ddcboyle Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 (edited) Im sure ive seen one on an american 350z, but never on a uk version. A hardtop convertable. What would be involved? I.e. not an electric one, but simply being able to remove your roof, like that supra? From fast and the furious (the scene "whats the retail on one of those, ferrari) As eevn I could guess, it wont just be a case of big saw and cut through the car. Could anyone give some info on how it could be done. Purely out of curiosity Edited June 24, 2013 by ddcboyle Quote
The Chubby Ninja Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 there was a thread a while back about a company that sells a hardtop for the convertible zed.looked awful though Quote
Ian Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 there was a thread a while back about a company that sells a hardtop for the convertible zed.looked awful though He means like a targa top Keep the coupe but just make the roof removable Theres a few pics of it on my350z but I think they are photoshops Quote
JackStrong Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 How bout a sun roof ? Bam Marger.r.aarr :S cut one out of his lamborghini Quote
ddcboyle Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Thats the photo I seen Ian. Something like that. Obviius disadvantage is the same as convertable with the sturdyness of the chassis. What are other disadvantages, and process of doing it? Quote
mattross1313 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Man that sunset 'aero top' looks amazing!! Quote
The Chubby Ninja Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 oh I see. that sunset really does look good.maybe a cage in the back would sort out some of the strengthening issues Quote
Ian Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Doesn't look too bad really. Pete Would look a million times better if the roof was the same silver as the body Quote
mick-r1 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Why was this not an option from factory!! Yes. Want one. Gotta be stateside that Quote
ddcboyle Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 I wouldnt mind doing this to my car. Only issue is costs, durability, potential issues and can the roof fit in the boot Quote
greg tl Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Doesn't look too bad really. Pete Doesn't look too bad....??? It looks flippin awful!! But that's just my opinion. Quote
greg tl Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Why was this not an option from factory!! Yes. Want one. Gotta be stateside that Now you're talking! Looks very 300zx swb(ish) Quote
jumping350 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 So whose going to grind there roof off first and try? It does look cool though very supra like also. Nissan missed the boat on this idea Quote
JetSet Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Doesn't look too bad really. Pete Would look a million times better if the roof was the same silver as the body True, the fact that the boot and the bumper are also completely different shades of Silver doesn't help either. Pete Quote
ddcboyle Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Im willing to give it a go. But no1 has replied to any questions about how it would be done Quote
jumping350 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Im guessing hardest bit would be the fixings on either end of roof and making it look pretty plus what happens on the inside with the roof liner. Maybe worth checking out how the zx and supra have done it and go from there Quote
JetSet Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Side on view on a Red Roadster. To me this looks pretty good, better than a roadster with its hood up anyway . Pete Quote

The Chubby Ninja Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 still think the coupe looks a lot better. I think it was mugen who done a hardtop version for the s2000 that went all the way to the back of the car. something along they lines could look pretty good on the zed Quote
