I can spot spacers, aftermarket exhaust and a CAI at least - I'd return the car to standard if I was trying to sell... there's so many clean standard Zs around at present I doubt many people (as a percentage of buyers) would buy a modded one.

Same here with the MX5 - coming up to summer, mint car, low mileage, new hood/battery/zorst/brakes and not a sniff even at 2k!!! Made it the cheapest MX5 for age and mileage within a 60 mile radius - not a peep!

Ebay is a calling methink.........shame to let it go for bugger all though.

Crazy as it may seem try putting the price back up. I'm sure some people are put off when a Zed is that low in price, that is they don't believe it can be a mint car. If it was worth 11k a year ago then why the big drop in price, unless you have put a lot of mileage on the car. Just my opinion of course, hope you find a buyer very soon.

Oh by the way, Kayman will buy it from you for £6500 - cash money

It was on Autotrader until last Friday -I have pretty much abandoned AT as a viable way to sell a car - 5 cars I've advertised on there over the yerars and only ever sold 1. 5x £29 or whatever it is :scare:

stesrg - how have you found Autotrader? You had any interest generated from it?

Mine a 2003 UK gt just sold today @ £100 less than an offer I had a few weeks ago :rant: . Tbh prices have suffered a sharp drop recently and there seems to be far more up for sale as well which is not helping.

I got nothing from autotrader (exept for spam) nothing from ebay and 6 enquiries from pistonheads. Originally I had it up for £8650 which i thought was reasonable given it had new disc and pads all round, new tyres all round and a P2 service in January. Did not get a sniff untill I dropped price to £8k and then got a few at same time when I said I was about to trade in.

From dealers I was offered between £5500 to £6950.

One problem I found is some people are seeing the JDM zeds with no history up pretty cheap and want some of the same

Yeah, we part exchanged our 2.0L special edition Z4 last September and its been sitting on The Nissan Main dealers forecourt until a fortnight ago. I think its pretty bad for anyone selling a sports car or a gas guzzling SUV right now.

6 months :bangin::bangin:

There is a lot of cheap RX8's out there at moment which are complete dogs but people are expecting to pay same money for well looked after examples.

Spoke to a guy the other night who had put £1000's in to a vauxhall vx220 in last year but is not getting offered any more than the poor negglected example

Couple of options really.

First option is to part ex it for something else at a dealer for either a car you want, or one which is easier to sell on. Thats what i did a few months go with the missus`s car. The dealer actually gave us the same sort of price we would have got privately and the car we part ex`d it for will be much easier to sell on.

Second option is to put it on ebay. Things always make the "market" price on ebay, which is effectively what joe public want to pay for the car. People are sometimes worried that it wont make anything and someone will buy it for 20quid. But, that never happens. There are millions of people on ebay all looking at the advert and will compete to buy it. Ive sold hundreds of things on ebay and very often people actually end up paying MORE than they can get the same item from elsewhere. I actually put my last car on ebay and had 72 people watching it. The price got to within 500quid of what I wanted with 3 days left to go. In the end someone came out to view it, made me a cash offer which was exactly the price I was looking for and we did a deal. Which saved me forking out 10% of the cars sold price to ebay as "fees".

Ive had cars before which I just couldnt shift for love nor money. You end up dropping the price so much people then think there must be something wrong with it so it puts people off. With cars like the zed its all about having the right person come along and it can be just pot luck. I tried to sell an RS2000 escort a good few years back. Cost me £5400 at the time, had it for 2 years and it was mint, with low miles and all the options. But noone wanted it. Mainly because it was group 20 insurance I think. Ended up having to sell it to a car dealer for £1500. Biggest lost ive ever made on a car.

Thats incorrect, you don't pay the 10% Final Value Fee's on car sales on ebay :)

oops i meant 1% !

That's up to £3,500, it's a flat £35 from then onwards, if the cars sells

Stuck my Astra on AutoTrader, Pistonheads, gumtree and an Astra forum.

I got interest from the Forum, Gumtree and Pistonheads - it was the Pistonheads ad that finally sold it. AutoTrader I have used to try sell cars before and it's pretty useless, never had a viewing using that. Had a Corsa before the Astra and sold it via Gumtree.

This is the problem I'm afraid. There are so many RX-8s with engine problems, buggered CATs, faulty auto levellers but because they are dirt cheap buyers are drawn in by them. Mine is a 54 plate with only 46k on the clock and drives beautifully, but naive buyers just aren't interested because why would they buy mine for £4k when you have back street garages and clueless private sellers desperate to get rid at £3k?
