LloydZee Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Hi What's the best ways you guys have come up with to get the exhaust shiny and get rid of them black bits that develop over time? Cheers Quote
GMballistic Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Autosol is what I use on my stainless steel Invidia system. 2 Quote
ilogikal1 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Britemax Metal Twins - on a cloth generally but you might need fine wire wool for any really stubborn marks (0000 grade generally suffices). Quote
GMballistic Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 That's what ilogikal one was talking about yes lloydshaw. 1 Quote
Sharpen Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 +1 Autosol, microfiber will clog with this stuff, I apply it with small damp sponge Quote
LloydZee Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 Thanks again, just ordered some autosol. 1 Quote
sipar69 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) My other half's silver jewellery cleaner works surprisingly well. Edited March 2, 2014 by sipar69 Quote
Vlad Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I used autoglym metal polish with fine metal wire tool to get proper stained bits off and then just metal polish on a cotton done drill attachement to polish it up! Came up a treat! Quote
Jp606 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) Autosol and a microfibre works brilliantly, it removes tar too. I tend to do mine with my weekly wash and it stays really shiny. I've always done it this way since my exhaust was fitted so it doesn't get enough time to build up with marks. Edited March 2, 2014 by Jp606 Quote
BulletMagnet Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 If you have blue burnt tips be careful, you might take the finish off Quote
JetSet Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 start with a Brillo pad and then Autosol +1 Pete Quote
Spatt Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I heard baby oil will help protect polished metal.. it will smoke up a little when hot tho. I used it on my pug a few times but wonder if there is anything else others have used as a sort of protection? Quote
Ebized Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I recall an excellent 'guide' by Husky when he sorted out Nixy's exhaust to one of the cleanest I have ever seen but I've seached all the options I can think of, to avail. Perhaps some of the long standing members on here will recall that guide and better still can find it? 1 Quote

Sam Mcgoo Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 If you have blue burnt tips be careful, you might take the finish off That's a good point. I'm pretty sure mine have faded a lot over the years. I wonder if they can be re-burned with a blow torch or something? 1 Quote
Jay-350z Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Autosol isn't always enough, I use 800 grit wet and dry, then 1200 grit. Then autosol. Quote

FK1000P, either of the Colli's, Black Fire as mentioned, Britemax Metal Twins as mentioned (#2 seals as well), G|Techniq C1/4/5, AF Mercury, Gyeon Rim - all will be considerably better than baby oil. Take your pick. Quote
