  1. Thanks Alex, Makes me feel a little better to know its a common issue, I was beginning to think I might have purchased a dodgy motor. I do feel build quality in general leaves a little to be desired. Excuse my ignorance but what is an NTSB? Cheers Andy
  2. Hi all, Just thought I would see if anyone else has had this rather scary issue happen to them. Driving in outside lane of A14 yesterday, changing up from 5th to 6th when I lost the clutch, peddle just stayed depressed and lost all usefullness. Car slipped in to neutral and fortunately I was able to coast to a safe place beside the road, but rather scary, especially at rush hour. Ended up being recovered by RAC and trucked to local Nissan dealer. I was then presented with a Kia Rio (oh joy!) to continue my journey. Not complaining as all covered under my extended warranty after buying my 07 313 Roadster last December from a main dealer, so top marks for service. Anyway, dealer phoned ,me last night to ask permission to remove gearbox!!! seems they cant get to clutch hydraulics without doing so, rather strange I thought. Now I need to understand if the repairs are all covered under the warranty and the warranty company dont try and play the "wear and tear" card. Cheers kingman
  3. A bit more info. Noise is defo not coming from engine bay, in fact you cant hear it very well when standing in front of the car looking at the engine. Its coming from underneath the car kind of level with back wheels. Car is under warranty with Nissan main dealer as i only purchased at Xmas, so let me know what you think and I an take it in Cheers Andy
  4. Hoping you might be able to help with problem. When putting my car in neutral getting a horrible whirring, grating noise, disappears immediately clutch is depressed. Let clutch up, noise starts again. I am not at all mechanical so not sure what it might be. Performance, clutch, gears etc all seem fine, but noise doesnt sound like nothing to worry about. Any suggestions? BTW I am driving an 07 313 350z roadster GT Cheers Andy
  5. Well thats 20 days completed in my 07 GT 313 Roadster, so I thought I would pass comment, negative and positve on my Zed ownership experience so far. In random order: Getting used to looks of the roadster with the hood up, still think its rather an ugly duckling, which turns into a beautiful swan when the roof comes off (only been able to do this once so far bause of the weather). Performance - feels swift without the kick in the back feeling of a turbo. Doesnt actually feel like 313bhp if I'm honest, but heh I havent pushed it by any means in what have been wet and cold conditions. Cabin quality and feel - driving position good, seats comfortable and supportive. Cabin quality, not great although I am comparing it with a V8 S-type Jag in which the interior quality was superb. On the plus side it hasnt felt cramped, its quiet at speed and I felt relaxed toady after a four hour 250 mile journey, so that cant be bad. Sat Nav - Style over substance... looks nice but not touch screen and doesnt accept postcodes grrrrr. Bose Unit - Sound quality good, radio frequency searching poor, seems to have great difficulty locating and then keeping Radio 2! Medium wave -5 live/talksport poor. Gearbox - feels notchy, especially changing down to second, but then I have spent 5 years with an automatic. Handbrake - hmmmmm, worried every night I leave it parked on my slopey drive and half expect it to be in the road when I wake up. Cruise control - couldnt get it to work on A1 today, must read manual! So in summary, jury's still out, but maybe I should leave my assessment until the summer, thats when a roadster comes into its own after all. Any one else feel similar or am I preaching to the smitten? Kingman
  6. Thanks to all who responded. I picked up the car on New Years eve and have already managed about 200 or so miles in it, one word Fantastic! So good to be driving a decent car again after 7 months in a 10 year old Astravan. Tyres seem fine, I have the pair of Maxxis on the front and Falken 452's on the rear, no issue to report, traction appears good, although I think its fair to say my loony days are now way behind me. Just waiting for some slightly warmer weather to get the roof off... Cheers All
  7. So here I am, all excited like a 10 year old on Xmas Eve, waiting for Friday to come and I get to pick up the Zed. Been worrying about all the things I might have missed during the test drive (I really do need to get back to work....), so looked again in more detail at the dealer provided pics. Noticed something thats got me nervous, the tyres whilst all having plenty of tread are branded Maxxis???? Not a manufacturer I have ever heard of, but then I have no experience of Zeds or Jap cars in general, having had Jags/Fords previously, so normally Pirelli P Zeros for me. How afraid do I need to be? and are these something I will need to think about replacing? Thoughts appreciated Cheers Andy
  8. Well the deed is done... Took the car out for a test drive yesterday all is fine, apart from the roof, which has a fault, so wouldnt work at all. Nissan will fix before I buy, as they will a slight bit of kerbing on one of the alloys. Other than that its the dreaded one lady owner car All being well should collect the car on New Years Eve, lets hope its sunny and 20 degrees C!
  9. Thanks for your advice guys. Looking at the car tomorrow and if all is in order then I will likely buy it. I will keep you posted and supply pics once the deed is done! Thanks again Andy
  10. Been having trouble getting the Coupe I was after due to dodgy dealers.... I actually believe some of these people cant be bothered to sell them unless you are getting finance through the dealership Now have my sights set on a Roadster, which has the aded bonus of being local at a good dealer and with a known and solid history (07 plate 313). Bit worried about soft tops in these conditions having never owned a roadster of any description before, anything I need to be concerned about? Cheers Andy
  11. Last car was a V8 S-Type, although that was 6 months ago, since then been driving a ten year old Astra Van... Will be interesting how the Z compares with the S-type. Styling was cr*p but the feeling of luxury and V8 power was a joy. Also very easy to lose the back end of the Jag when being a tad enthusiastic, so maybe the cars will have that in common.
  12. I had light grey in my old M3 EVO saloon and I have to say after 60k miles it was looking decidedly worse for wear, best I take better care of the Frost. At least the kids are older now and best of all wont all fit in the Zed at once!
  13. How does it age? Does it look dirty quickly, Is it Cooooool...... (or representative of a mid life crisis!)
  14. Hi, I am thinking of buying this 2008 313PS Coupe in Gunmetal. Its in Evans Halshaw in Mansfield. Problem is I wont be able to get to se it in person so doing everything via photos. Its got a personalised plate R77 PRB, so someone may know the car. Any help appreciated, as I am uncomfortable not having had a good look first, even trhough EH are offering all the usual guarantees. http://www.evanshalshaw.com/vehiclesear ... 57opn.html Cheers Andy
  15. Hi Everyone. Just joined this evening. Looking to purchase a 350z Coupe (2008) over the next few days, so thought I would get my research in first. Great site full of useful info. I will post on the general forum details of the car I am thinking of buying from Evans Halshaw in Mansfield to see if any of you recognise it. Looking forward to a long and happy relationship with the Zed. Cheers all Andy
