  1. Your doing well if your managing to stall a 3.5 v6 on anything other than the rarest of occasions. A lightened flywheel will give you faster response and acceleration. However the downside is the noise and it will be a little less smooth when on and off the throttle.
  2. This is true, but to be fair to the OP, you CAN just buy the full bolt on kit from Vortech with the SST box and run it with just a tune. It's not the ideal set up but it will work fine. The previous owner of my car did just that, and run it for 5 years without a problem and had a respectable 380hp. However, for various reasons - safety, longevity and MORE POWER!!! I decided on various upgrades and supporting mods as most in the know would recommend. But its not cheap, so weigh up cost, power goals and reliability and make your decision.
  3. Yeah, it will always slip in the higher gears first as the torque across the clutch is much higher due to it being harder to turn the wheels in the longer gears. Think of your legs as the engine/clutch and your on your bike in 18th gear...its very hard to peddle but in 1st gear its very easy. Depending on your mileage and age of flywheel, you might get away with not replacing it, IF you don't let it slip too much more. However, its a lot of work to change the clutch and you wouldn't want to have to go through it all again a few months later for the flywheel. If you don't use the car daily, you could order the clutch then inspect the flywheel while its apart and if needed order the flywheel then. I'm sure someone has them "Good to go same/next day delivery"
  4. I was impressed with my SC'd Zed at the weekend. I drove from my house to Newquay (370 miles) on one tank of petrol!! I never normally get more than 300 on a tank. I was being very gentle on the throttle (as it was wet most of the journey) but wasn't hanging about once up to speed, still done it in 5.5 hours. Only problem being I was on fumes when I got there and then had to drive another 10miles out of newquay to find some Super!
  5. Yep. I'd be very surprised if you end up settling for anything lower than 32. I find about 36 is about right for comfort and handling but often go up to 38 for long journeys and to help even out the tyre wear a bit.
  6. Absolutely brilliant! You realise it's spot on, if you spend any time reading the FI section on my350.

    IPDM E/R

Wanted = IPDM E/R (INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE ENGINE ROOM) in good working order. I think mine is goosed as my wipers aren't working properly.
  9. I'm away working at the moment, so can't access wiring diagrams or anything at the moment, so was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what the possible causes are? With the stalk selected to the fastest option the wipers go at the same speed as the middle selection. It's been like it since I first got the car with only 12k on the clock( now has 20k), but I only think about it when I go to use it in the rain and forget by the time I get a chance to do anything about it? Are there separate relays for the different speeds or is it controlled by the bcm?

    My rear end

Nice Zed! Personally I think your right though, it needs something more at the rear. I think the worst thing about the Zed is it's high rear end, and in my opinion a bumper tuck only makes it worse (waits to be flamed) especially if you have side skirts. There are a few options for add-ons such as defusers that I think finishes it off nicely. I have a Speed racing rear Apron/defuser, not to everyone's taste but I really like it, and a good alternative to a whole bumper change.
  11. Type 'clicking noise' into the search box and you get 401 matches, nearly all of which will answer your question.
  12. Love it. Much better in my opinion.
  13. Welcome to the club. Nice mini. A standard Zed will feel fairly slow after that I would think.
  14. Very I can imagine its a lot of fun. Been tempted a few times to do this, there or at santa pod. Is there much to hit if you loose it?
  15. Looks good. Alot of us remove the mount and just stick the normal number plate to the bumper anyway. Good alternative though.
  16. I can see what your saying, but seriously, why is everyone taking this so seriously? Surely people that are 'trained' in the secret art of driving don't ALWAYS drive in a set gear at a set speed......eyes on stalks waiting for a reason to suddenly need to floor it. Everyone drives a little different. As long as its sensible for the road conditions.
  17. Welcome to the club. PS (Its not a convertible)
  18. Around town I'm in 4th or 5th at 30mph, usually 5th. But the roads are very flat in Norfolk and traffic is free flowing. Due to the supercharger, If I'm in 2nd or 3rd and not accelerating there is so much air flowing from the Bypass valve that it sounds like a taxiing jet going through town! Out of town I use 1st, 2nd and 3rd to redline then straight to 6th.
