Hi! Southerner with JDM 350z! :D

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Really excited to be joining the forum. Purchased my zed the other day and i feel like the luckiest chap in the world! :yahoo:

The cars a 2002 JDM Fairlady Z, basic model (i think, help here maybe please?) with brembo's.

The previous owner was a member here and the mods are: +06 airbox conversion w/ Apexi panel filter, Japspeed Y-pipe, Berk HFCs, fujitsubo catback, plenum spacer, earthing kit and Horsham Remap.

The car has had a bit of an unlucky past, but based on the condition and the care the previous owner put in, i fell in love with the car. So my main mission is to bring my zed back to her full potential.

So, i have many thanks to the previous owner and West Way Nissan Southampton for all their help.

I'll report back once this niggle has been sorted.

I do have a couple of queries (which i will also research myself, 'search button' practise  )...

When coasting to a stop, the revs dip below idle, is this normal? I'll report back after filling up with V-power and a good service w/ new plugs and fuel filter, but i thought with the earthing kit this wouldn't happen?

Does anyone have recommendations on cleaning the panel filter, i'd rather not use petrol if there is a better way?

And, why is the 350z so much better than an M3? :D

I'll get pics up either tomorrow or Monday,

Thanks guys!

Im not entirely sure what the ZED SHED is but it sounds awesome! Is it welcome to anyone with a Zed and parts in their hands? or is it yours and Keyser's personal thing ?? (Don't slate the newboy!)

Hello and Welcome

Bring ya over overalls mate ;) - Queue for the shed (especially as mine has no wheels at the mo) but you're welcome along :)

We don't do hands on tuition we hand you the tools and point at the bits

Ask Waltzinblack who recently upgraded all his disks and pads at the Zed Shed.

That sounds great thank you! That's what i want really, a chance for more practise, getting good at oil changes, fluid changes etc etc. I'll be pm'ing you soon in that case :D

Hi and welcome,

I found westway pretty helpfull too, treat your z to a new panel filter they sell them (and oil filters etc) for a few quid each! Where abouts are you? There's a good garage in cadnam if you Southampton way.

Have you got a link/name ? is it service4service? Olympian nissan?

Got my Zed booked in at Halfords Autocentre for new coolant, brake fluid, fuel system clean tomorrow, also front pads and signed up for their Brakes4life plan, which should come in handy, never having to pay for brake pads ever again :D!

Also, got a quote from the Zman for OEM gearbox oil and molyslip, will be confirming that with him tomorrow, would do it now but i have to see how broke i will be tomorrow lol :D

But overall, she's gettin' some love :)

Hi

It's:

http://www.cadnamgarage.gbr.cc/80100/info.php?p=2

They work on quite a few unusual/performance cars, a couple of the hapshire jap car club use them too I believe, always seem to be Subaru's and Nissan S14 / 15s around, when I had an issue with my last car ( my clutch turned it's self into very small pieces) I literally broke down outside, the manager took my car in, diagnosed the problem (and quite a few others I was compleately unaware of), and stored the car for me in the workshop overnight till it could be low loadered off in the morning, and wouldn't accept a penny for it!

I'm going to be booking the Z in for new rear drop links, and a brake fluid change shortly so will let you know how the Z fares there
