saiper Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Hi all First post! I am hoping to buy a 350z in the very near future, but would greatly appreciate a little bit of advice first. I have seen a few cars I am interested in. Some are being sold by a company called Trade Link in Primrose hill. Has anyone had any experience with them? The next is being sold by Zamman of Halifax, which although close to me, I have no experience of either - http://www.zamann.co.uk/used-cars/nissan-350-z-halifax-201303498748204 I don't want to be stuck with a dog, so it's important to me that I choose a respected dealer. Lastly, is there anything else I should watch for when buying a 350z? Any common problems that I should be aware of? Any advice is greatly appreciated Thanks James Quote
HARMLU Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Welcome! First of all if buying from dealer you should get some sort of warranty. Look for the obvious, don't take anything less than a full service history. Common faults: 1) whining diff 2) synchro mesh on gear box (gear box is naturally quite clunky though) 3) clutches last about 40k (I think) 4) boot rear struts don't hold boot up I am sure there are more but overall if its been looked after well, it is a very solid car. In my opinion go for a uk spec with gt pack. Mostly though, take your time and wait for that peach :-) Quote
SteveRS Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 First thing that I noticed is that it doesn't have "full nismo body styling", the skirts are nismo and so is the spoiler but they are most likely replicas. The front bumper most definitley isn't a nismo bumper. Quote

Front spoiler is a GReddy BTW. Pete Edited February 21, 2013 by JetSet Quote
SteveRS Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Also have a look at the for sale thread: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/51-zeds-for-sale/ Quote
saiper Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Thanks for the welcome and info guys, really appreciate it:) I will take a look at the classifieds on the site, although a dealer would be preferable as I am looking to trade my current car - VXR Racing edition. As advised, I'm going to take my time in order to find a good example. Forgot to ask before - I was also wondering, what are the servicing and parts costs like for the 350z? Quote
SteveRS Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Have a read of this guide James http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/22880-guide-for-new-memberspotential-buyers/ Quote

Bockaaarck Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 ......Is it realistic to expect a dealer to change the clutch and flywheel on car above 40k? Mmm you'd be very lucky indeed James, its not a cheap job a clutch and flywheel change, so I wouldn't expect any dealer to do that for you. If there was the smallest chance they might even possibly consider doing it you'd certainly be paying through the nose for it. We're fortunate to have a top selection of forum traders who could source you a competitively priced clutch / flywheel but then you'd have to also consider the fitting cost Quote
The Trouser Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 3) clutches last about 40k (I think) My clutch is 88k miles old and still going strong Quote
saiper Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 I think I'm going to have to bide my time with this. It seems that all the cars I have found so far are either to high mileage, to many owners or, in the case of one car, a cat C write off. The search continues... Quote
WhackyWill Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Welcome to the Forum.. Zamman one is a bit overpriced for an Import and there is a post on here about Trade Link. Dont get stuck with a dog..listen to all on here. Quote
