Happy new year guys

Oh well shall we debate the price of bottled water then? The stuff is more expensive per litre than petrol

Consequences of drink driving and hitting my van

No sympathy there then eh they'd be in a lot more discomfort had they killed someone. -
They're a loss making brand, there's talks of ze Germans rescuing them.

I nearly bought a DC5 before the 350 I had, the DC2 hands like hell. The EK9 is quite amazing as well. Basically Honda had a stint of amazing FWD cars with the DC2/5 and EK9. Other than that I'm not interested. I'd struggle to buy anything other than a RWD car or a 4WD car these days.

Agreed, punishment is far too lenient in this country. I wonder how these people sleep at night, knowing the mess they leave when they steal a car or anything.

+1 I did the exact same and saved lots of money they were really good even reminded me it was time to change over second car. Well I did that with Admiral - but wait till you get the renewal - suddenly it goes through the roof - usual thing once they have got you hooked they want to fleece you. Both the ZED and June's Jazz now with Highway through Chris Knott - from recollection I saved about £300 on Admiral's silly re-insure quote. But both cars are on separate polices so June & I each keep our NCB's going and so we have flexibility next time round if necessary. A nice thing through CK is that you can ring up when adding mods (such as when I added the spacers) with no extra charge. Unfortunately these days it seems you have to be prepared to swop insurers each year to get a decent deal, unless the one you are with will price match. If insurance companies valued loyalty in the equation with a competitive quote on renewal once they have your business they could dump a whole load of their call centres and stop a lot of this insurance renewal malarky. Admiral certainly do have your pants down around your ankles come renewal time on a multi car policy. I got quoted £2200 for my A3 and 370 a quick run of the insurance quote with the both of the cars on separate policies came out at something like £1600, then I asked for a multi car policy quote, it came out at £1750, I would like to know where the saving is they can get stuffed. My A3 is with them now and it's costing me a small fortune for what I regard the car to be @ £670. The Nissan will cost me £1000, where is the sense in that?!

Very nice, I've never owned an Alfa but they're certainly some of the more attractive cars on the road, and to think it's a failing brand.
-
It would have to be the F430 for me, it sounds absolutely amazing! As said above I'm convinced with the same level of driver in each car the GTR would have struggled to keep up.
-
Sorry to say but this is probably in bits already, I feel gutted for the poor guy that's lost this. Chances of tracing the person who stole it might be hard, he probably used a PAYG phone to contact him, so not easily traceable. Some people are such scum.

NO!! Always remove negative earth lead first, re-attach last. +1 But really i would just get a trickle charger on it and leave it connected to the car. Mines been stored since the beginning of October with its charger fitted like it does every winter and never had any problems. That's all the advice you need mate! I was going to say the same, mine is on, connected to the car on trickle charge, my old man stores all his cars that way as well and no probs they fire up first time and most are about 50 years old

jebus, thats one bad kerbing It is bad and if it had happened in my 370 I would have cried. I'm really not sure why the alloy fell apart, it's genuine Audi, the only thing I can think is that it was so cold that night around -7c that it became brittle and fell off upon impact I would understand an alloy falling apart like that had it been 30mph+. I total that minor kerbing incident at £410 (new tie rod, tracking and full set of alloys) Anyway GT4 Zed, get the tracking done and fingers crossed nothing else will need doing mate

If it makes you feel any better, leaving my street the other day (which never gets gritted) I went round the final corner at a rip roaring speed of 15mph when my A3 decided sideways was the best option (compacted snow turned to glassy ice). I bounced off the curb on the rear doing this: and bounced off the front alloy doing this: Happy days!!!

This is one of my favourite colours. Anything Mag Blue from Volk, get it on there!

Quite reputable tyres in the drifting circles as said above. I have them on my Norco (downhill bike) if that puts your mind at rest
-
The Zed's suspension is amazingly forgiving. Very comfortable. With that said if you hit a pothole your suspension won't save you and your tyre will cop it. I've seen after the thaw the roads are in a terrible state, they didn't need much help in the first place but running 40 profile tyres on the shed was not a bright idea especially considering they're 18s.

Bring it back or I'll buy a gun. Here we have a lot and they seem pretty cocky, one chased my car the other day, very odd. Last night I was woken by one in the garden, I thought we were being robbed, it was making a hell of a noise.

Where?! I joke. I think it's a fad, Betamax was a bit before my time, it could have been about when I was a baby but I think it could go the same way. No one is ravving about 3D TV at all. Everyone who sees it in the cinema wishes they'd saved their money and watched it in 2D as it's just not that great.

I have a few wells that are on OPECs list for shutting down to control prices / supply and none have been off for this reason since March 2009. I checked my logs to make sure! I can't speak for countries I don't look after though. There you go! What I want to know though is when we run dry of oil, what happens then for the government, how do they replace this hugely rewarding tax?
-
I personally prefer the flashing boards that show your speed, they're very effective, but that's working on me and I appreciate a lot of people will think sod it and floor it past them. Speeding will always be a difficult topic and enforcing it is even harder, every single person is guilty of it.

Consequences of drink driving and hitting my van
geoff-r replied to iain10101's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Shame the driver wasn't seriously injured, drunk drivers are scum. In an ideal world he'd get sentenced for this but it won't happen because the law system doesn't work like that. -
If you want to really blame someone blame the oil producing nations, they work on a simple supply/demand. They curb supplies to ramp up prices. It's a joke, especially when you consider that most oil producing nations aren't as developed. Something does have to be done but no one really has a solution to the problem. As for the government, different faces, same robbing b*stards. As nicon said, the working population is getting ripped off and literally raped. It actually pays to be an ignorant slob who hasn't worked a day in their life and claims every benefit under the sun. The government are such a bunch of PC cop outs it hurts. We're all so afraid of offending people it's stupid. This will only get worse and the UK will become a worse place to live. Whereas I disagree with the level of violence shown in the student protests I believe more will happen as the government fails the country more and more.
