Peak cylinder pressure will be around max torque which looking at the above graph will be around 3000rpm

more power/torque at lower RPM is going to stress the components more (rods/pistons) due to cylinder pressure and the RPM (lower RPM means the motor is seeing peak cylinder pressure for longer) Cylinder pressure is higher when a motor is making the peak torque higher RPM means peak cylinder pressure is lower and sees the peak cylinder pressure for a shorter time. This is the issue with the DE/REV UP VQ motors and the weak con rods If you turbo the motors on stock rods when your in a big gear (5th/6th) cruising on the motor way you open the throttle car makes full boost very quickly due to load but accelerates slowly so seeing peak torque=high cylinder pressure for a long time and this will cause the con-rods to fail. If the car was SC this wouldn't happen as boost is in relation to RPM but once the motor is making higher RPM the motor sees peak torque later on in the RPM range. This is why we can tune a SC car to over 400+ bhp on a stock DE/REV UP motor but we tune the torque out of the turbo car to make it safe.

VQ35DE Rev-up - Engine Ticking Noise
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to ThreeFiddyZ's topic in 350Z Technical
sounds like a worn valve bucket to my ear it is definitely at cam speed. Only way to really check is to pull the cam covers off and check the valve clearances if one is a long way out of tolerance it is a major job to change, front cover etc off to allow the cam chain to be removed to allow the cams to be removed. -
Those castor readings are spot on what we see on the later 70's. I would of set the car up with less Toe on the front (more closer to parallel) would help these cars a lot , the later 2018 cars drive better than the early 370Z on Bridgestones but not if the alignment was as bad as this car was when initialled checked. We have never seen a new car with a good alignment set up.
-
Yes they do , the HR 350Z and the early 370Z motors used the same paper gasket the later 370Z used a re-inforced gasket set
-
Maybe it had a cam chain change and the seller just got a little mixed up.

The Hunter is the best system we feel @Abbey Motorsport we viewed and use all the top end system before we brought our Hunter Hawkeye 4 years ago. The main thing is to ensure the people using the machine understand your car when carrying out an alignment , we see a lot of alignment carried on a Hunter System that are not very good , although the numbers are green within tolerance , there is still thrust angles due to the car not being set up as square.
-
If we run the car on the alignment ramp onto just check the alignment will be £30-00 inc vat Full alignment on a 350Z is £120-00 inc vat. (3 adjustments) Un-seizing adjusters is extra. We can also carry out Corner weighting bump steer plotting .
-
Yep rear camber/track can be adjust on the rear off a 350Z , we do see cars with the eccentrics bolts seized but we carry these in stock. Front off a 350Z you can only adjust track. We advise to have a alignment check every 6 months with the state of our roads in the UK.You be surprised how much the alignment will change. And make sure the Hunter Hawkeye system is used awesome system but we are biased as we have one of these excellent systems in house @ Abbey Motosport.

Adjustable traction control is something we have developed. Not all EcuTek 370Z tuners have the traction control set up like we run on our 370Z remaps
-
flick me and Scott an email to remind us , Scott doesn't have time to troll any forums that is my job.
-
Okay best to come and see us then.

Starting the car with the centre sensor is disconnected normally flags the DTC light. Where are you based in the UK?
-
Yes a good set up to use, I see your still using DBW throttle , what throttle motor are you using? You should of looked at the Link CAN Lambda set up. Far more accurate and more reliable output than a normal 0-5v output lambda/AFR.
-
what ECU are you using? good the throttle bodies fit under the stock bonnet. Great work.

arh I read as you changed the lower arms you was using the SPL arms that take the springs. So you not re-enforcing the suspension mounts to go coil over then? -

Good Damper I know Jerome from years ago when he started JRZ. Are you sure 300lb rear springs will be hard enough as they are in board of the rear damper position. I think I am running 8kg/mm on the rear of my Trackday Zed which works out as 450lb which i still think is to soft. Only run a 10KG on the front which is softer than you are going to run. -
I doubt it tbh. All the figures I have seen from the US never can be repeated on my dyno.
-
not without spending a lot of money

HFC,s or de-cats and exhaust system inc Y pipe , drop in panel filters and Ecutek remap we normally see around 350bhp flywheel BHP.
