  1. A couple of years ago I hunted high and low in Florida to buy an iPod at a good price. I found that a) all the stores there had it at the same price it was the same price as in the UK, even taking VAT into account. Apple are a pretty switched on technically and sales wise. S.
  2. Don't show too much interest. Emphasise any faults in the property that you have found. Find out if any other offers have been received and what their status is (e.g. no house to sell etc). If it is just you, then put in a cheeky bid. REMEMBER you can go up but NOT down... Good luck S.
  3. Had the same problem with a creak coming from the back of my Z. It went away for a while after opening and closing the rear hatch. Turned out to be the two rubber bump stops where they were fixed to the hatch. I tried silicon spray, but after a while that dried out. I finally fixed it by using silicon grease which lasts much longer. S.
  4. It's so easy nowadays to get into discussions/arguments where one side knows absolutely nothing about the subject. When that happens - Walk away - Walk away - Walk away..... S.
  5. I have a 313 08, and it doesn't matter how I drive, the mpg display remains stuck at 21.4. Nothing changes, it is getting boring. Can I reset the thing and start again ? S.
  6. Pleased that you have most of it going Steve. Solder in the wrong place will get you every time.... S.
  7. I wish this guide was around when I fitted my Stubby. The trick seems to be in turning the aerial - not the car. S.

  9. Hi Steve, From your measurements I would say that you have things wired up OK. You are seeing continuity on each cable end to end, and the earth is also connected. Yes, you should have continuity between the grounds on the plugs at the cable ends and the HU. If the tape is being ejected, then I think that is your problem. I believe that you need to have a tape (or a dummy cassette) in the HU to allow the Tape position to pass the audio. I made up a dummy cassette by removing all the tape from it. You need to find and cure the tape "Error" problem. Cheers S.

  11. Yep I'm 64 years and 2.5 months young You old man ! I'm 64 in July... S.
  12. Sorry to hear that you still have problems Dave. It maybe that the output from the Nurrish Nav system is too low a level or the wrong impedance (technical term) to match the ground isolator. My Bose is driven from the audio line outputs of my PC, which the isolator was designed for. You say that with the isolator in the buzzing had gone, but the sound was very weak. It might be possible to increase the sound level from the Nav system to compensate. Have a word with Nurrish and see what his arrangement is. Cheers S.
  13. The way the ground loop isolator works is by keeping the ground from the source and the amplifier (Bose) separate as far as the audio goes. If the Nurrish NAV comes out in a 3.5m plug, then remove that and solder the left and right channel wires to the center pins of 2 off RCA (Phono) plugs. The ground lead should be soldered to one of the RCA plug shells. For completeness solder a short insulated wire between the shells of the RCA plugs. You should then have left and right RCA plugs with the earth lead connected to one plug shell and continued to the other plug shell. This plugs into one side of the ground loop isolator, and your amplifier (Bose) needs to connect to the other side with left and right RCA plugs. All there is in the isolator box are a couple of audio transformers. They let the audio signals pass thru, but stop the differential noise (on the ground) between source and amplifier. Hope this helps. S.
  14. The problem is noise pickup due to ground loops. I had the same issue when I put my car PC in. The cure is a ground loop isolator. This unit has RCA (phono) sockets and goes in line with your audio source and the Bose. Halfrauds and Maplin stock them. Fitting is a 5 min job, no soldering involved. S.
  15. Good luck with your project. The worst bit is pulling the interior of your car apart. A couple of photos of my installation. http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu72 ... G_1502.jpg http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu72 ... G_1486.jpg Cheers S.
  16. Correct, otherwise you will be relying on the chassis, plus supply wiring to carry millivolt audio signals.YUK ! I did not do the spring mod, but use an old cassette with the tape removed. This sits permanently in the Bose. S. Hi mate, did you remove the bobbins where the cassette heads fit and turn....? I would have thought with the bobbins still in you would hear the casette player turning all the time? I guess with the bobbins removed from the casette itself the tape may rattle worse lol.. Alex I just removed all the tape from the bobbins. Not a rattle from them. It may vary cassette to cassette. Used the only one I had left, the others having either gone in boot sales or charity shops. S.

  18. Last weekend I was a passenger in my wife's Golf GTI. We were in a small village near Coventry which has a number of small hills with bends. There was a brief headlight flash from a car coming in the opposite direction. I said to my wife, just check your lights and your speed. I got an earful !!! The problem is that she is an Advanced Motorist, and I am not... Anyway, she slowed slightly, just enough to miss being booked by the the speed camera mounted in a van parked round the next bend. It took over an hour for me to loose the smile from my face... S.
  19. Don't worry, as you get older Radio 4 will grow on you... I'm on the lookout for a radio that has just ON/OFF, Radio 2 and Radio 4 buttons. Also a Zed cardigan... S.
  20. She has no reason to complain now when you upgrade the ICE Yes, but I'd already upgraded it S. Sounds like you need to upgrade the Mrs.. Very little trade in value I'm afraid...
  21. Bit of felt supplied by "The Management" inserted between the top of the dash and the windscreen sorted mine... S.

  23. Took 'er of the indoors out for a longish ride in the zed the other day. Good - She found the rattling dash noise that has been driving me crazy. Bad - She criticised the ICE sound quality, said it was c**p (yes, I know it is) ! S.
