it tomorrow and check the conections. Cheers guys and apologies for wasting you time
  8. Hi guys, ABS light started flashing on the way to work today. Any ideas? have access to a code reader but it is 60 miles away. Am I safe to drive? Looks like there is only 4 mm of pads left all round buy have not heard any squeeling. Havn't checked fluid levels yet. 05 plate, 52k miles, looks like original stock brembos to my uneducated eyes.
  9. Just got an 05 50k GT and want to give it a full servicing. Book is stamped up to date and service not due to November but will have access to a ramp next week so thinking I might just get on with it. Just want to be on the safe side since have no guarantee how good the serviceing was preiviously. The only fluid info I have on record was that the antifreeze was flushed 21 months ago. Oil n filter is a gimme. do i bother flushing transmission and diff or just top them up? what about brake fluid? Can you tell me what the oem plugs are so i can check if these were changed? There is a K&N sticker on the air filter. Any idea on how to tell if it is reusable? check/grease brakes Anything else??????
  10. Does anyone know if there is a step by step guide to changing a clutch anywhere on here or on the web. Gonna be doing it soon and though if I get some info would make the job a lot quicker.
  11. Discs are nice and clean and evenly worn. Just have the 1mm of pad wear as shown by the 1mm lip on both front and back faces on the outer rim of the disc
  12. Alright all, I have about a 1 mm lip at the top of my rear brake discs. Pad have a wee bit of lif left but just wondering if the discs can be reused(or skimmed) when the new pads are fitted?
  13. Cheers, so what's the advantage of the flywheel. I have never changed one before so I assume this is not a oem part thAt will wear out but rather a performance upgrade. Remember changing a few in gt4 ........ so what do I get for the 300 squid the one mentioned above costs? And is there anything in addition to the 3 part clutch kit worth fiddling with while in there. Think someone mentioned the selecting fork was weak but I am only on road use at the moment
  14. car has just passed 50k so assume its oem i am replacing
  15. Clutch is slipping from low revs with a slight prod of the right boot at approx 1500 rpm ish in 6th gear (from about 30mph med acceleration). I assume this is the clutch on its way out! Sorry I have very limited internet access for the next few weeks to do any checking up on this. So if anyone can confirm that would be great. (BTW Clutch pedal is also slightly heavier than the last few 350's i have driven but not sure if that means much. Plenty of fluid in reservoir.) Anyway assume it is the clutch so any recommendations on replacement make/model/supplier. I have access to a repair workshop and mechanics but not sure if the oem clutch or whatever the local retailer will supply when we call is the best replacement. Looking for relatively low cost replacement for standard day to day road driving, nothing too fancy but something that will last. Any is there anything else worth changing while in there? Ta 05 GT
