Did another touchless wash today using the same method as before. Seeing how long a touchless little but often approach can work in this dry dusty weather. Surface still looks and feels the same after.

You mean there was a top film to remove What a plum That'll teach me to just watch a couple of YouTube videos and think I don't need to ask specifics
-
Never seen vents so perfectly executed. You sir are a Don. And your zed is just evil

If MacGyver or The A-Team ever needed a base....... it'd be The Zed Shed. Mad skills at work there

Maybe in a couple years when the C4 fails, I'll try a premium film or even pay a bodyshop to add clearcoat to them.

Alas it was only £3.69 so no great loss Plus it got me practicing wrapping something.

Sprayed the light with water containing a drop of fairy liquid. Removed film backing. Chucked the backing and held the film that had the sticky adhesive side. Sprayed soaking both sides of the film with the water/fairy liquid. Layed it over the light. Used the felt covered squeegee included to press out the water smoothing outward from the center. Used hair dryer as I went to soften the film as I pulled and stretched. It was going on ok, but the film itself wasn't a good batch. Headlight was clear but even after smoothing the film out the film still retained a slightly cloudy look. Kinda like a transparent plastic lunchbox that is clear but not in the same way as glass. Should have taken some pics but I was preoccupied in taking it off before the adhesive had time to really become steadfast.

Our dog used to snore. Used to look so comical. Dad falling asleep snoring on his armchair, with the dog resting her head on his ankles snoring in unison She'd even twitch and growl as she was dreaming.

If it helps anyone, I definitely found that using wet and dry made the process easier and gentler on the lenses. In the past I went straight to pads and polish. Yesterday was the first time I'd used wet and dry. I think that without wet sanding, because there is so much for the pad to do, there is a tendency to work the pad too long and hard producing heat which could possibly damage the headlights.

Alas my clear tint film wasn't to my liking. Lost alot of clarity probably due to a poor quality film. So I stopped half way, removed it, cleaned and ipa'd the surface and applied a coat of C4. Going to apply another layer after 24 hours to hopefully boost durability.

Why didn't you post earlier coldel? I've only gone and copied Davey and have the exact same finish

I've corrected my headlights 4-5 times over the past 10 years. Past 3 times I've coated with Gtechniq C4. This slows the hazing alot but a year after the last application I have this Armed with a collection of wet and dry, pads and polish and a drill with pad attachment I proceeded. I used wet and dry grades 2000, 2500, 3000 then 5000. This revealed some crazing when viewed at certain angles. Fearing I'd make it worse with a machine, I proceeded with a MF cloth and Megs NXT Metal Polish. This still left some deep swirls. Another hit with Menzerna ultra fine polish After a couple more hits I got from To Now I've already got some clear wrap ready to protect the headlights hoping to get better durability. Any harm in putting C4 before the wrap as long as I leave a couple of days for curing? Or is C4 pointless if I'm going to wrap anyway?

Really feeling this transformation. There must be so many admiring glances from people who have no idea what Brand it is let alone what model or year.

On Monday the car was given it's weekly wash. Paint was feeling smooth still so no chemical decon/clay/polish. Then I dug out the Turtlewax that hadn't been used for months. Lovely slick finish with very little effort. Roll on Today. Car has been used on the daily commute in fine weather but has a coating of sticky dust as I park near a tree at work. Got the day off work so decided on a touch free wash. Armed with 2 buckets of water and this lot. Used the pump sprayer to cover the Zed's horizontal panels in Powermaxed Jetwash and Wax diluted 1:20. Then power rinsed off with the Worx Hydroshot. Not beading as tight as Sonax BSD but still lovely Touch free dry with my Worx leaf blower as I'm sure the paint isn't "perfectly" clean with a touchfree wash. Plus I reckon a drying towel degrades slickness due to friction and abrasion. Some afters. Still felt very slick after blow drying.

Love the "prom date" scene. Every father should watch that scene -
Well....... looks like my angry moggy picture is working. No more birds pooping. I don't even have to bag up the wing mirror

I've never sat through any of the Godfather films from beginning to end either. Always drifted in and out as my father watched them. -
I was seriously considering keeping my ageing 350z and getting a Nismo 370 or a R35 Gtr as a treat as I'm heading towards 50, so this is great news. But uncertain times financially for me so that thought is shelved for the time being Kinda like going to the pumps and seeing how cheap petrol is now....... but I can't go anywhere

Just had a closer look and I can see the crack now If you need a replacement it may be worth firing off a PM to Zmanalex.

Ever thought of getting a Worx cordless drill? £66 and it comes with 2 batteries. A spare battery on its own is an extortionate £40, but if you have use for a drill it's a no brained. Also seen third party batteries for £25 but uncertain of their quality. Ps. Nice to see another Hydroshot user
-
Hopefully just another polish needed. Going to try wrapping mine in a clear wrap soon. Used a ceramic coating once a year but it still comes back.

Took delivery of my zed 15 years ago. Still love it to bits People said I was mad spending £30k on a new Nissan. "You'll lose so much on a new car!!!!" they all said. Even if I've lost £25k over 15 years it's worth every penny

With regards to aircon maintenance, the most important thing is to use it every week or so even in the winter. This prevents the system drying out, cracking and leaking. Been doing this the day the zed left the showroom. 15 years on and it still blows cold.

Did my first ever cut. Normally have a zero back and sides and a number 5 on top. My wife point blank refused to help as she was too scared. So had to ce up with a plan. How do I level where the fade starts I used a sports elastic sunglasses strap. Joined with a piece of Lego where the glasses arms normally go. Got a snug fit round my head and decided where the fade would start. Then hacked a line with a zero on the clippers At this point I started to worry a bit but there was no going back. Did a number 5 on the top. Then went through numbers 4,3,2,1 fading off with the zero.

Great job there davey Thing is, now they see the results of a proper cleaning session, nothing less will do. What's seen cannot be unseen. You've probably created another detailing addict
