Newbie looking for advice.

Recommended Posts

Just signed up as I'm looking to buy a 350Z in the near future and looking for some advice. 21 years old and from Cardiff/South Wales Valleys...

Not sure if this is the best place to post these questions but, mostly just looking for a beginners guide to the various models.

Tbh, I'm looking for cheap thrills as I was quite surprised what you can pick up for like £6K, so looking at early models but I've noticed that they come in 3 forms 280, 300 and 313bhp? My main question is, are all the early 313's imports as I can't seem to get insurance quotes on them?

Also, are there any common faults to look for?

Any advice is much appreciated, cheers :)

FAQ section here http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=17also scan the forum, there are lots of sections which refer to information you will need as those questions have all been asked hundreds of times - also use the search function top right corner its very good.

On your budget you are looking at 280 (which is the 276) car, most likely an 04 or earlier. The 313bhp cars are much later ones.

313 only came out in late 2007.

Just because the cars are cheap I would seriously investigate running costs as they are by no means cheap to run. Most older cars will probably require clutches and flywheels soon which will set you back 4 figures fitted.

If you search there is plenty of beginners guides and also in the email you receive when you sign up.

Do some reading first on here as there is endless amounts of advice.

Cheers for the replies!

I did read that the 313 was only later models but got confused when looking on AutoTrader as there seem to be a few earlier one's with 300 or 313, i.e...... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p

I thought these might be imports though?

Anyway, will get myself on the search tool, cheers :)

:welcome:

Those are just wrongly advertised - 313's should be easy to spot, as they have the humpy bonnet and twin intakes.

Good Luck with the search

Yes plenty of ads with the wrong spec on them - also watch out for ads where the owners add an air intake which takes their Zed up to 330bhp or something...because quite frankly, thats boll0xs

For that money it will be a 276bhp (if you go for a model with reasonable mileage) so the things you are looking for as bonuses are

Rays alloys

GT spec (so leather seats, BOSE, cruise)

Also check the exhausts, seen quite a few new owners buy cars with great aftermarket exhausts as the older cars do tend to have exhaust failure by now

Thanks for all the welcomes! And coldel, thanks for the advice! I am looking for a 276 with the GT pack now as I have a potential buyer for my car and have seen a few with decent aftermarket exhausts i.e. Japspeed, which would save me a job beaucse it would be the first thing on my to do list!

All going well I may have one sooner than later :)

Lol this is quite funny, I'm 21 and from Cardiff and just recently bought an 07 313, no big regrets so far... Tax is £475 per year mind! Also so far I've spent a good £300-£400 quid so far on nigly bits but knew about most of them before buying the car x
