HORNZEE Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 In the last week or so my car steams up inside all the time checked for damp inside all ok do I need to run the air con all the time in winter to stop it ??????? Anyone else with the same problem... Quote
gareth29 Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 silly question, but have you got the recirculate air button pressed? Quote
spursmaddave Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I ran my aircon all year, found my Zed fogged up a lot if I didn't. I t 's good practice anyway and will avoid smells or problems with the aircon system Sent from the Jaaaaaag at the golf club YAAAARRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPP Quote
wizurd Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I sometimes get a bit of that on the rear window. Air con on and sorts it easy enough. Quote
Stutopia Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I never ran AC all the time until I came here, but as per SMD above, it takes care of steam and smells. It fogs like a mother if the re-circ is on. Quote
WhackyWill Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Yes, run the A/C all year round otherwise it will steam up all the time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free Quote
Hooch Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I get this to, was looking at the rain x anti fog stuff? Also apparently rubbing the screen with shaving foam can help? Anyway air-con sounds good, doesn't it use a lot more petrol or with this engine size will it not make a difference? Quote
wmr1980 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I just open the window - unless it's raining, and then I put the climate control on. The only other time I do it if it's hot () and I'm on the motorway or in town. I probably should use A/C more, but I tend to prefer non conditioned air anyway. Quote
HORNZEE Posted October 19, 2013 Author Posted October 19, 2013 Cheers... Everybody looks like its air con on from now on then Quote
M13KYF Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 run my aircon all years, it helps prevent any ageing of the rubber hoses and prevents any bacteria building up on the cooling fins 1 Quote
Flex Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I'm sure Zman said Nissan recommend running it constantly too. Quote
longsh07 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I'm sure Zman said Nissan recommend running it constantly too. Think it might even be in the manual somewhere Quote
RedWill Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 What is the MPG difference when running the air con? Is it much different? Quote
longsh07 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) I cant say I have actually noticed any difference with/without but I do a lot of town driving so mines a lot lower than it could be anyway! Edited October 21, 2013 by longsh07 Quote
oderuyter Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Ooo something I can help with I ran silicon spray round all the rubbers, doors and boot. Then nipped down the supermarket and spend a quid on a dehumidifier block (plastic tub with some crystal stuff and a paper lid) and put that in the back pocket of my passenger seat, found the early morning fog ups and general damp MUCH better now 1 Quote
HEADPHONES Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 As already mentioned, you need to run AC even in winter once a week or so to stop the AC hoses drying and cracking. If you don't want to use it daily but only once a week or so, follow this procedure. On switching the AC off, turn the temperature setting up. Fan speed o high. Open window a little. After a few minutes, the water that had condensed in the system will be evaporated off and blown out. You can now run the heater or fan without steaming up. Once you use AC again, water will condense in the system again and as soon as you switch AC off your windows will steam up again. But on a cold day the AC will help demist the front screen alot quicker than running the heater blowing onto the windscreen. ....but then you're faced with the above procedure again to dry off trapped condensed water if you want to run with AC off again. cs2000 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Mines doing this too. Only issue is I have a hole in my ac rad . Need a new one me thinks. Quote
Dblock Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I also had silica gel during the winter. Threw on the radiator every few days to dry it out and then put it back in the car. They where hefty pouches but worked well. Quote
spursmaddave Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I'm sure Zman said Nissan recommend running it constantly too. Who cares about them, I recommend it Sent from the Jaaaaaag at the golf club YAAAARRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPP Quote
ilogikal1 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I recommend it But despite that, it's still a good idea. Quote
