  1. The prospect of the right sort of weather today convinced me it was time to give my Zed a clean. After a good foaming, washing and drying I decided to tackle the "Rays". It is the first time that I had done anything other than given them a wash to get rid of the brake dust, so I thought that I would try some gtechnig c5 wheel armour. I am expecting a lot from a product that costs more than HP printer ink ! It was not the easiest product to use. It is impossible to see what you have/have not coated. The 35ml bottle which was only 3/4 full which was barely enough for all corners. However, the company must think that we all drive "Dell Boy" Reliant Robins as they only supplied 3 micropads to put the stuff on with. So, I will have to wait to find out if all the cost/effort has been worth it, or I have invested in a bottle of Snake Oil... S.
  2. My wife decided at 8pm that she had better things to do than watch Top Gear. I wish that I had made the same decision. What a waste of time... S.
  3. Go to Palo Alto airfield, hire a light aircraft (and instructor). Then fly up the Pacific coastlne back over SF, the Golden Gate Bridge, Sausalito, Oakland and Alactraz. A once in a lifetime experience - do it.... S.

  5. A warm welcome from me also... Not too far away - Woburn Sands. S.
  6. Yes, it does help, as do the other replies. My main concern is what happens if the DCA keep racking up the amount, and then try and enforce some means of collection. I have written to TalkTalk asking again why they think I owe them money. If I do, then I have no objection to paying them, otherwise they can spin on it ! As suggested, if the DCA phone I/my wife will say that the matter is in dispute. At this stage I don't want to engage the legal profession, but if they persist I will and then it will be up to them to prove the money is owed. S.
  7. A DCA has started to pester me for money I do not owe, and I am interested in any tips or hints that members can give me . It started when I left TalkTalk and moved to another ISP. It was a painful process, but in the end I moved, believing that as I was up to date with payments, and that I owed TalkTalk nothing. About a month later I received a letter from TalkTalk saying that I owed them £14 and that if I did not pay I would be pursued and that it could affect my credit rating. I wrote back saying that I disputed that I owed them any money, and would they please send more detail about what they think I owed. I have heard nothing from them to date. Today I received a letter from a DCA based in Glasgow saying they want £52.72. They also phoned my wife this afternoon. TalkTalk were recently fined £3M by Ofcom for a number a offences including erroneous charging of customers who had left. It would appear that the level of fine was not enough to deter them. This is new ground for me, so any help on how to deal with this would be much appreciated. S.
  8. Horses being ridden on major roads ! Why do they put themselves and other road users at risk ? I don't drive my car in their fields.... They should stick to country lanes.
  9. Many of these cowards hide behind the anonymity of scarves and hoodies. It should be made an offence in specific situations (such as riots) to use these in attempt to conceal ones identity. Identifying those committing offences would be easier, and those intent on covering their faces could also be detained. S.
  10. My 2 Euros worth. Steer clear of Valliant, their boilers do not comply with EU regs on EMC (cause radio interference).. Worcester/Bosch are great, as is their service. Be careful using a new boiler with an old hot water cylinder. The latest boilers rely on a sufficient temperature differential between in and out, old boilers just relied on the thermostat. Newish hot water cylinders have a different length/diameter heating coil fitted to match new type boilers. After fitting our new boiler we had great central heating and cold domestic water until we had the cylinder changed. S.
  11. We had this loud TV issue plus screaming kids early in the morning thru the walls in a semi where we used to live. I bolted a couple of AR speakers to the party wall and played "War of the Worlds" at what we considered an appropriate volume and times. The only thing these people understand is noise from others when it is most inconvenient to them. They got the message...End of story... :kicking S.
  12. I moved it to the center position and use it for my car computer. Pressing the front allows the power to the computer when the ignition is On. Pressing the back keeps the power on all the time, handy to keep the computer On when fuelling the monster... S.
  13. Shame that these sort of actions create diversions away from the important bits... S.
  14. I ordered some electronic bits from the States. They guy sent them that day. It took 1.5 days to get from Utah to San Francisco and 2 days to get to the UK. Then 5 days sitting in UK customs ! As it is now the weekend it will be Monday before Parcel Farce ask me for an £8 handling fee - for what ! S.
  15. Very useful guide. I need to remove the bumper on my facelift Z to fit a Stebel horn. Does anyone know if the procedure is the same as for a pre-facelift ? S.
  16. Six months ago I couldn't spell the word Inginer. Now I are one... S.
  17. Have you seen if the problem exists when the car is in a different location ? If so it could be radio interference, as a lot of radio transmitters share the same frequency band as vehicle keys. Some of the transmitters are quite high powered. S.
  18. Austin A30 - Destroyed it and a concrete bus shelter ! S.
  19. After a couple of near misses lately I have come to the conclusion that the existing horn on the Zed is about as effective as a Sparrows Fart. So after searching the Web the most likely replacement will be a Stebel Nautilus Compact air horn. Does anyone have any experience of this horn, or what is involved in replacing the existing one ? Cheers S.
  20. I would be interested in your results if you decide to go ahead. I have a "bog standard" 313. S.
  21. The gearbox in my '08 313 when cold is about as subtle as that of an old Massey Ferguson tractor, and that's with 12,000 miles on the clock. I.M.H.O. not a reason to reject the car... S.
  22. Good going Neo. With my setup I use Hibernate rather than Shutdown as it stores all the active Windows tasks onto the disc. Gives a much faster boot up. S.
